  • @maggiemadeit I like to browse bumpadmin’s latest closures looking for drama. There was a good one in the September(maybe October) bmb I read this morning.

@southerngirlinwi I’m sorry about your grandfather. You HAVE had an emotional rollercoaster of a week.
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • @southerngirlinwi I really really miss beer too! DH almost got a punch to the junk the other night when he said “giving up beer for a little bit isn’t that hard”. I know for a damn fact he hasn’t given up beer for 9 months straight since I met him in 2006.
  • 1. I had my HCG beta done today. I’m nervous.
    2. I bought a cute little canister to put ground coffee in today.
    3. I almost got hit twice by the same SUV on the way home.
    4. My anxiety is high today. (See #1 and #3)
    5. I really want a glass of wine. (See #1,3 and 4)
    6. Going out to dinner with family/friends tonight.
    7. I ate Chipotle for lunch.
    8. Thankful for no nausea/food aversion yet.
    9. Considering a nap.
    10. I could use a cupcake. (Since I can’t have wine.)
  • @JLaVO888 I am making myself feel a tad better by allowing myself one sip of my husband's beer. We are big craft beer drinkers and collect beer, so I just give myself a taste of anything I haven't had before. A tiny sip of alcohol is worth it for my sanity.
  • 1. It has barely rained or stormed all summer and I wish it would.
    2. I have so much laundry to do/finish and I have been so lazy today.
    3. Pretty much just spending the day watching movies with dd.
    4. DH said we could go out for Mexican food later. So excited.
    5. We have a free gym/pool membership through my job. We have lived at the pool and splashpad this summer.
    6. We also paid for a zoo membership and have only gone once. I think we're going to go tomorrow though. The weather is supposed to be nice.
    7. I've had about enough of 90+ degree days.
    8. Someone posted an Instragram photo of Panera mac & cheese and now I want that. But also still Mexican food.
    9. I switched drs this pregnancy, and this one is making me wait a lot longer for a first appt.
    10. I'm still really glad I switched.
  • @southerngirlinwi I’ve been doing the same!
  • @greenbee we have also only used our zoo membership once this year...it was 4th of july, 90some degrees and insanely humid. I have no plans to go again until it cools down. Also, i am switching OBs too and it is taking forever to see them, old OB is doing an u/s tomorrow though so I am sticking around long enough for that to happen.

  • @Allycat11 The high is 83 here tomorrow, and it's supposed to be way less humid. Hoping for a not sweltering trip to the zoo. We haven't been since dd's birthday in May.

I had a rough relationship with my ob last time. It didnt get super questionable until like 30 wks, though, and it felt too late to change. She happened to be away at a wedding the weekend dd was born, and the dr on call was awesome, so that's who I'm going with this time. Glad you get to do an u/s tomorrow. That's great!
  • @greenbee Do you mind if I ask what the problem with your OB was? I have moved since my last pregnancy so I am starting out with a new office here (I haven’t had my first appointment yet), and I am wondering if there were any warning signs or other helpful tips you might have to avoid a bad one?

    1. After 3 weeks of being a lazy bum, I was so happy to get my energy back this morning!
    2. But now I’m back to lazy bum mode  :|
    3. I got a desk at work today, and it’s by a nice big window
    4. My prior desk was given to someone else while I was out on vacation
    5. I am a Realtor (newly licensed), so having/not having a desk is NBD but I was definitely turned off that my broker so casually gave it away
    6. It’s disheartening being a new agent representing buyers in the Bay Area. My clients put in strong offers and I’m pulling out all the stops to represent them, but we just can’t compete with the all cash, way over asking offers.
    7. The last rejected offer was $36K higher than the winning bid. WTF, that was punch to the gut (turned out to be a double ended deal)
    8. I swear I didn’t intend for this list to be whiny bullets about work
    9. All of the above plus this new pregnancy have made me lose some zeal for this budding career. What will happen to my business once baby is here?
    10. That was strangely therapeutic...I have new found appreciation for these lists :p
  • @maggiemadeit i know you did not ask me specifically but there are several reasons I have changed OBs. Here are some of the issues with my last one.
    - was scheduled more with an NP than OB for awhile.
-Would be scheduled with one OB then arrive to find out it changed.
-Pushed into a c-section from my first visit right up until delivery...despite doing my research and putting my foot down.
-Told I would not be allowed to go past 40 weeks despite no health problems with me or baby whatsoever.
    -told baby was easily 10+ pounds....he wasn't
-At my 6 week I did not even need to get undressed so no one checked to make sure I healed correctly. Also no follow up on mental health despite being treated for severe anxiety and depression during pregnancy. Thank God I was still on meds and was not suffering from severe PPD.

Thankfully my water broke at 2:30 a.m. at 39 weeks with DS. His beautiful 8 lb body came out in a few pushes at 7:37am and it took everything in me not to say, "Told you so!"  There may have been other issues too but 2 years later those still resonate with me and are why I am switching.

  • 1. I worked overnight last night and I’m worried about my ability to keep doing that, for lots of reasons, but I generally like working nights.
    2. I’m having trouble napping, sleeping, etc because I am either hungry, or needing to pee every two seconds.
    3. I have a feeling our little embryo is a girl.
    4. I have managed not to tell anyone I’m pregnant for several days, which DH greatly appreciates.
    5. I’m a puker, so I’m very thankful to be less nauseous the last few days.
    6. Because I didn’t nap well today I was exhausted and accomplished nothing while awake. I laid in bed all day watching Hulu.
    7. I know nothing of this “pregnancy sex” waaaay too bloated and uncomfortable for that.
    8. We got an offer on our old house this weekend, which is a huge relief, even though the offer came in lower than we’d hoped.
    9. I really want new clothes and glasses but feel silly doing either now that I would just have to rebuy in a few months.
    10. In 4 years of TTC we’ve never been able to come up with baby names.

  • 1. I'm not sure if this is really a true "craving" but I had an overwhelming urge for mashed potatoes tonight.
    2. I REALLY miss sushi... Raw sushi.
    3. I'm kinda glad my boyfriend isn't here right now because I've been so grumpy and he doesn't deserve to have it taken out on him.
    4. I've managed to binge watch 3 seasons of downton abbey since Friday.
    5. I literally laid on the couch all day today. I feel so lazy.
    6. I have two job prospects which is good because I need a job with benefits.
    7. I really need to work on my cross stitch more.
    8. I am an Amazon prime member and didn't even look at Amazon yesterday.
    9. I spent Sunday morning in the er due to a bleeding scare, but the good news I got to see the heartbeat!!!
    10. I can't wait until I'm not tired all the time.
  • navetenavete member
@valentynsi I’m a long time Amazon prime member and I have been wondering why everyone on TB has been talking about amazon deals lol
  • 1. I just had cereal for dinner
    2. I'm kinda still hungry and considering cheesy avocado toast but really I miss sushi already.
    3. I got vegan sushi when we visited my sister this weekend and it was delicious  but no yellowtail roll.
    4. Telling my sister in person was way more satisfying than I thought it would be and seeing her excitement was the best and now I feel silly for having been nervous to tell her.
    5. My mom needs to learn the difference between 'I'm telling you out of courtesy' and 'I'm telling you because I want your opinion and advice' - - it's driving me nice.
    6. One of my patients brought me homemade soap this morning.
    7. I feel really lucky to be self employed and love what I do.
    8. I still hate to leave the house sometimes, though.
    9. I binge watched TV from 2:30 pm on today and plan to continue until  bed.
    10. Yesterday I literally peed 3x in less than  10 min and the second 2 were like tiny dribbles -- but I just got test results back (urine and ob blood panel are normal) so I guess this is just pregnant life now?

@maggiemadeit There were lots of red flags. I had some risks based on family history, but I swear I wasn't paranoid; I asked pretty standard questions and she refused to answer most of them. I would ask how the baby was measuring, and she would tell me I wouldn't understand. Stuff like that.

She was just terrible at communicating and felt that because she was the doctor, I didn't get a say in how things went with my pregnancy. The issues started out small, but when I developed some complications in the 3rd tri, she became pretty much unbearable.

If I could go back and do it over again, I would have been more demanding, and I would have just changed doctors, even if it was late in the game. Trust your instincts, and know that you always have options.
  • @greenbee @Allycat11 Thanks very much for sharing your experiences. I completely lucked out the first time, and it’s helpful to hear the red flags. Sorry you both had such a bad experience. I hope you will find a great, supportive provider this time around!

  • @navete, my husband and I are currently trying to buy a house in the Bay Area. You’re not kidding—it’s brutal.

@mill1020 This has definitely been the season for sellers, many of whom have seen crazy high equity growth the last couple of years. Good news is, depending on which area/cities you're looking in, the market has been slowing down some (list prices remain high but homes are staying longer on the market with fewer offers received), so I'm hoping this stabilization will offer a long awaited competitive edge for buyers. I think you guys are jumping in at the right time (we passed the peak a month or so back), and I wish you luck!  :)
