Lol that pic is hilarious!
I do have a question as well. I’m 36 + 5 and the top of my belly is staying SO hard and the bottom is generally soft. Anyone else experience this or know what it may be? Am I just constantly feeling baby’s butt up top?
I think those are Braxton Hicks! @ashbub714. I get those a lot. Not painful or anything.
TTC History:
Me: 36 H: 40 Married 2015. Together since 2010. TTC: Sept 2016-Oct 2017 BFP Oct 2017. DD born July 2018. TTC: March 2020. BFP March 2020 Due date was Nov 2020 DS born Sept 2020. DS passed away Nov 2020 due to prematurity and birth trauma. TTC: March 2021 IUI #1 Nov 2021, BFN IUI #2 Dec 2021 BFP. MC Jan 2022 IUI #3 Aug 2022 BFN IUI #4 Sept 2022 BFN AMH test came back at .081. Was going to move on to IVF with DE, but have decided not to. Will be leaving it up to the universe now.
@rachelsogo thanks for the response! I’ve had some Braxton Hicks contractions and usually my whole belly goes hard briefly and then it stops. This is kinda different in that it just my upper belly staying hard pretty much constantly. It’s so odd, but maybe my BH contractions are just different than they have been before. Maybe that means things are moving and my body will do what it needs to do when it’s time!
@ashbub714 that sounds like Braxton Hicks. Also, I had my growth ultrasound and they weighed her in at 6lb 15oz already. Yikes! And we still have 25 days until her due date. How accurate is this?
@ashbub714 +1 to maybe feeling baby. I have spots that are super hard all the time when babe is positioned just right and its his back or butt. My BH also are the entire belly and accompanied often by some shortness of breath and a quick hot flash so that's how can tell the difference sometimes.
@ashbub714 and @SmashJam if baby is a certain way, her back and butt are lined up perfectly with the right side of my bump and rock solid until she moves. That same time, the left side of my bump is softer.
+1 for an always hard bump, especially when I’m standing. There’s no more space for her anymore! When I’m sitting I can distinguish BH better, but I do have to find a spot baby’s butt isn’t sticking out to gague whether or not it’s hard. The real contractions make themselves known either way.
@acunamatada Yeah I think I am at a state with no contractions at this very second, but when it feels hard 90% of the time I have no idea. Otherwise I swear my BH are like 20 min long, lol.
Update before I even sent this post: Now my stomach is tight again.
@And846 in my experience the ultrasounds have been somewhat accurate (with one of my babies) or off by a pound making them larger than they actually were. My last baby, they said was about 7.5 lbs at 36 weeks and when he was born at 37w4d he was 6lbs. 7 oz. My first baby measured 6.5 lbs at 36 weeks and at birth at 37 weeks exactly he was 5 lbs. 7 oz. With my second they said 6lbs. 9 oz. at 36 weeks and then when she was born at 39 weeks she was 7 lbs. 9 oz. So who knows lol! My growth scan at 36 weeks this time estimated 6 lbs. 6 oz. so we'll see.

@Sarafuss oh wow! Those eights really are all over the place between scan and actual. I wonder what this baby for you will eight in at versus their estimate.
another +1 for a constantly hard bump! And like @acunamatada especially when I'm standing. I think it is just the state of my bump. My doctor said this is especially true for a fit or FTM since the muscle is more toned and doesn't stretch as easily as it would for a STM. I've only recently started noticing BH because everything will start to feel extra hard and it will impede me from taking a deep breath, but it isn't painful.
@whiskeyandtrouble yeaaa i'm def neither a fit or FTM lol - I think in my case he's just trying to fall out through my belly button and gravity and his fat ass are making bump perpetually hard :-P
ok i am kick counting, laying on side after chugging an entire glass of ice water. i have 10 kicks in 1 hour and less than 10 in 2 is my hospitals thresh hold. However they are tiny flutter kicks. Nothing close to usual. GUidelines for calling say "if you feel much less movement than usual" as well as the 2 hour rule. Do you guys think smaller movements are different from the big ones when kick counting if big is what you are used to?I'm gonna call at 8 when they open but wanted to get opinnions on whether or not im being weird lol.
@smashjam I’ve read the frequency is most important and movements may feel lighter at this point since baby is running out of room. You’re probably okay, but that being said, trust your instinct and if something feels off it doesn’t hurt to call.
@zande2016@wildtot thanks, I ended up getting 10 BIG movements in just under 2 hours, and like, 30 little ones and he had the hiccups. Took him almost an hour to start moving though so I was a little worried at first!
@SmashJam Oh good, I'm glad he started moving more. It's so nerve wracking when they slow down, but I remind myself that occasionally they are going through growth spurts inside just like they will outside and get extra sleepy.
@SmashJam I’m glad his movement picked up! That’s always really scary! I had a couple days last week where I was sure he wasn’t moving at all, but every time I did a count then it was enough. These small movements are trippy.
@SmashJam I was at L&D on Tuesday for NST/fluid check for the same reason - major reduction in big movements - they assured me it's more number than force since they're running out of room and wedged in the pelvis limits momentum - but to trust your gut and never worry about calling over reduced movement.
Didn't find a product spotlight thread that covered this so I figured this was the next best thread.
Backseat mirrors for baby. Does anyone know of one that works on non adjustable seats? I drive a dodge charger and my headrest in the back seat are not adjustable which means any vehicle straps dont work.
@kbernal2021 sorry no good one to recommend - ours kept rotating and being more a PITA than a help
So my husband and i just had the same thought/question - DD totally gave me her headcold (headache, sore throat despite no tonsils, stuffy nose, cough) - wtf does that mean if I have the baby while still sick? They say to keep newborns away from currently/recently sick people - does that include the mother? I mean likelihood is low since i'm supposed to go another 2.5 weeks but it got me curious lol
@kbernal2021 it’s just a nylon strap with a plastic buckle. You can wrap it tightly around a stationary headrest, then the mirror itself can be swiveled and tilted until you can see babe.
@gingerbride26 do you plan to breastfeed? If so, you’d likely pass antiobodies/immunity to the baby and baby would be fine. I once had the famously contagious stomach bug while breastfeeding and somehow my son never go it.
@gingerbride26 I ditto zande. Unless you had something seriously dangerous to baby I doubt they’d keep you from him. And the breast milk does pass on antibodies to baby so that will help him to not get sick too.
Is anyone dealing with an unstable lie? I am 38 weeks today, and the baby keeps flipping. He was head down consistently for weeks and then at my fluid check on Monday he was transverse, my OB did an ultrasound on Thursday and he was head down again, but then an hour and a half later at another fluid check he moved again and was oblique. It’s a total mind fuck. If he isn’t head down I will have to get a c section, but since he was head down when I saw my OB she said that I should schedule an induction for 39 weeks to try to catch him head down. Of course 90 minutes after that he had moved again. I don’t know why he won’t settle down and engage, but it’s making me so anxious and sad. I don’t really want an induction but I would prefer it to a c section.
@emzie54 check out some of the spinning babies tricks, and try doing them daily. I swear my LO was constantly flipping ( I think he's settled now. Fx!) and the inversions and something frozen at the top of the tummy helped a lot I think. Also my midwife actually suggested one of those belly supports like this one or one that is thinner and long and allows you to wrap above and below the bump and to wear it at night to hold baby in place. She said she swears its why her baby didn't flip.
@gingerbride26 if you're sick now you are passing antibodies to the baby now, which will protect him when he is born. If you're sick after birth, try to nurse or pump and feed your milk. That's the advice my OB gave me before DS was born since everyone around me was getting sick.
@zande2016@hillbillywife@flockofmoosen3 wow...I think this cold is worse than I thought.....duh - of course I knew that about nursing and antibodies .... >_< I'm losing my mind - freaking head colds always make me feel dumb. This kid is going to have one amazing immune system - he's been through 3 stomach bugs, 2 sinus infections, bronchitis, and like 5 head colds...damn you daycare germs!
