brought the kids to the pool for the first time this afternoon and it was above expectations. Thank god for the chest/arm floaters. I didn't have to chase them around in the pool, worry if the other was drowning while I held the other above water, etc. I was able to sit in the chair and relax for nearly the entire time. It seems I might have to start bringing a book if it's really going to work out this well.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
I woke up to a dog turd in my bed this morning. Picked it up with my bare hands in my half awake confusion as to what this ball in my bed was. Needless to say I was awake after that.

@coybig My dad always read at the pool, even when I couldn't properly swim. Surprised him when he looked up one day and saw me treading in the deep end. He went back to his book
@Hollyyyyy I've never smelled Sun In before! I'll get real nosey this summer with my husband's classmate's families and ask if anyone uses it...just so I can sniff it, haha!
@coco2787 Dogs. Sorry yours crapped the bed That's not cool.
This afternoon my wolf-man-dog chugged a bird. Full grown (slow) pigeon. Little to no chewing. Down the gullet. Two minutes after the vet closed and stopped answering the phones. *le sigh* DH had just gotten home so we induced vomiting and he cleaned up the freshly-dead bird. Next time though we might just let it pass. I read (after the fact) that dogs can easily digest live birds, but I don't have to like it. It was kind of impressive though.

oh wow @echo-charlietango that is both horrifying and also a little hilarious. My dog has caught a bird before but she doesn't have killing instincts (she's a pointer) so she mostly just maimed it and we had to put it out of its misery. I almost would have preferred the swallowing whole (minus the vomiting up bird part)

@echo-charlietango Oh my gosh! That is impressive. And gross. When I was pregnant with DS my dog got ahold of a baby bird that fell out of it's next and wouldn't let it go. I finally got it out of her mouth and I was in tears. I moved it and had DH burry it when he got home from work. I was so upset.
@Activebaby I saw that. I never watched his stuff but that's terrible. It is so sad. It just goes to show that money really does not buy happiness and all these people wishing they were rich and thinking they'd be happy are so far off. There really does need to be more awareness and help for depression and other problems.

I usually shave but sometime in 2nd trimester last time I started waxing regularly legs, Brazilian. I’ll have to find a new place around here.
Right now it’s probably been 10 days on the legs. No problem because it has been freezing here and my office is always blasting too much AC. It’s going to be warmer this weekend, so I’ll give in and shave.
@Activebaby I really, really admired and liked him. I cried when I found out this morning. I work in unscripted (reality) television and his Parts Unknown show was always what I pointed to to show the incredible potential of the genre, because it's simply extraordinary. He leaves such a legacy but I'm so very sad he's gone.
@Activebaby@maureenmce One of the very few celebrity deaths that has made me truly sad. I watched No Reservations in real-time from beginning to end. He really seemed to have it all figured out. But you just never know what's going on inside people. So so sad.
@morgantu - Thank you! It's going to be between me and one other internal candidate. She has a leg up because she is already on the executive board but I am definitely more qualified.
The only thing is that if I do get it.. I'll have to take a shorter maternity leave.. if I don't get it.. I am going to take 6 months. HARD!

This is making me so sad today. I loved him and the way he portrayed the restaurant industry (which I was in for 14 very formative years of my life), and taught us about people and the world. The more I think about it the sadder I get. I’m not surprised, given what he’s said about his own mental health and struggles with addiction, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
Good luck @lexidawg We are going to a Ren Faire tomorrow and it looks like it’ll be raining, but I’m still super excited! I’ve pulled together some clothes and stuff today to make a sort of traditional Scottish highland costume. We went years ago and I did a bit of archery and we watched jousting and falconry.
My food aversions & low blood pressure both loosened their grips and I cooked spaghetti! Easy food, I know, but the noodles were cooked in chicken broth so it was more flavorful - best was that DH was really happy. I miss cooking every night

@echo-charlietango that sounds so good! I’ve been wanting spaghetti for days. I’m feeling lazy tonight, however and dinner is tortilla chips dipped in chili and then mango salsa if I’m still hungry.
@lexidawg good luck!! At least there's positives to both outcomes!
Guys...idk what's wrong with me. I'm tired and it's after midnight here, but I don't want to sleep like I'd be fine staying up to sew another shirt for our friends sons birthday party on Sunday, but I know I need the sleep...pregnancy is weird man!
@PensiveCrayon Yes ma’am! The goal (for me) is to get the pasta/broth ratio juuuuust right so you don’t need to drain the noodles - thus preserving all of the broth’s goodness. When noodles are al dente, add sauce (we just use a 14oz can fire-roasted diced tomatoes + 1 tiny can tomato paste. Add spices & Worcestershire sauce). The first bowls will be a bit liquidy, but it firms up nicely so any leftovers look like regular pasta!
Last night’s ratio that worked well was 1 carton broth (32oz) with about 8oz dry fettuccini. Om nom nom!

@tumbleweed-1 I love going to Ren Faire! Ours here starts the last weekend of August to the last weekend of October. The past couple years (except this past one) we've gone twice a year. This time, I think we will only be going once again. I can't wait to have a turkey leg! lol
