Re: Weekly Symptoms • w/o 7.15

  • I think the itchy skin has started. I keep finding myself scratching my belly and then telling myself to stop. I don’t moisturize daily, so maybe I need to get into a routine.

My boobs still hurt at night for some reason.  Every time I get out of bed to pee its jarring how painful they are.  They even inspired a dream the other night that I had mastitis / a blocked duct (i can't remember what it actually was in the dream but holy crap it hurt).

Feeling kicks pretty much every day now.  Apparently last night between 3-5 am was party time.

Right now I'm having something very strange.  I'm just sitting on the couch and the lower part of my uterus is, like, twitching and spasming. It's definitely too fast to be baby moving.  Anyone ever had this before?

@echo-charlietango Lol at Puberty 2.0. Maybe they were BH,  I'm not sure.  It stopped after a minute or two.  It wasn't painful or anything.  I did a quick Google search and it seemed like it was a normal thing!  I'll probably ask the OB tomorrow though.

  • @hkom I think I remember that happening occasionally when I was pregnant with my DD - I think it's normal!

AFM, gonna start with the good stuff - feeling movement every day which is awesome! Also, my pelvic pain has actually improved lately - thinking it was kind of a relaxin growth spurt thing and now it's settling down. And my weight gain has been pretty minimal, thanks to reflux issues, so I'm actually feeling more active and able to move around normally than I was at this point when I was pregnant with DD.

Bad stuff - had a very rough reflux day Friday after trying a chai tea latte (puked my breakfast and lunch up) and have been struggling with feeling nauseous if I have too much liquid (which is tough to avoid in the summer when trying to stay hydrated.) I was going to ask my OB Tuesday to go up to the next level of reflux medicine, but when I met with my endocrinologist she was so happy that the Pepcid hasn't interfered with my thyroid levels (apparently reflux meds can) that she was hoping I'd just stay on that the rest of the time, so now I'm conflicted. I'm very used to throwing up 3x a week at this point so I guess it doesn't matter, and my thyroid went completely nuts after my DD was born, and during my MMC, so I am really scared to do anything to mess it up, so...I don't know. Sorry for the dear diary, just trying to think this through before my 20 week appt Tuesday.

Anyway, other than that, not pregnancy related, but just dealing with HFM annoyance. Blisters on my hands and some painful ones on my feet, but otherwise not as bad as I was fearing luckily. @Jens_Hoes  - hope you're hanging in there!
  • @maureenmce man I'm sorry you're still dealing with morning sickness and nausea  :(

Im also in the feeling more and more kicks club! It's seriously so reassuring to me. Also sore/heavy boobs, still extra tired from time to time, sciatic nerve pain, and constantly starving yet not wanting to risk having high glucose readings. And Idk if this is pregnancy related or not, but I'm apparently dealing with BV (bacterial vaginitis I think?). So yippee...I'm glad I have an answer more than just "increased fluids causing irritation, suck it up", at least with this I'm on a pill to get it cleared up.

  • @maureenmce I am sorry you are having reflux issues still. I would at least ask your doc for the script, so you have it if you need it.

AFM the headaches have decreased to only 2-3 times per week, thankfully! I am looking more visibly pregnant, which is nice and feeling some movement!
  • @maureenmce I was thinking about you today! I finally got some sleep last night, and although the blisters for me are still painful, it feels less awful than yesterday and the itchiness is mostly gone, thank god. I look terrible though. It’s crazy that DD and all four of her cousins and some older second cousins got HFM. It is running rampant here. The only plus is I told DH to steer clear of me until the blisters have gone away so he’s not even bothering me for sex  :D
  • @Jens_Hoes and @maureenmce I hope the HFM clears up quickly for you both! It went through all the kids in my extended family last year and they were all miserable.

@tumbleweed-1 I'm with you on itchy skin. I bought some fancy stretch mark oil at Ulta because I had a gift card but the smell is overwhelming (it's got essential oils in it and smells like a pine tree) so I've only been applying it at night before bed. My SIL just gave me Burt's Bees belly butter for my birthday and I think it's unscented so I need to get better about applying that in the morning so I don't itch all day at work.

I've had a migraine since Saturday morning and had too many things to do this weekend to rest so it's still going strong this morning. I jinxed myself because I just told someone on here on Friday how the new prescription my OB gave me for migraines during pregnancy worked great the first two times I took it and it did nothing at all for this one.
  • I think I experienced some of the pregnancy related carpel tunnel yesterday. I was painting a craft project for a couple hours straight (just acrylic paint on wood blocks) and my hand started getting tingly and I notice my left wrist (left handed here) was a bit more swollen than my right. The little bone that sticks out wasn’t as prominent. Such formal medical terms here.
Interestingly, I was crocheting the previous day (I crochet right handed) and my right hand/wrist is fine. Idk
  • @mag1cbeli3ver I had horrible pain from constipation when I was pregnant with DS. As you described, it impacted my entire abdomen and I had to walk around doubled over to cope with it. I discovered that if I take Colace, during pregnancy, I am able to avoid it. Good luck!
  • Thanks @Jens_Hoes and @katy0990! Sorry you both had to go through that - the pain is so incredible!

  • @tumbleweed-1 I hope moisturizer works for you. I use https://www.target.com/p/palmer-s-174-cocoa-butter-formula-174-massage-lotion-for-stretch-marks-8-5oz/ Palmer’s - it’s inexpensive. I use it on my abdomen and boobs after every shower.
For me: I’m in a good place. Looking pregnant, and feeling lots of movement. H was able to feel kicks yesterday for the first time this pregnancy. It’s been nice to wear a bathing suit and not be concerned with how my stomach looks. On the sad side I have an umbilical hernia from ds2- it’s not horrible, I just used to have a nice belly button. I’m not too self conscious of it, but my mom pointed it out last week and told me she’s felt sorry for me because my belly button looked messed up. She asked when I planned to get it fixed and when I planned on getting a tubal... gee thanks Mom. I told her I’d get it fixed when I was done getting pregnant and I would get an IUD not a tubal.
  • @Activebaby She jumped straight to tubal?! Yowza. Also, sorry your mum dissed your bellybutton...it’s not like you chose to have a hernia

  • @Activebaby I’m sorry your mom wasn’t kind about your belly button and that she asked such a prying question.
@temmetime and @morgantu We are also team green, so we are calling the baby “baby jellybean” because DS started saying that when that was LO’s size and it stuck.
  • @Activebaby I realized today that I’m feeling similarly — really starting to look pregnant, feeling some regular movement, not uncomfortable and grouchy yet. I’m one of those weirdos who likes being pregnant, until just about the last 2 weeks. Then I’m over it ;)

Me too. I also am pretty sure- 95% this will be my last. I’m purposely trying to savor it. Pregnancy is hard, but it is so miraculous what our bodies are capable of doing. I know that’s corny, but it’s so bittersweet.
  • I'm 15 weeks today, and nausea is still here. So I am still doing the unisom/B6 combo. I don't really vomit anymore, but I do get BAD gagging fits. Especially when I brush my teeth, or see dog slobber, or change the DS diaper. I have never had a weak stomach, but now it's crazy!
-Daily headaches. One's I can't get to go away. I've tried lots of water, caffeine, Tylenol, and naps. NOTHING helps.
    -Heartburn like crazy.
-Sneezing (I sneeze SO MUCH and usually mainly when I am nauseous (weird)
-Stuffy nose when I wake up in the mornings.
-Waking up twice a night to pee
-Good news is that I am able to eat anything again, so not many aversions.

  • @tumbleweed-1 Oh man! I forgot about itchy skin! SO not looking forward to that happening!
@mag1cbeli3ver How scary! I would totally freak out the same! Don't feel bad for worrying. Hopefully gas is all it was, but it's always good to contact your doctor just in case!!

  • @temmetime @morgantu We are also team green (2nd timer for team green) and it is so hard to find something to nickname the baby.  So we generally go for utterly ridiculous.  For our son, we nicknamed him Shemp in utero. This baby is Bowen (because it rhymes with our son’s name and is not anything we would ever seriously consider).

As far as my own symptoms...new—new stretch marks already, what?!  Also, unfortunately-I had a third degree tear with my son and that has led me to have some urinary incontinence a bit earlier this time around.  Not fun.
  • @mschill22 ugh yes to new stretch marks already. Just a couple, but already showing up!! And I'm not even showing yet!!

@PensiveCrayon @Activebaby my pregnancy with DS was so easy!! Aside from the GD this time around, I've still had it pretty easy. I love being pregnant!! And same, this is most likely our last since DH only wants 2

  • @CecilB93 I know the feeling. My husband and I have always said two...but I’m kind of having second thoughts.  I’m planning on pitching “how about 3” and see how he responds...  It’s so bittersweet thinking this could be our last pregnancy so I’m trying to stay positive even with then] crappy symptoms and enjoy myself.
  • @ab_canada How much protein are you eating? I found my hunger feelings drastically changed when I upped my protein and made sure to have some protein with every single meal and snack. I find that if I just have fruit or toast, I get hungry again super quick! (Note: while upping protein, I'm eating around the same amount of calories I had been, just shifting some from carbs to protein.)

I'm starting to feel baby girl more and more, but still not enough to feel from the outside and still pretty infrequent (a few times a day where I go - hey, I think I felt her!) Also, like everyone else, some gas pains... but as soon as I "deal with it" lol, the pain goes away. Have avoided stretch marks so far, but just waiting for some to happen. I've been using Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter after my showers.

SLEEP. Saturday night... I slept for 10 hours. This is monumental for me! I rarely get more than 6-7 hours - even before pregnancy. My body just doesn't do sleep well. I have diagnosed "fragmented sleep" even though I don't have apnea or anything. When I get 7.5 hours sleep and wake up 4 or less times, I call it a win. So 10 hours was incredible. Then, of course, last night I slept like crap since I was so well rested from the previous night.  :D

  • @omnommer
That's an excellent point. Before I got pregnant, I had a very healthy diet that included a lot of protein. I have fallen off the wagon a bit since then because I'm too tired/lazy to meal prep. But I think it's time to man up and get back to it.

  • @ab_canada Right? The bump tells me that today the baby's big toe is as big as a peppercorn and I'm like 'damn, those are some powerful peppercorns'. Feeling it pretty much every time I sit down for a while
  • The dizziness/vertigo is back. And I’m low energy sluggish because my thyroid still isn’t quite right.

Other than that I am having nausea much less often, food aversions much improved, eating better at dinner, and feeling lots of little wiggles and kicks, usually about 20 minutes post-dinner.

Totally agree with @omnommer re: making sure to eat protein. The rare times lately I’ve had a more carby/not really any protein breakfast, I’ve eaten all the things, all day long.
  • @texas_t My husband and I walked to the car this morning in the parking garage and have to walk up a little incline. I was so out of breathe that my husband was worried.  I got "are you ok" like 5 times. LOL

  • @lexidawg @texas_t ditto! Every year we do a suicide prevention charity hike with friends on labor day and I do not know if I'm gonna make it this year! I can barely walk to the park in my neighborhood!
