1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19+2. The size of a hedgehog! 2. How are you feeling? Ok. I'm having really bad pain in my back/side. I'm really hoping it's not a kidney infection. 3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Less than a week until our first ultrasound! I also found out because DS was breech I'm 30% more likely for this one to be too. Interested to see position next week. I know they still have lots of time to flip but DS was breech at 20 weeks and never moved. They said because I'm tiny and he was big he basically ran out of room to turn. 4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? Christmas Magic! It was my favorite time of year as a child. We have a lot of different family get together and I couldn't wait to go to them all the time. H and I have already combined our traditions and started them before DS even arrived and now having a child to share them with is SO special!!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 + 2, a mango
2. How are you feeling? I'm feeling ok, some exhaustion (mostly due to DD illness and not sleeping) some back pain but ok. I'm definitely feeling more movement, which is exciting. I'm also hungry all the time, but I was pre-pregnancy too
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Anatomy scan is Thursday and I am SO pumped!!
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? I think just being a kid. There is so much in this time that makes kids grow up soon. I want them to play outside and make up stupid games, go to their friends houses, play sports, and not be so invested in cell phones and social media. I can't wait until they're older and we can start helping them believe in magic (Santa, tooth fairy, etc). I know some people aren't into that stuff, but it is amazing to hear my nieces talk about it and to look forward to it all.
@kristah2 I can't believe you haven't seen the baby yet!!! I'd be dead. Are you finding sex?
@Jens_Hoes seriously it's killing me! We've heard the HB twice and no ultrasound yet so I'm so excited! If the parts are visible we're going to find out. I'd rather not but H "needs to know" so we will find out together next Monday! Holy moly! You must be excited for yours Thursday! Are you finding out too??
@kristah2 we are not finding out! I have been adamantly team green and my husband has been adamantly team finding out. I decided to drop the subject because it was not something I cared to have a fight about (we fight about enough ) this morning I asked whether or not he was coming and he said if I can find out I will. And I told him nicely I didn't want him to find out for these reasons, and then listed them, and he said ok! I can't believe he said ok. I was totally prepared to let him find out and just not find out myself. It sounds so silly but it is such a huge step that we were able to resolve this so easily.
@Jens_Hoes that is amazing!! What a great resolution! I couldn't have him find out and not myself because he would spill the beans and I'd rather find out together instead of him slip it out. Keep in mind I was team find out and he was team green for the first. He convinced me to go green and then mid ultrasound he asked what it was... Now he is team finding out. But he did promise me if we have a third we can do team green. I told him lets work on getting this one out before we start talking about a third haha
Omg yay! This is my first one of these! Hello early December Mamas!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18+6! "On this day, your baby is as tall as a piece of string cheese" LOL
2. How are you feeling? Ok today! Tired, but that's not new. Where is this second trimester energy that I keep reading about?
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I've been feeling lots of movement the past couple of days. It's making me super excited for our anatomy scan on Thursday.
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? I would want my child to experience the Filipino culture. I want him to know and understand his heritage. I hope I do a good job showing him.
@kristah2 hopefully you're just achey! Kidney infections are no fun. Does it burn when you pee? Lol you don't need to answer that. If it does, then see a doctor ASAP!
@hellohilly burning when you pee tends to be a sign of UTI as opposed to kidney infection pain when you pee could be kidney stones. But an infection of the kidney itself doesn't show much besides pain and occasionally fever and nausea. And in all the kidney infections I've had before I've only ever had pain. I'm a little torn between being afraid to go to the doctor and being the crazy person when it turns out to be RLP versus trying to take it seriously (especially after waiting 3 days for pain last pregnancy just to find out my appendix was leaking and rushed in for surgery to have it removed).
@kristah2 oh I guess I've never had a kidney infection! I was confusing it with a UTI.
You should go to the doctor. It'll be good to have peace of mind about it. I'm usually the "better safe than sorry" person with health issues, especially now that I'm pregnant.
@kristah2 Yikes, if I had had that previous experience with the appendix I would totally go in to get it checked out! Hopefully you can explain that to them and no one will think you're crazy! @binxybaby Nowwww I want a hotdog! @hellohilly Welcome fellow early December AND fellow Hil(l)ary!! That's my name too!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 weeks. A mango.
2. How are you feeling? Decent. I haven't been sleeping well at all. As a primary back-sleeper, tying to adjust to sleeping on my side has been unpleasant. I'm waking up constantly throughout the night to switch sides and I'm just so uncomfortable. Also have a pretty achy uterus. It's not sharp pains like RLP, just every time I move even slightly it's sore. Sitting upright for more than a minute or two is also super uncomfortable and I feel like everything is being squished in there.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Nothing really except for the general discomfort and sleeping issues, which are pretty mild in the grand scheme. I've also been weirdly nervous about how everything will go after baby is born. My work situation is very flexible, which is awesome, but that also means it's completely undetermined as to what happens regarding maternity leave and such. I make significantly more money than my husband does and I kind of wish I didn't have that burden and pressure to return to work. I'll probably take a month off completely but after than I'm not sure.
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? Like @Jens_Hoes said, I want them to just be able to be kids they way we were kids. I really don't like what childhood has seemingly turned into in the last 15 or so years. I want my kids to be able to independently entertain themselves with their own imaginations, and maybe the help of a backyard or a basement. Luckily my husband and I both really value that and we aren't tech people, so they won't be surrounded by computers and tablets and stuff at home. And we are pretty minimalist in terms of toys and other prepackaged entertainment opportunities (we don't, and won't have cable TV, for example). But it will be much more difficult once they get to school and all of the other kids have access to that kind of stuff, and our kids will be the weirdos with the mean parents who won't buy them all the fancy crap their friends have.
@kristah2 I would get the possible kidney infection checked out too. Last time I ignored what I thought might be one I wound up in the hospital for three days (while on vacation no less).
@hkom I'm torn about tech stuff. We don't have cable either and won't get it, but my husband loves video games and I think it would be unreasonable for him to be playing them without allowing our kids to also do it if they want to. I'm hoping if we buy very few toys and encourage our kids to play outside they will still enjoy that kind of imaginative play, even with the allure of video games.
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
18 + 4, an artichoke
2. How are you feeling?
OK. I had trouble sleeping last night and have been getting low quality sleep in general. I've gotten a lot hungrier and started to feel a continual kind of weird stomach discomfort, which I think is just having a baby growing in there.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I passed my qualifier today, yay! I knew I would, but I'm glad it's over anyway. Though now I have to rework the paper to get it ready to submit for publication, so the work continues.
Also, baby related, I've been slowly gathering baby things it is making everything feel more real (as are the kicks I feel daily now). Yesterday we got a free City Mini GT Stroller that was in disgusting condition -- covered in mold. I threw every piece of fabric in the sanitizing cycle in our washing machine with a bunch of bleach and it looks totally fine now! I'm going to buy a set of clips I can use to attach a car seat to it and we'll be all set for strollers.
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience?
I played a lot in the woods as a kid and I hope my kids will be able to have the same experience. I'm worried someone is going to call the cops on me if I let my kids wander around the forest unaccompanied, but I'm going to do it anyway as long as we live somewhere that is possible (there was a wildlife refuge behind my house growing up so it was perfect for that).
@Jens_Hoes good job on sticking to your guns! I'm glad it was resolved so quickly. 1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19+5, a bowl of cereal
2. How are you feeling? Overall, still feeling good. The hunger has really hit me the last week and it's hard to control my cravings.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I want to keep trying to eat healthy & not overeat, but now am to the really difficult part where I really need more food and my brain is like "umm hell no that fruit sounds horrible, look! gummy worms!"
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? There are some really good answers so far! I grew up on a farm where we had just the TV antenna (4 channels) and dial up internet. While I know it's impossible for our kids to experience as limited of technology as I did, I hope to get them out to the farm I grew up on a lot so they can experience rural life. Granted, we live in a town of 300, so it's not like we're city living otherwise Also, yes to the Christmas magic! That makes me crave Christmas.
@hellohilly was all good with the surgery! Had it removed and had baby monitored in hospital for a few days then I was just followed more closely the rest of my pregnancy and I ended up off work the rest of my pregnancy because recovery was HORRIBLE.
@kadeephd wow!! that's scary!! I definitely don't want it to come to that. Congrats on passing the qualifier!
@Jens_Hoes and @hellohilly FX for great anatomy scans on Thursday!! Can't wait to hear how everything goes and see pics of your beautiful babies!
@binxybaby I also think my baby belly is squishy, especially in the morning! It's usually harder right before bed, but I was def expecting a hard belly all the time once the bump finally popped...
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 weeks 3 days! Baby is about the size of a pingpong paddle, according to TB!
2. How are you feeling? Def back to peeing more often! Other than that, lots of leg cramps and bump growing pains. Everything else seems to be okay for now.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? My office manager just had her first grandson born on Sunday! It's been fun to talk about pregnancy stuff with her as her DIL was going through the pregnancy. She was exactly 20 weeks ahead of me (delivered about a week early), so it's been really cool to talk about where I am and when her DIL was also at that point. Now I get to see adorable newborn pictures when I come into work!!!!
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? Playing/sleeping over/being friends with his cousins! I had a lot of cousins (14 on my mom's side and 9 on my dad's side) and I loved being around them! My mom's family lives in Ohio so we would usually spend a couple weeks out there over the summer, sans parents, and visit at Christmas. And my dad's family lives by us, so we were always together for birthdays and such. I love my cousins! Right now, our baby bean has 4 cousins around here and 2 in NC! (5 boys and 1 girl)
Also, a big yes to Christmas, like @kristah2 mentioned! And DH and I def plan to be on @hkom 's team "mean parents" when it comes to our son not having/using tech. This is something we've talked about extensively already. We want him to be bored sometimes and develop some creativity without relying on tech to keep him occupied All. The. Time.
Me: 33, DH: 41 Started IF Feb. 2014 PCOS & MFI (low sperm count and motility) 3 Femara cycles w/natural intercourse over summer 2014, BFN 1 Clomid cycle w/natural intercourse Nov. 2014, BFN IUI March 2015, BFN IUI June 2015, BFN IUI Oct. 2015, BFN IVF Oct. 2016, fresh transfer, 2 day-3 embryos, BFN; nothing to freeze IVF Nov. 2017, fresh transfer, 2 day-5 blasts, BFP; ectopic; 1 blast frozen FET March 2018, 1 day-5 blast, BFP!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19+3 (almost half way!); I bit bigger than a mango by now (but mangoes come in different sizes!)
2. How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good. Hadn't slept well over the last couple of nights because 1) our AC is broken and 2) I had to wear a Holter monitor (basically a longer ECG) for a day, and there were only a couple of ways I could sleep without squishing it..
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Rave - Anatomy scan this Friday! That's only 3 days! Can you tell that I am very excited? We haven't even talked names yet because we want to find out the gender first. About 80% of our family, including us, think it's going to be a boy, so we will see!
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? Making tents out of blankets, swinging on a swing, gardening. My dreams are small
@binxybaby wow, that's a long time! You need to find some things to distract you..
@temmetime Yes! Let's have our kids experience dial-up internet! Just download a file with that really annoying sound, throttle the speed and shut it down every once in a while
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 weeks 3 days - heirloom tomato (yummy!)
2. How are you feeling? Tired today ... baby girl is such an active critter at night time and often makes it hard to get comfortable at times. I slept decent last night but I have been emotionally stressed due to DH working all weekend and DS being on an emotional roller coaster lately. Hopefully I can feel more rested tomorrow. Also experiencing some growing belly pains at times and for whatever reason a lot of the time when I get done peeing the baby likes to immediately move (I think head) down on top of my empty bladder making it even more uncomfortable than before I really had to pee! Not cool!
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? My parents visited us Sunday (they live about 2.5 hours away) and I hadn’t seen them since I was 13 weeks so my belly is noticeable now which I think was exciting for them. First biological grandkid. Also my Mom literally brought me 20 maternity tops, maternity jeans and some leggings I’ll be able to wear in the fall. Apparently she has been purchasing things every time she’s somewhere. Thanks Mommy!
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? I grew up in a farm and showed cattle in 4-H and that experience is a big reason of why I am who I am today. I want my children to be involved as much as they can and when they’re old enough be involved in 4-H as well. I feel like in a world consumed by instant gratification and tech obsession it will help them become successful and a good person. I hope they love the outdoors and nature as much as DH and I do.
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19 weeks today! Babies are the size of mangos!
2. How are you feeling? Eh, I've felt better. I can't sleep. Eating is hard (I swear my stomach is the size of a quarter). I'm super emotional. I'm feeling motivated to get things done around the house and get the nursery tackled so I guess that's good? lol
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I don't really have anything this week, just really looking forward to my anatomy scan next week! Hoping both babies are growing well. For some reason I've been nervous the last couple of days that something is wrong but I really don't know.
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? Spending lots of time outside, holiday traditions, eating dinner together every night
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18+3; baby is as big as an artichoke
2. How are you feeling? Ever since I've reached the second trimester, I've been feeling more round ligament pains and some mild cramps off and on. Thankfully they haven't been unbearable though. However, I have also been struggling with sleep these past few nights. I've been making sure to sleep on my sides, but it's killing my hips. I wake up multiple times to switch sides. Last night was the worst so far, since I didnt get any relief from the pain no matter which side I switched to. I got a body pillow the other night, but it hasn't helped at all. Thought about trying a snoogle, but didn't want to spend the money on one, especially if it doesn't help.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? On a good note, my sonogram is tomorrow! I'm excited, yet nervous at the same time. I am so ready to finally find out what the gender will be. (Even though we are waiting until our reveal party Sunday to find out! )
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? I'm hoping to live in a neighborhood that has plenty of other kids. Some of my best childhood memories was growing up playing outside all the time, whether it was kick ball, tag, riding our bikes around the neighborhood, and my favorite, playing hide and seek at night. Also, I hope to take them fishing often. It may not be as much as my dad took us, but it was always a relaxing way to spend a Sunday
@whitneyb89 FX for a great sonogram today!! I feel you on the sleep problems. Honestly, I don't know how much my pregnancy pillow is helping at this point, so I think it's a good idea to stick with your body for now. Hopefully some nice sleeping nights lie ahead for everyone who's having trouble!

@kristah2 You're going to flip out at Christmas. It's so freaking fun with a kid! Also, yay for almost seeing your baby! @jens_Hoes Wahoo for A/S on Thursday! @binxybaby What we fail to realize is baby just pushes chub in a baby bump form. At least that's where I'm at, lol! @hellohilly My husband is Filipino and I'm caucasian! My almost 3 yo LOVES Filipino food! We'd puree Afritada and Sinigang when he was 7 or 8 months old. We've been talking about when would be the best time to take a trip to the Phillipines! @hkom Did you get a pregnancy pillow yet? I've started to become very uncomfortable and just ordered one today! @kadeephd I'm shocked someone had the gall to even give that away. @temmetime I know what you mean on wanting to keep eating healthy. I had a hard time last week, but over the weekend I meal planned and chose some healthy but delicious meals and that has helped tremendously! Good luck! @mag1cbeli3ver I've been peeing a million times a day. Sigh. Also, thank you for reminding me; the leg cramps started last night! I need to drink some coconut water! @ab_canada I can't believe you're without an A/C!! Poor you! :'( @countrygirl624 Awesome mom for buying you maternity clothes!!! @clawbaby1202 Go with the motivation before it's too late, lol! @whitneyb89 I just bought a knock of snoogle off Amazon for $40, I'll let you know how it goes!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 19w3d - Baby is 10oz!
2. How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good! Started taking Unisom/B6 again from some rando nausea and it's helped with that and my sleep.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? Had my anatomy scan yesterday and we confirmed it's a boy! We are naming him Owen and I'm really starting to get excited. Doctor said everything looks great!
4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience? I'll echo the Christmas Magic! My parents (dad in particular) loved Christmas and ALWAYS made it an ordeal. I think my oldest son will REALLY enjoy this year and I'm so excited!
@mag1cbeli3ver Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money on a pillow if it won't help. Main reason I don't think it will is because the hip that starts really hurting is the one I'm laying on. I've had a couple people suggest a chiropractor, so I might give that a shot. Thank you though! I hope to I have an updated picture in the ultrasound thread later today.
@texas_t I was too... my husband went to get it so I didn't see it until it got home. I know you can buy replacement parts so I think that's what the woman thought whoever took it would do. It's looking basically fine now that it's all bleached! I might dye the canopy a darker color to make it a bit more vibrant but it's perfectly functional and not gross now. I'm happy to have rescued it!
1. 19 weeks today. Baby is roughly the one ten thousandth the weight of an adult male giraffe. 2. Feeling pretty fat and happy. I haven't really hated being pregnant this time (unlike last time), but the belly is definitely starting to feel a little bit in-the-way, and I'm a little nervous to be getting to this stage already. I carried big last time, and it was miserable; I'm not ready to be back there yet. 3. Nothing really. I need to get on the ball with scheduling my anatomy scan, but that's about it. 4. I can't wait for my girls to learn to read! As much as #1 and I love reading together (and I'm looking forward to reading to #2), there was always something so magical about getting lost in a book by myself when I was a kid (and an adult, for that matter), and I'm excited for her to get to experience that. I'm also hoping both girls have good neighbor friends with whom they can freely play outside. I grew up able to walk over to my best friend's house barefoot anytime I chose with no supervision; I'd love the same to be true for them (and with 20+ children just on our block, I think we've got a good shot at it). But then, I lived in a rural town of 2000 people; we're still in a neighborhood with mostly single family homes where we know our neighbors, and technically we live in a suburb bordering Chicago instead of the city proper, but it's definitely urban living.
I am finding it super interesting all the millennials/borderline millennials who are so adamently against overreliance on tech. I'm fully on board, but it's definitely a shift from how I was raised. We didn't have a computer until I was older, only got dial-up when I was a senior in high school, and I never had a cell phone until I was in college, but at the same time, there were few limits on how long we could play with the Nintendo (so long as we got everything we needed to do done), and the TV was never NOT on, including mealtimes (we had a television in the kitchen, even). For all the crap that the generation currently becoming parents gets for being tech obsessed, I feel like there's definitely much more consciousness surrounding things like screen time.
@agk2015 I was raised the same as you; tv was ALWAYS and there wasn't a limit on Nintendo for us, either. I don't want my child/children to sit an endlessly watch tv, but it hasn't been much a concern up until now because my son never sits still. A majority of the time, it's background noise and he's playing or running amok. If DS was a couch potato, I may feel differently, but we rarely just sit around. On the weekends we're always doing something all weekend long, so I've yet to find it something to even worry about!
@AGK2015 The TV was always on in my house growing up too. My parents still always have the TV on and it drives me nuts! I would like to limit tech time and not do any screen time when my kids are young, but I'm not sure how realistic that is. I can totally see myself breaking down due to exhaustion/frustration/wanting some peace and quiet.
20+2 baby is healthy and good, no belly yet. Due the 3rd Im happy she will be here by christmas! So i can share the joy with her of the snow and family and christmas songs!
Re: Weekly Due Date Check-In for 12/1-12/8

@Jens_Hoes we will be ultrasounding together!
@binxybaby 22 weeks is a long time! Ah you can do it!
I'm a little torn between being afraid to go to the doctor and being the crazy person when it turns out to be RLP versus trying to take it seriously (especially after waiting 3 days for pain last pregnancy just to find out my appendix was leaking and rushed in for surgery to have it removed).

4. GTKY: What thing(s) from your childhood do you want your child(ren) to experience?
Granted, we live in a town of 300, so it's not like we're city living otherwise
DS: 12/20/16
EDD: 11/29/18
@kadeephd wow!! that's scary!! I definitely don't want it to come to that. Congrats on passing the qualifier!
@binxybaby I also think my baby belly is squishy, especially in the morning! It's usually harder right before bed, but I was def expecting a hard belly all the time once the bump finally popped...
@kadeephd Congrats on passing your qualifier!!
The. Time.

@kristah2 glad to hear that surgery went well.
@binxybaby hi! Thank you!
@mag1cbeli3ver thank you I can't wait either!
I grew up with lots of cousins too!
Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot of baby boys due? I know some are team green, but I feel like there are boys everywhere!
@temmetime Yes! Let's have our kids experience dial-up internet! Just download a file with that really annoying sound, throttle the speed and shut it down every once in a while
19 weeks 3 days - heirloom tomato (yummy!)

@ab_canada I can't believe you're without an A/C!! Poor you! :'(
@countrygirl624 Awesome mom for buying you maternity clothes!!!

@texas_t Thanks, I appreciate it!
