I introed on a new discussion earlier today, but I had a blighted ovum last week. Waiting for bleeding to stop and then a normal cycle. Really hoping its just this month were on the bench, but shouldn't be more than two.
Pick me up song is Ice Ice Baby. I know it's weird, but it always pumps me up and puts me in a better mood.
2. Miscarriage on 5/8 at about 6 weeks along. Just waiting for my next cycle so we can try again! Just had a consult with my RE and he cleared me to start progesterone to induce a period, and we can start ttc within the next couple of weeks!
3. My pick me up song lately had been "nobody knows" by the lumineers. Just a nice, calm, uplifting song.
@catlady2015 I'm sorry about your recent loss, good luck with your next cycle!
@catlady2015 and @sagems10 I’m sorry for what brings you both to the bench. I hope your time off passes quickly
2. What brings you to the bench? Had surgery to remove a uterine septum on 5/24. Should be back in the game (and starting IUI/stims) in early July.
3. What is your pick me up song? Bonus points for a video... I like ‘Genghis Khan’ by Miike Snow and ‘Getting Ready to Get Down’ by Josh Ritter ( https://youtu.be/P_SlAzsXa7E and https://youtu.be/HnQ89jZvZD0 respectively- sorry for the mobile bumping). I like the dancing in the first video, and the lyrics/sentiment to the second.
@lin0442 I hope you are recovering well after your surgery!
Random question, are you guys taking advantage of the fact that you are benched to do things you couldn't do otherwise? We went to a theme park on memorial day and are going to some hot springs soon (although hubby will probably only do feets in the springs). I bring it up because it seems to have been pretty helpful for my mental state. Like yeah, I'm not pregnant, but at least I got to go on some roller coasters? Idk, it made me feel a bit better lol. Anyway, what activities have been making you feel better while you're benched?
@sagems10 - umm, yeah. totally doing that. I've been drinking the wine, eating soft cheese, having super hot baths, getting my hair dyed today (yay - I found out I was PG right before a cut/color so it's been over 12 weeks since I've dyed my hair. thankfully I'm blonder but I've had some gray since I was 25 and it's totally showing and ticking me off). I need to get some dental work done and I'm squeezing that in too.
Do ALL the things you want to but know you can't while you're trying. It's been a big help for my mental state. Like, "#&%@ you, MC, I'm doing this!" It's giving me something I can control, where I can put myself first instead of sacrificing things I want to do b/c it may hurt a fetus. I hope you enjoy the hot springs and anything else you want to do that's not pregnancy-friendly!
@sagems10 I’m doing well, thank you! TMI but I’m a little ticked at the office since they didn’t make it clear that the dr discouraged sex for the *whole* recovery cycle and the nurse took a week to answer my question about it. So, since DH and I have libidos we had sex twice in the meantime- since the office hadn’t responded we figured it was nbd after a couple of weeks. I’m trying not to flip out and worry
I start oral progesterone today and I hope the side effects don’t hit me too hard, but it does mean the end of this cycle is in sight.
And yes! I think the benched break has been a huge boon to my mental health. I’m enjoying coffee, wine, soft cheese, all those good things. But I’m especially enjoying not disappointing myself and getting so worked up about my cycle. I’ve taken a bit of a step back from the bump (still lurking), and it’s really helped me just calm the eff down a bit. I was so hurt after not getting pg in April, it was a bad time.
I introe’d on another thread as well but I’m benched due to second trimester missed miscarriage at almost 16 weeks. We found out 6/5 and I had a D&C 6/6. Benched for one cycle so just waiting for AF... I know it could be a good long while. I’ve been feeling really low. It’s tough.
@lin0442 Also so I have totally been doing all the things I avoided in pregnancy! DH and I spent an inordinate amount of time picking out unpasteurized cheeses at the grocery store, I’ve drank loads of wine and having lots of lattes. It helps!
@obsessedwithoranges Welcome. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you can take some time to process. (Everyone is different, but after my 13 week loss it took about 40 days for my cycle to return after the D&C.)
@lin0442 thank you. I’ve been trying to mentally prepare for a potentially long wait. For me, the not being able to DO anything about it is the hardest part.
I wish we all did not have to be here. I’m grateful everyone here has been so nice and welcoming.
@obsessedwithoranges - I'm sorry you need to be in our club, but I'm glad you found your way over here. Welcome! I'm also having trouble NOT doing anything about it as well, hence the fun I've been having with hair dye, soft cheeses, and hot baths. I figure the best thing I can do for myself at the moment is self care. Doing things I couldn't while pregnant is definitely helping, and I want to make sure I'm in a good place mentally when we try again so I've been focusing on processing things as best I can. I won't ever have all the answers, but at least I know what type of MC it was and it hasn't indicated that anything would be awry were we to try again.
We're always here if you need a chat or a shoulder!
@catlady2015 oh yeah, I dyed my hair too! Funny how changing your hair makes you feel a little more in control of your life also need to go to the dentist, but I'm avoiding it because I absolutely HATE it...
@lin0442 I'm also on progesterone right now to trigger AF. It always makes me feel a little sick the first few days.
@obsessedwithoranges I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't think about soft cheeses! I absolutely love blue cheese, I will have to go pick some up!
Hi I'm new here *waves*
I've actually been on this board since the end of January and haven't felt the need to post.
I'm benched as I'm currently going through my second loss of this year. First was end of January and this one my hcg still hasnt gone back to 0 yet just sitting at 12. So probably be benched next month also depending on what the plan is.
@ripplemonster I’m so sorry for your losses. It sucks. I hope your levels drop soon. On another note I also love Maroon 5! Their songs are very catchy!
@obsessedwithoranges Thank you and sorry about your loss. My first was 10 weeks along and that was hard so I feel greatly for you.
I actually couldn't decide which Maroon 5 song was my favourite (I love them all) but I listened to this on my drive home from my blood work today and it made me forget for a few minutes
@catlady2015 Thank you, sorry for your loss also. And thanks for the official welcome. I don't know why I was so worried to post before.
@ripplemonster welcome to the boards! I am so sorry for your losses, that must be really hard to go through two so close together. I hope your levels drop quickly!
1. Did a separate intro but feel so out of the loop - there are new abbreviations going on here I have to learn! 2. Back to back MMC. Still in recovery from my last one. DH and I decided it would be best to take a couple of months off so I just started BC. 3. Oh man, I am a major music nerd - I listen to musicals in my car most of the time (don’t judge). But I feel Stronger by Kelly Carkson is a pretty good one to lift me up when feeling down
1. Introduce yourself if new Not new, recently returned
2. What brings you to the bench? 2nd MMC. Found out at 14 weeks, baby stopped growing about 10 weeks. D&C was on Tuesday. Benched while we try to figure out WTF is going on.
3. What is your pick me up song? Florence and the Machine- Shake it Off

Hey, Im new here, joined the bump when I found out we were expecting. This was the first pregnancy for us and not even a week after we found out I was told I would miscarry due to my numbers. miscarriage at 5 weeks 4 days. It felt like the period from hell. Doctor advised to wait one cycle before trying again. So hard to wait but, hopefully this next month flies by! I feel like my clock is just ticking along in wasted time even though I'm only 26. I thought we would have trouble getting pregnant with my PCOD not staying pregnant.
1. Hey, I came from the Jan 2019 board. 2. Was due Jan 4th but mc on may 24th. It's been a while and I'm just now getting around to feeling comfortable being back on this app. My baby stopped developing at 6 weeks and when i went in for 8 week the baby had been reabsorbed, I was left with the sac and my body was already in the process of bleeding, I just hadn't seen it yet. had misapropyl for assistance, bled for a week, been symptom and blood free for about 4 weeks now and I just started having some light cramps and very light bleeding so I'm hoping it's my period? I also am still showing as positive on hpt so I'm hoping the bleeding gets rid of any leftover stuff if that's the issue....anyway, I cant wait for this weird limbo to be over with so I can get on with my life. 3. I cant pick anything so I'm going to go with painting as a pick me up because it's super cathartic
I'm so sorry for your loss @nottodaysatan. After my first D&C I still had a +HPT the day before my first post-loss period started (4 weeks after the D&C). I ovulated about 2 weeks after that so I assumed that first period brought my HCG back to zero. Hopefully that's the case for you too so you're not stuck in limbo much longer.
