I started a yoga class 3 weeks ago...I had been doing a little bit at home, but wasn't good about it. It's made a huge difference for my hips/pelvis. I do need to keep it in mind, keep my feet closer together than I normally would, and really focus keeping myself aligned, and listening to my body to be sure I'm using muscles to help hold stable. Plus a couple poses I have to either heavily modify (approximate it) or just not do it at all. But just a couple weeks in and I feel much stronger so it's obviously making a difference and less pain too.

I'm totally MIA on here lately but I'm kind of consumed by this pain. I can't do anything. I can't function. But I feel guilty because the pain is usually mild to moderate but it's constant and any sort of change in position causes a spike in pain. Some days I can move around some and maybe even go to the grocery store. Then days like today I just wanted to sleep through the pain all day and could barely move. I feel guilty about taking so much Tylenol especially when it provides negligible relief. I'm getting so depressed. I cried myself to sleep last night. The pain woke me up in the middle of the night and it took a long time to fall asleep again. I've cried a lot through the day. I'm just so tried of never being pain free. All I want to do is nest and organize and work on the nursery and be able to play outside with DD and make memories of her last little bit of time as an only child. I'm sorry for only getting on here to complain. I'm just really struggling when I want to be focused on the fact that a new lttle life is going to be coming into our world. I want to be excited. But lately I barely think about him. I just think about how much longer until the pain stops and how I don't want to have to bear it that long and worrying about what I'll do if it doesn't go away after delivery.
@Redpuma119 I have seen those ball chairs. I asked for one but got an annoyed emoji face back. I don't think anything having to do with an exercise ball will be provided, ha. My feet decided to start swelling, so now I'm trying to prop them, which isn't great on the hips. I'm resigned to just being uncomfortable no matter what I do now.
@Car0liiine I soo feel you. DH is being a huge help, but I feel awful guilty for not being able to help more. It's all I can do to work during the day and walk around the block at night during the week. I crash Saturday, and Sunday I can just get the floors vacuumed maybe a load of laundry, then my hips are done. I want to hire a maid service to maintain, but I'm too embarrassed to do it without organizing and cleaning first. So I never make it to that point. I honestly don't know how STMs do it. I can't imagine being pregnant with another LO to take care of. Hang in there.
@rachel1008 That's too bad. I am super feisty and would probably have my dr provide some sort of written proof, if she was able to do that. At my work, we have to have "light duty" options, lifting restrictions, designated areas for pumping. I understand you don't want to ruffle feathers though
@car0liiine I would go see your dr right away. Not only for the pain, but for your mental well being as well. My dr has gave me the okay to take some meds that I thought weren't allowed during pregnancy, but helped me a lot.
@car0liiine Hugs friend. This is so brutal. I agree with @redpuma119 about seeing your doctor. You do not deserve to live this way! There's absolutely going to be something they can do to help.
Thanks for starting this thread. I think what I'm experiencing is SPD. It's pain I've felt with my first pregnancy but I tolerated it. It's much worse this time and came on earlier. And only on my left side. I saw a chiropractor and it didn't do anything for me. Sitting on an exercise ball feels good. There was mention of a belly band. How does that help your groin? I don't want to waste my money if I don't actually need one. One thing it says to avoid is squatting but I squat a lot at work (health care field). It makes work so miserable. For putting on my underwear or pants I sit on the side of the bed because I can't lift my leg up when standing. And for getting out of the car, keeping my legs together does help.
@mrsman2018 the belly support should help (I believe) by taking some pressure off the area. I've been wearing one and it does help my pelvic pain to some degree. For me though the dang belt(s) cause pressure points and other pains/discomforts so they aren't a cure all, more a means to choose which pain I want to deal with based on what I need to accomplish.
I was finally able to see a PT who specializes in pregnancy and postpartum. She recommended a serola sacroiliac belt which has definitely helped me feel more stable in my hips. (I purchased directly from the serola biomechanics website, their price was less than on amazon). She also told me to make sure I’m doing kegals 10x10seconds every day. I’m also supposed to do everything as though I’m wearing a tight mini skirt (legs together, working as one unit as much as possible). She told me I can do any workout movements that are symmetrical, so squats, deadlifts are okay, but no lunges or warrior poses.
my major complaints have been: hip stiffness, pain in the pelvic/ groin region, especially when trying to roll over in bed, and sometimes peeing a little when I sneeze.
I hope this helps someone a little. Do all the kegals!!!

What brand do you use?
This one. I ordered mine on Amazon for my last pregnancy.
Eta: I mostly like it. Depending on the day though it puts pressure on my bladder or lower uterus or something down there that is really uncomfortable. But it does help with my pelvic/back pain.
I have one of the regular maternity belts from Azmed that I got on Amazon, because I read what @stothi said about it taking pressure off the pelvic floor. It's ok, but I do find it uncomfortable when sitting, and I'm up and down all day at work. I'm hesitant to buy the specific pelvic ones because my pain is less in the SI joint and more in the pubic area on both sides. Maybe it helps keep those joints stay together too, but I'm being whiney about the price, lol.
Also, wish I'd known how important kegels were to keeping pelvic pain at bay from the beginning or I'd have taken it more seriously since I'd already had hip pain from mild dysplasia in the past.
I think it's just called "Pregnancy" but the icon looks like this: <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/t4/x7p81ybtotan.jpg" alt=""> @Redpuma119
@mrsman2018 I use the baby belly band by cabela. They have groin straps that cross. I started wearing it earlier in subsequent pregnancies and it really helps. Although, some women that have severe SPD do end up using walkers if PT can’t help. And yes, speak with your OB but I highly recommend ordering the band today if possible.
@Car0liiine Agree to get in and see your doctor ASAP. I think that you need a referral to a pain specialist. There are things that you can take and things that you can do. It sounds like you need way more help than what you’re getting. With DS, ended up getting a femoral nerve block under guided ultrasound. It was very helpful and for my lower back pain with DD, I had 40 trigger point injections into my lower back on two different occasions. Both of these are safe for pregnancy and work about 1000 times better than Tylenol.
@redpuma119 We ordered a Purple cushion from Amazon and it seems to be helping with tailbone pain. It definitely adds a lot of stability when I'm sitting in an office chair. Thanks for the suggestion!
Also we've been calling it my "butt cushion" because we are six years old inside
Thanks for your advice and concern everyone! I had my first PT appointment on Thursday. She didn't think it's sciatica but didn't really say what muscles/nerves/whatever specifically seems to be out of whack. She gave me some light exercises to do (clamshells, pelvic tilts) and recommended the cat/cow and child poses for stretches. I had a second appointment Friday. I realize she isn't going to be making any recommendations about pain medication (she did suggest cold pack instead of heating pad.) But at least I can now tell the OB that I'm doing the PT - what else ya got? *But* the past few days my pain has improved drastically! I don't see how it could be due to these very light exercises, maybe it's coincidence, maybe baby shifted, I don't know. But you'd best believe I'm gonna be diligently keeping up with my exercises just in case! Yesterday I was able to go to the grocery store AND do the dishes AND take DD outside for a short time! Today I went to a housewarming party and then started helping DH paint DD's new room!!! It sounds like nothing, but these are the things I've been longing to do for the past several weeks. I just pray I don't regress, but right now I'm counting my blessings!
@mrsman2018 hey girl! I got this one shipped to me Canada... got it quickly and the price was good. Here is a good review for this one: https://www.amazon.com/Gabrialla-Elastic-Maternity-Support-Medium/dp/B005DFD1EE?th=1 I found the back support to be really nice. Lifts up and supports the tummy without feeling uncomfortable. Stays in place well ( I only wear it for running ) and added bonus I found was it removed pressure on my bladder. bad review on this one: https://www.baobeimaternity.com/ ( I purchased the pro bump... held in customs for nearly 3 weeks in Vancouver as it ships from California ) I was really excited to try it, found lots of good reviews online and from running bloggers I would trust. Pricey. Didn't offer much support unless was standing still and even then it just felt tight in the wrong places and uncomfortable.
I know every body/pregnancy is different but wanted to share what has worked/not worked for me

Still doing much better than I was a week or so ago, but still having some pain. My OB appointment today was thankfully with the doctor who delivered DD and the one I've chosen as my regular GYN - thank goodness! He is just a delight to deal with compared to others. (Is fast, but never at the expense of making sure all my concerns are addressed. Doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot and explains things in medical terms since he has heard enough from me to know I understand them and prefer this.) And instead of suggesting a GD warm bath if I have level 8 pain again like the other providers , he gave me a Rx for tramadol just in case. Hallelujah! Just the reassurance that I have an option that might actually give me some relief if I feel I need it is such a huge relief!
I left a message with my OB on MONDAY and today her receptionist called me back (after I kept calling) and said my OB is busy and has not read the message yet! I told her all my pain and she said there is nothing she can do. And now my OB is out of office until Tuesday and I could cry.
@mrsman2018 Um that's not acceptable! No advice from the triage nurse?? Could you call your PCP/GP? Have you gotten a support belt yet? I'm having a touch of SPD and my physical therapist recommended I start using one if it is bothering me. Try to keep everything symmetrical in your pelvic posture and movements. Avoid crossing legs, sitting/standing with weight on one hip, keep knees together when getting into/out of cars/bed. I bet you could Google some stretches or exercises that might help, just don't do anything that causes more than very slight discomfort and don't over do it. And I would let your doctor know that it's really not acceptable for her to have not even read your message after 4 or 5 days and to not be responding for at least 8!
I am going to call my GP tomorrow an make an appt with him but I doubt I will be able to get in quick. And I have an appt with my PT on Wednesday. I was going to wait to see him and see what he says about the support belt. I don't want to spend money on it if I don't need to - although I think I do need one. And yes, totally unacceptable of my OB. I know you are busy but in 5 days you should find 5 minutes to call me back! Keeping everything symmetrical has been helping, like getting out of the car with my legs together. For my work I am in and out of the car around 30x a day, so it sucks. And I squat a lot for work but it is physically impossible for me to squat now. I have tried and it is not gonna work. I will let me Dr know how I do not like how she just left me hanging in pain for so long.
Ugh. I’ve been to PT 3 times and have been doing all the recommendations at home. Today has been almost unbearable. It’s like constant lightning crotch that radiates down the inside of both of my legs. I try not to complain, but damn, this has me not doing anything all day because walking hurts. Standing hurts. Stairs hurt. I’m really hoping this is just for today and not the new normal.
arbell615 Oh no, I hope it is better tomorrow. What were some of your PT's recommendations? I am seeing a PT in the next week and interested to hear what he says to do about my "lightning crotch." Work is near impossible right now.
@mrsman2018 kegals, glute bridge, and countertop plank, as well as acting like I’m wearing a tight mini skirt when moving (sitting, standing, rolling over in bed). She also recommended a serola sacroiliac belt which I use whenever I’ll be walking for any length of time, it basically holds your hips in place since all those ligaments are relaxing for birth. I’ll be curious to see what recommendations you get!
@arbell615 and @mrsman2018 Crossing fingers for you. 3 days ago I had a flare, and it hasn't ended. I'm doing all the right things but even with legs together rolling into or out of bed is excruciating. This happened to me last time too, but a little later on. Nothing helped me including the belt.

arbell615pourmeamocktail Saw my PT today and I told him my symptoms were "lightning crotch," hurts walking and pain when separating my legs when I get out of the car or when getting out of bed. He said I could buy a support belt but he taped my back with athletic tape and said I may want to try that first for about a week - he gave me more tape to use when this comes off in a few days. I guess this tape will help hold my pelvis closed because of the gap. He gave me deep breathing exercises and one squeezing a ball between my legs. Then 3 things to do with my husband. 1. The jiggle. Sounds funny but I am on all fours and DH kinda like shakes my butt. Ha. 2. Panning for gold. I am on all fours and DH puts a large scarf around my bump for support and lifts gently only to relieve some pressure. Then gently sways back and forth, as if he is "panning for gold."?? 3. Kneading bread. I lay on my side and he kneads my butt like he is kneading bread. These actually all sounds silly but the jiggle and knead feel really good. Have not tried the panning for gold. pourmeamocktail Hope you get some relief soon.
