I've had really bad migraines for weeks now I've had chronic migraines since I was 11, and since I've been pregnant they've gotten so much worse. My OB keeps telling me to just keep taking Tylenol, and then take a Benedryl if it doesn't go away, but Tylenol never seems to work and I can't really take Benedryl when I'm at work, you know? It's super frustrating.
I've also had a little bit of lower back pain, and that's just kind of a nuisance than anything lol I feel like I'm such a mess, but it seems that everything is "normal"
@LLynde5 I'm sorry you had to go through that! I hope you get some more reassurances from your OB today that all is well!
@a_m_swell I have also had chronic migraines for long before this pregnancy. The frequency of mine have decreased since getting pregnant but the intensity has increased. I have a new OB and I explained my history to her and that Tylenol does nothing and she prescribed me Fioricet. I've only taken it twice so far when I couldn't stand the pain and it definitely took the edge off. She told me it would make me tired (even though it has caffeine in it). The first time I took it I was a passenger on a long car ride and I slept for a good few hours but the second time I was at work and didn't feel drowsy. Maybe you could ask your doctor about it. Also, have you ever tried Lidocaine injections? I was getting them while TTC because I was having headaches/migraines almost every day after going off BC. Fair warning though, if your insurance doesn't cover them, they are expensive and they hurt a lot. But they did give me relief for a few days at a time which was worth it to me. My headache specialist and both former and current OBs told me I could continue with the shots when pregnant but since the frequency of my migraines has significantly decreased, I haven't bothered.
@LLynde5 sorry to hear about your scare, I'm sure it was awful! Hopefully things go well today and please update as you feel comfortable! Thinking of you.
Here’s the update: what appeared as a contraction on last nights sono is believe to be a SCH and a contraction combo. Today it was a completely different shape and ruled the contraction part because the shape never changed. I am still waiting on some results because my cervix was irritated as well, trying to rule out any infections. This could have also occurred because the ER doc had to remove a bunch of clots last night to be able to see my cervix. The good news is that the cervix is closed.
I have some added appointments to monitor. I am on pelvic rest and can not list anything heavier then ten pounds. (Poor DD). There is still some worry though. My Midwife said this is brand new and will most likely bleed again. It wasn’t on my NT sono three weeks ago and it’s very large which was concerning to her.
The only thing that was truly reasurring was Baby Boy looked really good and his heart rate was 148!
@LLynde5 thanks for the update. I’m glad you have a bit more information today and confirmation that baby boy is still doing well in there! Hopefully with rest the bleeding will ease up and stop. Sending good wishes & creepy internet hugs your way. ❤️
@LLynde5 I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. How scary! I'm glad the baby looked good today, though. Fingers crossed it fades away soon.
@a_m_swell I've been getting headaches fairly frequently, but not migraines. If you're up for it, a little bit of caffeine, like just a can of soda, helps me a lot of the time. The Tylenol only thing is incredibly frustrating for me as well. H joked the other day that my first meal after I have the baby will be a big smoked salmon bagel (I'm trying to follow most of the food rules and I miss smoked salmon sooooo much) with crushed up Aleve on it.

My new thing this week is an achy leg. Not any sharp pain or severe cramping just achy in the shin knee and joints. Then it almost feels tingly like it’s falling asleep. Nurse said probably my uterus expanding hit a nerve, but driving me nuts making anxious!! Anyone else?? 16 weeks 1 day!
@LLynde5 I am so sorry you are going through this. So much uncertainty. I am happy to hear that baby is ok, though. Did the doc confirm SCH? Did they mention that the inflammation of your cervix could cause bleeding itself because of the extra blood flow? Try your best to take it easy and rest. For me, keeping off my feet seemed to help. Try not to overexert yourself.
Thank you ladies so much for the kind words. I am doing my best to not over do it but it’s very hard to take it easy with a two year old. Lol
@scaredunprepared At my follow up appointment they noticed where the contraction was last night on the sono gram was not just a contraction it a SCH as well. Today’s sono showed it better and in a different shape because a contraction wasn’t distorting it. The worry is the SCH is new. There is a good chance I will bleed some more. They don’t know what caused it and it wasn’t there 3 weeks ago at my NT scan.
@LLynde5 ugh I hope the SCH resolves itself. I'm sorry you don't have answers as to what caused it. Please try to take care of yourself and rest as much as possible.
@LLynde5 That's so scary! I'm hoping that everything goes well from here on out and that you get taken off pelvic rest soon!
I'm 17 weeks today and have been feeling very faint flutters for 3-4 weeks (maybe once every 4-5 days). I had been unsure if those were baby or not. Last night, I was watching a movie and over about 2 minutes felt 3 very distinct, singular "taps" on the inside from the low abdomen area. I'm absolutely positive that that was baby because gas for me is very different from that.
Other than that, I had an ocular migraine earlier this week (kaleidoscopic vision) which turned into a headache for 36 hours straight. After a visit with my chiropractor, I'm feeling much better but am making sure to hydrate since I don't think I was drinking enough fluids.
@Llynde5 I am so sorry you're going through this! I'm glad to hear the baby is looking great still - keep holding onto that as fear creeps in and out. We're all here for you & I'll be sending some prayers & love your way
Anyone else nesting already? We just got home from vacation and holy MOLY I want to clean and purge ALL the things!! I’ve organized my entire kitchen including under the sink and fridge, the laundry room, and unpacked everyone’s things. I can’t stop!! It’s 10 pm and I made myself sit down finally, lol!
Other than than that weirdness, I feel pretty ok. I’ve got crazy indigestion/heartburn/acid reflux, bad sciatica/back pain, and some annoying Braxton Hicks, but overall I’m feeling good! I need to get into my chiropractor ASAP- he always makes everything better!
@orangecrush29 after you do @katy0990's house you can come do mine lol. I never felt like I went through a nesting phase with DS, I'd be shocked to go through it with this one, too.
@orangecrush29 I’ve been having nesting urges and had planned to give myself some time on Saturday to indulge.
Super annoyed that because I was slammed at work this week I have half a day of paperwork to do this weekend. Hoping I still get some time to reorganize/purge out the office tomorrow.
@orangecrush29 I don’t know think my issue is nesting, but I want to move again. Which is not practical. Our lease is up in October, I’ll be super pregnant. We don’t have anywhere else to move to that’s going to be a better deal than this place. We specifically moved into this bigger, 2bd apt to start a family. (This is me talking myself out of it). It’s just that I got in the habit of moving every 2-3 years and now I’m itching to be somewhere else.
We replaced a bunch of furniture in January, and that kind of helped this place feel “new” (we also rearrange furniture a lot), but the effect is wearing off now. Maybe when our summer roommate is gone we’ll turn the 2cd bdrm into a nursery. That might help.
In real symptom news, I was able to brush my tongue thoroughly for the first time since early pregnancy without horrendous gagging. My mouth feels so much more clean!
