@PensiveCrayon I used to make a less fancy version of these with just three ingredients: white sugar, peanut butter, and eggs. So good and I can pretend they are *kind* of healthy. Thanks for reminding me! I might try this grown up version this week.
@PensiveCrayon I make a similar limited ingredient granola bar that I found on a blog years ago (minimalist something, don’t quite remember). They are just peanut butter, dates, oats, almonds, and either honey or maple syrup mixed up! Not as sinfully delicious as cookies, but they are a good snack to keep around that’s more or less “healthy”
I submitted my qualifier!!! It was 1 minute late and I don't feel awesome about it, but it's in. Thanks for listening to me moan about it for the last week.
@countrygirl624 that always confuses me for some reason too, so I've always just said how many weeks, which I think confuses non-pregnant people. So thanks for that visual @Jens_Hoes !
@snugglyduckling25 i used to be one of those confused non pregnant ppl with the weeks. now its so much easier to go by weeks lol. i get it! the month distinctions are confusing
When people ask I just base it on how many months until my due date and the fact that everyone thinks pregnancy is a perfect 9 month thing. Due date is 12/10, so I'm "3.5 months pregnant" or honestly this weekend when we tell extended family, "about 4 months". I don't bother trying to translate weeks to months because I just wind up confused.
@katy0990 What a sweet reaction from your DS...sounds like he's pretty dang excited to be a big brother! Oh man, the principle/principal misspelling...by a principal?! That's just wrong. It drives me nuts too!

@PensiveCrayon That recipe sounds delicious (why yes, yes I do have all of those ingredients!)...thanks for sharing!
In case anyone was interested in following along, I think my interview went well. The preschool had an inservice week, so there weren’t kids on site. They asked me to come back in two weeks to observe what the classroom is like with kids in it, and the interactions between the infant teachers and the babies.
I ended up not mentioning my pregnancy because I figured it could wait for the if-I-get-a-call-back moment. Or in this case, the day I return for the observation because that will be the day after my next appointment and I can ease my pgal brain that I am indeed still pregnant before I say anything.
My random for the day is that I dropped my son off at the on-post daycare and took the morning to write. Hooray! I got just shy of 2,500 words written, which is excellent considering I've been in a huge writing/life slump.
The sad part of it is that my poor kid started crying before I even left him, and when I went to pick him back up he was at the window beside the door just looking out for me. Like apparently that's where he was happiest the entire four hours I was gone I love taking the morning off from momming to write because it makes me feel human again, and I especially love knowing that he misses me because he's super independent at home, but at the same time it hurts my soul to just leave him while he's crying!

@tumbleweed-1 I am glad it went well! Based on my experience working in childcare centers, it sounds like it must be a great place to work if they are able to take their time with hiring. Most childcare centers around here most childcare centers around here have such high turnover that they hire as quickly as possible, so that’s a good sign.
@PensiveCrayon Momming is hard. You are doing what is best for your kiddo by taking time for yourself and exposing him to other experiences without you. *hugs*
I'm meeting with HR tomorrow to discuss the clusterfuck that is FMLA and what my options are if/when I need to take some time off to care for my mom, and how that'll impact what I can take off when I have this kid. I feel like saying, "screw it. I'd like to just take a 6 month leave of absence starting in December k thanks" but going back to work after that much time would be torture.
I am too stubborn to pay for a professional hair coloring right now.. anyone have a specific brand of box dye that you like? I'm a dirty blonde right now.
I went over to the BRU/TRU somewhat near my work over my lunch break and it's already closed...wah wah wah waaaaaaah. Thank goodness my favorite Korean place was nearby to save the day!
@temmetime I haven't dyed my hair in a minute, but I always liked Garnier Nutrisse. I do the medium reddish brown (sangria), so I'm not sure how the blondes look.
@clbness I think I read that all of the remaining toys r us closed this week. Not sure if it’s the same deal for BRU. I went last week as well and they were pretty much cleaned out. I ended up not getting anything.
I love when I tell mh 'We need to leave (for our 6 hr road trip) at 10' and then at 9:40 he tells me he's going on a quick run. This man has absolutely no concept of time. It's so frustrating.
@rosebud332 I had heard they were closing "by Friday." So, I was prepared for a letdown.
@texas_t I got an order of tteokbokki! And the lady threw in a couple little sides of kimchi cucumbers, because she's AWESOME!
@morgantu Have a great trip! Unfortunately, it gets worse after kids (hopefully not with your H). They'll be ready to go and sitting on the couch watching TV waiting for you to get yourself AND the kid(s) all packed up. Hmm, maybe ask if I need help?!
Well, unfortunately it looks like our AC unit needs replaced. Technically we could have them put more refrigerant in it, but we plan to replace it by fall anyways, so may as well get it done. I'm just hoping between us and my mom (technically the house owner) we don't have to finance any of the cost!
HR follow up - she said that even if I take 60 days fmla to be with my mom, they'll make sure I have "approved leave" when the baby is born to get me to 2019, at which point the fmla will reset. So I'll definitely have 12 weeks with baby, and I don't have to worry about how spending time with my mom will affect that. Just need to worry about how to pay for so much unpaid leave, if/when I decide to take it.
Re: Weekday Randoms 6/25-6/29
Awwww that's so cute! Kids are awesome
Thanks ladies!!! I’ve been saying I’m almost 4 months so I just wanted to make sure that was accurate!

+1 for going by weeks instead of months.
