Knottie I’m sorry to hear about your class situation. That sounds really dangerous. Any chance this years class won’t be as bad?
And please don’t best yourself up over being exhausted and having trouble dealing. Pregnancy is tough even in the best of circumstances which yours definitely are not. Good luck!

  • @magnolia209 You should be able to get more state disability than that. I’ll pm you.
  • @yosemite2018 Thank you!!! You are like my CA pregnancy mentor!
  • I just wanted to share what we're planning to do. After 8 weeks last time, I started putting DD in "daycare**" 1 day a week and slowly building up to part time until sending her full time to daycare/me returning to work at 12 weeks. This helped her transition, my transition and "daycare's" transition. I was kind of bored last time when she was at daycare so work agreed to let me start back part time WFH when DD is in daycare. We'll see if this is better or worse than last time, but I know I'll at least appreciate some money!

**aka, my dad. He's agreed to watch all our babies for the first 2-3 months I'm back to work and we put them in a center at 6 months.
  • Knottie, do you work in a behavioral class?  I worked for a school in California that worked exclusively with kids with mental health diagnoses and behavioral issues that public schools needed support with.  But that was eons ago.

I have a desk job with proprieties I visit.  So I am planning on working to my due date.I am trying to make sure I don't have any major meetings the week before, just so I have some flexibility.  I'm only taking 6-7 weeks off.  I am using all of my PTO for the year in advance, plus a week the owner ok'd me saving.  So four weeks will be paid and two to three weeks we are saving for to cover expenses.

I am just tired.  Work is never ending and my anxiety kicks in pretty bad. I was on medication prior to pregnancy, but came off per doctor advice.  I have been trying to do more yoga in the mornings and when I don't have late meetings go to a meditation class.

Knottie, Hang in there, Momma! I'm glad you were able to get away after you got attacked - how awful! That's stressful enough w/o having to worry about the safety of your baby. I'm a teacher, too, due Sept. 15th. First day is Aug 17th but we have home visits and meetings before then. I keep pep talking Little Man so he will stay on all 40 weeks!

Planning to work til I go into labor but soooo nervous that it'll start while I'm at school or something. Unless my dr tells me to stop before I go into labor, tho, im6going to be there because I get 6 weeks short term disability (8 if I have a c-section) and can take 2 more wks (unpaid) if I pay my sub. Needless to say I am saving every bit of that time that I can for after Baby is here!!
  • @ashh2018 My last pregnancy I kept a spare change of pants/underwear at my desk in case my water broke at work. It ended up breaking at the hospital so I didn't need it, but it's probably a good idea just in case!

  • My doctor wants me to quit working around 36 weeks. (Currently 34 weeks) because I work at a landscaper/ plant nursery and she is worried about me over doing it. She has mentioned to me at the last 2 appointments how I should start to take it easy and stay at home. I'm doing simple tasks now but it still takes a lot of me and my back... It's more of the people at my job that are starting to really annoy me.
  • @lpq0309 how do you feel about stopping work at 36 weeks? Were you planning on working up to your due date or did you always know you would likely have to stop earlier?
  • @klj0228 Sorry I am now just getting back to you on this...I wanted to work till I was about 38 weeks. But as my pregnancy progressed it started taking a toll on me and my body.  At the doctor I would play it off like it wasn't a big deal and I could make it but my H went with me to an appointment and mentioned it to my doctor. (He has become a worry wart since I've been pregnant about me over doing it at my job.)
A nurse told me around 30 weeks that a lot of women work till their due date and its uncommon for them to take off so early so I guess in my mind I didn't want to be the "uncommon" one.

As of right now (currently 35 weeks and 3 days) I feel fine about not working at 36 weeks. Plus there's some things  I still need to do around the house to get ready for baby.
  • @lpq0309 I’m glad you are okay with it now. Maybe consider it a little “me time” before baby comes. I hope you are able to use the time to get things done, but also do a little relaxing.
  • My doctor had me out at 36 weeks, but due to my tail bone, hip pain, and knee pain on top of sitting for 8+ hours a day she put me out at 34 weeks. Thank goodness!!! I can't apply for disability until i'm 36 weeks but that's fine with me i'll still receive a paycheck before i'm 36 weeks so i'm not stressing. I would rather be out early and enjoy as much time alone as i can before baby is here since i will be be getting 12 weeks leave with him once he's here.
  • I agree, some jobs are just easier to manage  for an extended time. I am a self employed accountant but I have a government contract and private clients. Basically, I work as I can, even crazy hours because who cares when I take care of my projects and I can't sleep at 2 am. This will be my thrird baby boy in 4 years, but it does suck because no work = no money, so no matter how much time I,want off, if I don't work I can't bill. I just save up and do the best I can.
  • Have any ladies stopped working yet? I'm 35 plus 3 and feel like I'm going to have a panic attack every time I go in to work. I dont know how much longer I can last.

@haydeemf89 I've been part time in the office and working as I can/want from home for the last two weeks. The back pain has been consistent at varying degrees, and I've had irregular contractions since 34 weeks. I'm almost 36 weeks and next week will be my last week in the office until after I deliver. Between the back/hip pain, contractions, irregular sleep pattern and the struggle to get in and out of my car, I'm tapping out  I'm far more productive in the comfort of my home anyways

Edited to add: I thought I'd work till the day I went into labor, but my body has other plans. I have plenty to still accomplish at home. The crib is literally overflowing with baby gear that needs to be organized and put away, the nursery still needs doors and trims, my go bag still isn't packed, and the list goes on and on. I'm not typically one to be okay not working and being present, but I'm telling myself I need to be okay with this as right now we have bigger things going on.
  • @haydeemf89 I stopped working at the beginning of August at 36w. I am a STM and wasn’t sleeping and had nothing done for the new baby. I have a desk job and totally could have kept working, or worked modified hours from home if I wanted, but my state (CA) gives me 4 weeks of disability prior to my due date so I figured why not. It was a good chance to get my stuff done and spend extra time with my toddler, and my OB was completely on board and wrote me a note.
