  • @echo-charlietango People are LAZY and cannot comprehend worth anything!
  • @echo-charlietango yes! I don't get it. Or when they message you asking if it's still available, you say yes and then never hear from them.... So did you really want it or not???
  • @echo-charlietango @gorgeousariel Sellers are often super annoying too.  I assume if it's still up, it's still available.  But half the time I message about something the person says it has already been sold.  Then mark it as sold and stop wasting my time.  Then 1/4 of the time, the person doesn't respond at all.

@echo-charlietango I know exactly what you are talking about! It's as if people want to test you to see how serious you are on what you are selling. That and they are just lazy and don't want to take the time to read everything. It's been awhile since I've sold anything on marketplace and Im not I want to try with pregnancy hormones. I don't think I could stil myself from being a smart ass. Lol.

@AdorkablePixie I second the heat. Ive always said I rather have it hot than cold, but this summer is killing me.
  • I have something thats kind of me venting, but more of being curious about something. So, my sister and aunt I guess have decided to plan a baby shower for me, which of course I'm grateful for. A few weeks ago, I was asked what theme I would like and I said safari themed.

Today, my mom and I were out shopping and my aunt reces my mom asking if I still wanted a jungle theme. I told my mom to correct her that I wanted safari not jungle. (Apparently according to my aunt, they both pop up with the same thing when she looks up ideas) so, I just mentioned think along the terms of the Lion King. My aunt's reply was, so have monkeys or no? Which I said no, since that's more jungle theme. (At least to me it is) then I found out from my mom that my aunt said that it was kind of silly, which of course that bothered me a little.

I think I was more bothered though when my mom reminded me how my sister was for her last baby shower. She was picky and took control of the party even though it was others throwing it for her. (All the ideas pretty much had to go through her, which that's just not right. You let people throw a shower for you and you are supposed to just be thankful that someone put it together for you.) But I remember her saying it had to be a carnival theme, not a circus theme. So, now I feel like I was acting a bit controlling when I just wanted to make sure it was a safari theme. I know it shouldn't matter, I'm going to be happy no matter what. But this is the only say I'm going to have in the baby shower, so does it sound crazy about me being a little picky when it comes to the theme?

Sorry, that was longer than I thought it was going to be. It's just been in mind for awhile.
  • Ugh, I need a good vent!! DH is out of town for the week. DS# 3 has impetigo and DS# 2 spent the last two days vomiting and crying of a headache. He
seems to finally be on the mend thankfully and the impetigo is clearing up fast with meds, but just in time for me to have to drive 3.5 hours alone with 3 kids and stay alone in a hotel all weekend for DS# 1’s long, painful baseball tournament. It’s going to be awful  :'(. Im booking a prenatal massage for next week to celebrate (hopefully) surviving a painful weekend.

  • @kadeephd That's a good point. I know there are monkeys in the movie. I guess I was just afraid of them using more of a monkey theme rather than them focusing on animals such as lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants, etc.

@whitneyb89 Maybe "African Safari" would be more specific for them?  Or maybe Savannah and not Jungle - they are definitely two different things.  Safari could be vague to some people (technically you could go on safari to the jungle).  I mean,  if someone told me safari/savanah I would know how to differentiate that from jungle because I'm a biologist, but I can see how the average person might get confused.  Also I don't think you're being ridiculous, but you may need to nicely give them a little more direction.  Maybe some specific examples of what you're looking for vs what you don't want.

I don't understand this rule about not being able to help plan your own shower.  It's your shower!! That's why I planned my own wedding shower.  I wasn't a brat about it, but I wanted it the way I wanted it. I wanted a Caribbean theme and if someone else had been in charge and threw me a Tiki theme - some overlap but not the same thing in my mind - I would have been a little annoyed.

  • @whitneyb89 I used to love the summer when I was younger but I can't stand it now. I just can't deal with the heat and humidity. If it's not humid and it's super hot with a slight breeze, I can handle it. The heat just seems like it's been SO MUCH WORSE the past couple summers. Since I got pregnant with DS one I just cannot handle the heat anymore. I don't like winter either. LOL I prefer fall, but these days fall doesn't even last long.

RE: Safari vs Jungle theme. I feel like they're very similar. I believe there were monkeys, or at leas one, in Lion King. I love monkeys anyway, so I'd say bring 'em on!! lol I did pick the theme of my shower for DS, I just told them I wanted an Avengers themed shower and they took it from there. (They did AMAZING!!) @hkom had a great suggestion. :) (I honestly probably wouldn't see the difference between the two myself, so maybe they don't either.)

@orangecrush29 Oh no!! That sounds miserable. I am sorry. I hope that prenatal massage is amazing, it sounds like you definitely deserve it!!

  • @whitneyb89 I agree with PP, safari does not equal jungle, and you should help direct the hostesses. I also agree that monkeys (& great apes etcetera) don’t belong in a safari theme, nor do banana leaves or poison dart frogs.
Specify the animals you want to see, and the settings. There’s always the chance that they don’t know the difference and need a gentle hand to help them understand.

  • @whitneyb89 The two are pretty similar, so could you send them some photos or links from where you got your inspiration? I second what @ab_canada said. Telling them what animals you like may help.

@orangecrush29 Good luck! I hope the week passes quickly!
  • @whitneyb89 I do see how they are different, and I would also envision different color schemes as well. More deep greens and jewel colors for jungle and sandy type colors for safari. BUT maybe the confusion is like she said, when she’s looking for ideas and products they are probably jumbled up together. Hopefully it will be more towards safari but I’d try to be gracious and not too upset of you get a bit of a mixture.

  • @whitneyb89 I'd just tell them you don't like monkeys! Then, that should leave the animals you do like!

  • Uggghhhhh my bitch: just got a $600 bill for my genetic testing..... even though I called my insurance TWICE before I had it done to make sure it would be covered. I'm done. I can't deal with insurance or doctors anymore.  I think I'll just decline all prenatal care from this point on.  That's pretty much where I'm at!
  • @scaredunprepared Ugh I'm sorry!  Insurance is the worst.  Hopefully you can call them and straighten it out, but that is just more hassle for you.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @scaredunprepared I agree with @kadeephd

Definitely call and get it straightened out. I called Harmony before I got my testing done, and she said how it works is, they send a bill to insurance, insurance decides what they'll cover (if anything), and will send you a statement showing the remaining balance.

Then that gets kicked back to Harmony, and Harmony will send me a revised bill, with their discount on there. My insurance didn't cover a cent of mine, and sent me a statement for about 2K, but then Harmony sent me a revised one for $199. So you may also want to check directly with the company that did your NIPT.

@kadeephd and @Hollyyyyy I really hope they all figure their shit out, cuz I'm getting too stressed dealing with this plus house/ moving drama!   Why is this my responsibility, if I called before hand to make sure it was covered. I'm going to start recording my conversations with the insurance company to cover my butt from now on!

@Hollyyyyy I'm glad yours was resolved so you only had a $199 balance. I'm hoping the same happens here. Though, no balance would be ideal, seeing as how I'm going to get a massive bill once baby is born.  (My OB doesn't bill until birth.... which I think is obscene. How are you supposed to/ expected to pay all the OB and hospital bills at once????)
  • @scaredunprepared Seconding the rec to definitely call the company directly! They should be able to knock down the price significantly. Good luck!!! I know how stressful medical bills can be, especially if you have a lot of other things going on.
  • @Hollyyyyy and @maureenmce The problem is, I have no idea what company it was! All I know is labcorp processed it.  The test is just called "sequential screen" and I don't think it has a specific name like I know the other NIPT tests do (like MaterniT, for example). So....I have no one to call other than the doc and insurance :(
  • @scaredunprepared I am always getting astronomical bills from labcorp. Definitely call your insurance and they should (hopefully) straighten it out. According to my insurance company Labcorp codes their stuff “wrong” and it messes the insurance payments up. I hope it is the same for you. I have gotten this explanation from my insurance many times and then they always just pay it, so who knows. It’s worth a shot for sure. Make sure you let them know you spoke to someone who said it was covered. I’ve written down people’s names in the past for just such an occasion. ;)

For me my insurance covers it if I’ve already reached my 850$ deductible. However since I haven’t I will have to pay the testing bill. I can have the company not use insurance and the bill will be cheaper, but in the long run it’s better for me to pay it so that after I hit the deductible I will only pay a percentage for the rest of my healthcare his calendar year. Good luck to you! Babies are so expensive even before they are here!
  • @scaredunprepared My understanding is that it is pretty typical for OB’s to bill once for everything. It saves you from paying a copay at each visit.  Most that I have heard of, send you a contract during your pregnancy that says how much the total amount is expected to be, so you are prepared. I received mine prior to my 12 week appointment. If you have not gotten this estimate from them, I would ask.
  • @scaredunprepared my OB does the sequential testing too. As I understand it, It' a two part test - one blood draw around 12w (within 24 hrs of the NT scan) and another one around 16+ weeks. I've only done the first draw, I go again next week when I'm 16w.  I haven't received a bill from it yet so I'm not sure what to expect or if your bill is "normal" . But definitely call your insurance.
  • @Katzalia nooooooo!!!! I really hope the HFM stays awa
  • @Katzalia Fingers crossed it's not HFM and/or your daughter doesn't get it! That stuff is the worst.. sorry about the extra work stress too!

@scaredunprepared what a pain! I hope you can get it sorted out, I've had issues with labcorp in the past and my insurance usually figures it out for me after calling them. Hopefully your doctor's office can figure it out, that seems silly about them not covering it just because of who they received it from.

  • @Katzalia Oh no!! If it is HFM I hope neither of you catch it!

@scaredunrepared I'd definitely call your insurance company. Hopefully you can get it worked out, especially since they told you it would be covered. It's possible the people sending the bill using the wrong billing code, which happens A LOT!!

  • My bf is that DH spent almost 12 hours with his uncle last Saturday trying to fix his truck. Well, apparently it took a couple hours to get started because his druggie cousin was having a major fit and it took awhile to calm her down. But, he was gone all day and they replaced his break pads and some other part, but now it squeaks, so we have to take it to a mechanic. Idk if I’m more annoyed that we lost a whole Saturday and still have to spend the money or that I have to spend almost an hour and a half in the car tonight following DH to the mechanic and then taking him home. Hopefully it isn’t too expensive to repair. He already spent over $200 on parts.
  • @katy0990 THAT is frustrating!!

  • @katy0990 Sorry you lost an entire day :( Could the squeaking perhaps be the new brakes/pads?  When I got my new brakes done at the dealer, it squeaked for a week or 2.  Hopefully it's not an expensive fix if that's not what's going on.
  • @hkom Uuugghhhhh. Fingers crossed that the pissy people don’t hex you for something out of your control :grimace:
