  • Have my very first appointment tomorrow (I think I'm 11w2d today), and I'm super nervous.

First of all, I have to get blood tests done, and I absolutely hate blood tests. Not hate like, wow this sucks, I wish I didn't have to do it. Hate like...when I realized I was going to need blood tests, I had an anxiety attack and I've been having nightmares about it. The last time I had blood drawn (years ago), they couldn't find a vein in my arm and had to switch to my hand. I could feel it the entire time and it was the most awful sensation. Even now, if I think about it, I can feel the needle in my hand all over again. So not excited.

And on top of that, I'm nervous about the baby. Like what if I've been waiting these 11 weeks, and I go in there tomorrow and they cant find anything, or something is wrong? And I dont even get to meet with my real doctor until my next appointment, next week.

I just cant wait for tomorrow to be over, and hopefully be all good news, so that I can be excited about my NEXT appointment lol.

  • Second appt (first visit after initial confirmation of pregnancy) is on 7/13. My family’s in town and we take family photos next weekend. This sped up my blood draw for NIPT test (got it done today) since timing would be nice to find out that baby is ok and is a girl/boy.

I hope to see baby next Friday and hear the heartbeat. I also have to schedule for my NT scan in the next couple of weeks (11 wks today).

I'm 12+4 now...doctor put me a few days ahead based on ultrasound. :-) Everything looked good, thankfully. But she said she noticed a contraction and asked if I had been in any pain (I have been in mild pain). I googled it, seems to happen sometimes. She says it's nothing to worry about but may or may lead to early labor later on. Anyone had that happen?
  • Had an appt yesterday and got to hear baby's strong heartbeat! Also got bloodwork done for the panorama. Now we wait.
  • My first ultrasound is finally this Tuesday and I am anxiously waiting for this weekend to end! Haha.

I’ve had one other appointment, but he doctor just did a cervical exam so I haven’t heard a HB or anything yet.

Im just shy of 13 weeks, so my impatience is a little silly. With DS I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and another one at around 11 I think, but I was with a different OB for the first half the pregnancy.

Currently just living through all the wonderful reports of your ladies’ appointments :)

My pregnancy with DD I had an "irritable uterus" - I had cramping during first tri and then around 19 wks I had semi regular contractions and went to L and D. My cervix remained closed and baby stayed put. They gave me one shot of a tocolytic (to stop contractions) and I went home a few hours later. That was the point i was diagnosed with "irritable uterus". I would have contractions on and off the entire pregnancy. It was hard to tell for me when early labor actually started because I'd been having contractions for so many weeks.

My doc told me that many women with symptoms like mine go one to deliver at term, and that's what happened with me. It was pretty stressful at times because sometimes i would worry about pre term labor,  but in the end all was ok. Another lesson that we don't control anything in pregnancy.

Just sharing my experience so that you know at least one person who had early, non productive contractions (where your cervix stays long and closed) and delivered a full term baby. Hang in there!
  • I just had an ultrasound with the local high risk doctor, solely based on my age. Everything was great! Baby is on track and looking good.  Now I'm getting the blood work done. We we're able to see the genitals and she said it looked 'suspicious' but she doesn't confirm unless she's 100 % Looking like a boy but we'll know in about a week I guess.
  • I had my OB intake last week, as well as my draw for Panorama testing. Everything looks good and we discussed an ultrasound to check my cervix (past LEEP) around 16 weeks and we scheduled my anatomy scan. We talked about baby aspirin starting at 12 weeks to try and help with PIH/Pre-E and we did a baseline urine catch and labs. No more appoints this month which freaks me out a little lol.

  • I feel like so many people are getting their anatomy scans in early August. How exciting! My MFM won’t do them before 19 weeks 6 days.

  • Had my first appointment with the doctor today (had tests done last week). We got to do our first ultrasound, which was really fun. I thought my EDD would be around Jan 22, based on my period (so I would be around 12 weeks 2 days now)....but on the ultrasound the baby only measured at 10 weeks and 6 days, which would make my EDD February 1st. I'm still going to hang around the January board for now though, just in case it changes next time.
  • I start bi-weekly pre-term labor monitoring on the 16th that will basically continue until they get moved to weekly appointments the last month.  So every 2 wks I meet with my MFM and get a sono.  I also have a home healthcare nurse coming weekly starting the 20th to administer Makena injections and take vitals for monitoring.  Looking forward to the sonos but not so much all the waiting that comes with appointments every 2 wks :(

I have my NT scan on Tuesday. I have to drive to a new facility in an inconvenient place, and I’ll be going solo. So I’m super stressed about those logistics too. The ILs are going to come watch DD so I don’t have to take her with me, which is nice. I’ll probably leave extra ridiculously early so that I don’t have to worry about being late *knock on wood* and then just hang out in the waiting room for an hour, enjoying the quiet.

ETA: anatomy scan for me is August 28!

  • I went in today to meet with a new provider. I decided that I'm going to switch my care over to her. She actually took the time to talk to me about my concerns and the kind of birth that I want. In addition, their office actually bills my insurance throughout the entire pregnancy, as opposed to my previous provider who doesn't submit anything to insurance until after the baby is born. And, a bonus is that their birth center will be opening right before I'm due. Each room has a fireplace and a jacuzzi.

  • NT scan tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing how much baby grew. I'll also get the blood draw for the NIPT.

I get anxious before ultrasounds. I am excited by them but also terrified by the possibility of bad news.
  • NT scan was today. Everything looked good, and HB was in the 150s. Baby was measuring right on track size wise too!

Nothing now until my next appointment on August 2. I’ll probably schedule my last screening bloodwork to be later that day as well. Get it done in one trip.

  • I had an appointment last Tuesday at 14w5d. I got to hear baby's heartbeat (158) and didn't even think to record it. We're scheduled for our anatomy scan on August 14 and are so excited to find out what it is! DH is taking off work so that we can find out together and then do something cute to tell our families the sex.

Good for you! That birthing center sounds amazing! It’s important to have a provider you click with. My SIL changed providers at 36 weeks with her last pregnancy and was glad she did! Her old OB said earlier on that she supported VBACs and would allow her to go into labor on her own, but ended up really pushing and trying to scare her into scheduling a repeat C-section as she approaches her EDD. She’d kind of been bullied into a convenience induction a few days before Christmas on her first baby, by the same practice. She ended up having such a better experience with her new OB; it was night and day! Go with your gut!

I had my 12 week NT scan today. NT measurement was normal, and I got to hear the heartbeat (143). Baby was very wiggly and kept headbutting me, lol. It measured 3 days ahead which I know is in the margin of error and doesn't mean anything, but it makes me nervous.

  • Had a 15 week check up with my doctor today.  My BP is remaining normal (was high my entire first pregnancy), HB was a strong 150 and my weight gain is average.  Pleased that all went well, going back in 4 weeks and then will schedule my ultrasound (first one!) at that visit.
  • Question for everyone that is related to appointments. My midwife said she doesn't do weigh-ins because " it's not important", but I think it kind of is important... Does anyone else have someone who says the same thing? I weigh myself at appointments anyway, just to know, but I found it curious that she didn't care to know.
