The neighbor lady asked if I knew what "we" were having. Cue insane hormonal overreaction rant in my head while trying to keep a smile on my face. In my head, "We!? We? "We" aren't having shit! My husband and I are having a boy but "we" as in a statement that includes you, are not having anything cause there is no "we"! There's no "we"! Get off my fucking lawn!!!" What I said outloud, "it's another boy "
I lost my mind over an innocent question. Fairly certain there was smoke billowing out of my ears.
I'm happy about only having three big items left to get; car seat, glider and Owlet. Everything is coming together. DH did mention that he didn't think they were doing anything for him at his work. I told him that is fine, they just better not ask for him to contribute to any party/shower anymore. We have got just about all of our bigger stuff ourselves but DH has spent around $300 in the past three years on showers and parties for his colleagues.
On a brighter note, his family is throwing a small shower for us on Saturday. I'm excited about seeing all of his aunts that are flying in.
I'm trying not to stress because this work week is going to be crazy. I'm hoping my projects go smoothly so I can actually get them done. Also management has decided against the person I thought was good to go as my backup for maternity leave. I guess I will uninvite him to the field work I have planned on Thursday.
@businesswife ugh that meme is too real. I'm already tired of the same conversation everyone wants to hold with me. Them "Oh you're pregnant!" "When are you due?" "Do you know what you're having?" "are you excited?". I probably look so rude when responding because I'm already bored with this same conversation. I also feel really bad for anyone I've ever done this to.
I have a weird work week since I needed to move things around last minute. Kind of agitated about that. But it's my last full work week before our vacation so hopefully it flies by!
Last night I said “that’s a big phone you’ve got there” to my uncle. He has a 7 plus in a ginormous case. Anyway, he thought an appropriate response was to say “yeah. That’s a giant belly you’ve got there.” I made a not so nice comment about it and my grandma went off on him. Thank you grandma. My uncle is so clueless.
Got a pedicure yesterday and I sat next to a woman who is also pregnant. She's due soon and has a scheduled c-section for Thursday! This is her 5th, and so calm about everything. It was really nice to talk with another mom just relaxing getting our nails done.
Almost all of our trim is done, just one window left that I hope we can tackle this weekend. Also need to clean out our backporch. But my around the house to do list is getting smaller, about time! Soon we will be able to start on room #2 and that will be great.
Work will be busy again this week, but that's okay. I'm going to have to request FMLA paperwork soon so that I can get that in order, and also meet with my manager about my leave plans.
Apparently I treated this as a mini todo list, sorry ladies!
@stothi smoke coming out of your ears is completely called for in this instance! I think that is why I have been so grumpy lately is I feel like the whole world thinks this baby is collectively “ours”. This pregnancy belongs to no one other than you and your husband! Babies make people crazy!
@skilledsailor completely agree about the questions and conversations people want to have. I have promised myself I would not ask questions like that in the future! Pregnant women just want to be themselves and live life as normally as possible.
It's only Monday, and I am so tired. This weekend I had a work event Friday evening, a "brunch meeting" Saturday morning, a fundraising event for DS's school on Saturday night, and lots of to-dos Sunday. I do not wish to count the pregnancy-focused small talk conversations I had to smile through. Almost (almost) glad to be back to a regularly scheduled Monday workday.
@southernlady07 We'll be flying back from FL that day but I'm thinking I'll get him a card and some copper mugs for him to open when we get home. Nothing big.
I just bought dh’s gift today! I was totally lazy and just used amazon without price shopping like I normally would. edited to add: I bought him a mount for his deer antlers and a bluetooth meat thermometer cause we are always ruining ours and he has really taken over the cooking.
Also, I completely forgot to plan for the usual gift: Each year so far I do a photo shoot w dd, and in one pic she is holding a pic of her holding the pic from the year before... it started when the first year we got an adorable pic of her holding a photo of him holding her at the hospital. I get in on a pic w her too so he has “us” at the office w him. It’s also the one time a year I can count on a cute pic of dd and me. I get adorable candida of the two of them all the time, but never her and I.

@stothi delayed reaction lol but that was me yesterday, too. Luckily I wasn't too pissed, but like @SkilledSailor, it definitely gets annoying, mostly also bc we are Team Green, so when the lady at the furniture store asks me, "what we are having," I flat out told her we are pretty sure that it's a tiny human. Omg WHAT IS IT??? She gave me this look like I was being a smartass, but I mean seriously. What difference does it make if we are obviously looking at neutral-coloured fabric swatches??? *autocorrect is worthless
People "Do you know what you are having?" Me "Yes, but we're not sharing." (Some close friends and family know but that's it.) It gets people quiet real quick and is fun!!!!

For Father's day gifts I get hubby a matching shirt set for him and Buddy. This year was tricky trying to find a Dad/Toddler AND Infant set. There weren't as many options as you'd think. Tons of options for just the one kid, but not so many for multiples. I usually get him a food treat and dress Buddy in some kind of "I love Dad," shirt. This year I got Buddy a shirt that says, "I am your Father's Day gift. Mom says you're welcome." For the first Father's day while I was pregnant with Buddy I got hubby some dad to be books and matching embroidered Converse Father/Son shoes. I totally didn't understand kids' shoe sizes though and ordered a kids' size whatever and not a baby/toddler size, so the shoes have yet be worn these 3 years later. Oops! They look cute on the shelf though.
@arcticseal-2 the only people who know about Polly are those invited to shower. Mostly DH's family and a few friends. I keep getting asked on social media if we know what we're having and I just ignore it. I won't even respond. I'm like if I wanted you to know... I'd make a public announcement.
When you're watching Ali Wong on Netflix and realise you have everything you need to make ground beef Korean spinach bowl... as in one bowl. For me. DH may or may not get to have any...

Pinterest has decided I should be targeted with how to survive pregnancy in summer. News flash ladies...drink lots of water and stay in the air conditioning as much as you can!!!
@SkilledSailor "are you excited?" no, I'm not, but my husband is. is my usual smart ass reply.
My DH has band practice at our house on Mondays, I am sitting upstairs but the baby seems to enjoy (or hate?) the noise. Better get used to it little one, this is a noisy house. Side note: we already got tiny noise-cancelling headphones.
Today I got super annoyed cause the MIL was pressuring me to invite yet another one of her friends to my baby shower, whereas my mom has been reasonable and said it's my shower and to invite who I want. The MIL has 5 friends coming, I invited 2 for my mom so she wouldn't be all alone. I don't know if I'm being super unreasonable in being so annoyed or not. I'll hopefully sleep it off and be in a better mood tomorrow.
@tpeci I tried to balance their wants with my wants/needs. If your MIL has 5 friends coming and you don’t want to invite anymore then it is okay to put your foot down. My biggest thing is a shower is to give someone gifts and because I am making the guest list I am basically asking you for a gift. If I would not feel comfortable doing that in person I don’t want to invite you to my shower.
@tpeci is she the host? I would give a host extra invites, and it might seem annoying but her friends are probably really excited for her to be a grandma and most people really enjoy giving baby gifts. If she is not the host then absolutely limit her +1s
@klj0228@EErin86 I am actually hosting it because my mom is busy, the MIL lives in a condo so not enough space and the SIL is getting married 2 weeks after and she'll be super stressed with her wedding prep. I think they're just excited like you said, but so are my mom's friends. We are already 23 and I never imagined a shower being so huge... I'm quite the introvert so the smaller crowd the better. It's also a matter of being fair to my mom as well, who's friends I know better and get along with better anyway. Anyway. I'll get over it I'm still annoyed for now. I could just balance it out and let my mom invite a few more friends but that's definitely not the point or why I'm annoyed to start with.
@BusinessWife great meme and I totally agree, everyone has a comment eh? @jhjocelyn that's great gift idea! thank you for sharing, my husband would love something like this. @klj0228 love the pic, thats kind of how I feel when I am bending over putting on my sneakers/pants these days hehe @nlc8424 5 kids! wow that lady is a champ great person to talk to i'm sure. I actually went to a yoga class!!!! It was challenging but I was still able to keep up (regular class). I'll either feel awesome tomorrow or not be able to walk
So I was kind of thinking that my belly hadn't changed too much from last week to this week, wrong! I looked at last weeks picture compared to this week and man baby girl is out there haha.
@EErin86 glad you went to yoga and impressed you were able to keep up! Hope you're feeling good today.
