Re: TTTC Check-In 5/31/18

  • Now I’ll go first  :p FET was yesterday and went smoothly. No cramping, but it took seemingly forever to get the Embryo over so I was just hanging out with my hoohah in the air. My beta is on June 9. The RE said it looked like a good Embryo, so I said I hope this one sticks. We’ll see!

QOTW We’re off to Iceland this weekend! Just 3 full days, but I’m excited. The rest of the summer we’ll be traveling to visit family.
  • @Bababatty Thanks for starting the thread.  Hoping so hard this is your lucky FET!!!  Iceland sounds like a great way to spend some of that TWW.

AFM: We don't have any more real travel plans for the summer after our vacation last week.  We were planning a trip to DC in August but have canceled due to potential cycle timing (plus I didn't really want to go anyway).  So we might do a few short trips here and there but nothing formal planned.

  • @Bababatty Fx for your FET! Have fun in Iceland. My fiance loved it when he went, particularly the penis museum.

@ChristenMA83 Can't beat just lounging around for vacation.

QOTW: Any summer vacation plans? We are getting married in 29 days at a farmhouse which we have rented for the week. So that will be our vacation. It is gorgeous though and I am excited to pretend it is mine for a whole week :)
  • @meri-mac congrats!!!  That sounds like such a sweet wedding experience.

  • @Bababatty - thanks so much for getting this started!

So glad you had the FET yesterday and keeping FX for you.

In all honestly, I'm pretty sure you are going to get pregnant this round, so part of me (very very selfishly) will be a little sad to lose your calming, sensible, and grounded presence on these boards. But then I think: "Whatever will be, will be."

So yeah, that's how certain I am that this is the one for you!!!! xoxoxox Have fun in Iceland!

And thank you soo much for the kind words last week. It meant a lot to me.

@ChristenMA83 - ugh, I hate cancelling things to potential cycle timing. Hoping you can do some short trips here and there, and I have to say - it sounds like you have been a real trooper these past few weeks, in spite of great personal pain and disappointment. Keeping FX for you, and hoping you have happy news soon.

@meri-mac - a wedding?! Exciting!! ps. you made me laugh with your comment about the penis museum. DH would love that too.

    @emmasemm - any updates?

@BWhitta - glad to hear all went well with your lap!

@oklahomak - welcome! I hope your stay here is short.

@mirabelle33 - you really touched me last week with your comment on bravery. Thank you so much.

ps. I didn't think your comment about being "forced to deal with it" sounded irresponsible AT ALL. The IF testing we have to do is wild. Early on, I tested positive for some crazy antibody that I'd never heard of, that no doctor seems concerned about and would only be a risk if my husband had a specific, rare blood type and our baby inherited it. So (of course) we had DH tested, and it was negative. I felt like a crazy person! You do all these things to prepare for "what ifs" and chase all these phantom threads. Now, when doctors tell me I should test for "x", I'm just like: "Fine, whatever. I'll get to it when I get to it."

QOTW: We spent this past year investing a bit more in DH's favorite hobby: boating. Hopefully we will boat it up all summer!

AFM: Feeling a little sad today. Some very, very small part of me had hoped I'd get KU-ed this cycle. I even had some unusual cramps last week, and I thought: "Maybe? Maybe?" But then today I had some tell-tale cramps today and I realized that this cycle is going to be another bust. I'm just waiting on CD1. Ugh. Go away, AF. Go away!
  • Good luck @Bababatty, sending lots of hope and warmth your way.
Welcome @elisek, hope your time here is short. When is your next blood test?
@meri-mac hope the wedding plans are going smoothly, wedding are so exciting!
@funkykey I'm so sorry this cycle isn't looking hopeful any more. I will keep some hope for you. Lots of hugs

Afm second bloods tomorrow but given how slow I am to respond I'm not expecting anything. I have spent this evening making a dinosaur cake for my niece's 3rd bday tomorrow, feeling a bit anxious about the party.
Qotw it's winter over here so hoping for a get away at some point. Was considering Japan for a few weeks but don't like the idea of planning thing too far out. Our typical holiday activities aren't generally preggy friendly
  • @funkykey thanks,  I feel a little cold at times because I am handling this well, but in general, I tend not to be all that emotional.  Sometimes I feel like I'm supposed to be acting differently than I am - but I really just want to focus on moving forward and the positive steps I can take to support our journey.

  • @mighty-mouse As smoothly as any wedding :P We are trying to keep it low key, but a wedding comes with stress no matter what. I had a panic attack this morning thinking I had put the wrong date on the invitations, but I didn't. Just the fun brain of a bride.

WTO, currently on cd 8. Trying to get better about charting but pretty sure my BBT is unreliable. This morning it said my temp was 94.7... probably not  Starting Estradiol for the first time on Sunday and not really sure what to expect. Any Estradiol vets out there? My OB/GYN didn't explain this one much.
QOTW: We're going on a Scotland/Iceland trip! We try to do an international trip each year, always saying it's, "One more big vacation before we have a baby." This is year 4... maybe that will be a true statement this time

@Bababatty Looks like your Iceland trip is before ours — if you have any tips when you get back, I'd love to hear them! Fingers crossed for a successful FET! So happy to hear it's looking good!!!

@meri-mac Congrats! I bet it will be beautiful. Side note, now DH is planning a visit to the penis museum lol

@funkykey Thanks for the welcome! I'm sorry to hear this cycle isn't looking hopeful :/ Sending you all the positive vibes.
  • @oklahomak & @funkykey I am glad the penis museum is getting such a warm reception :D
  • @oklahomak I've been on estradiol a lot over the past several months this and never notice much of an issue as far as side effects, but I'm sure experiences vary by person.

  • Wishing everyone a great weekend!

@Bababatty thanks for starting the thread this week! I'm so glad to hear everything went smoothly with your FET and I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed that this is the one for you. Enjoy Iceland!!

@ChristenMA83 short trips can be a great way to getaway and refresh your mind a bit. I hope you can fit in a few this summer! Also, I don't think there is any "right" way to handle this. Some people go to the negative side and others to the positive. Honestly, I think it's much healthier in the long run to try and stay positive.

@meri-mac your wedding location sounds idyllic :) How exciting to have that to focus on and I hope it turns out to be a beautiful day for you.

@funkykey you're welcome <3 Thanks for your comment as well. I just didn't want anybody lurking or reading this later on to think that they don't need to take it seriously if they are at high risk for breast cancer, especially when undergoing fertility treatments. I agree that the testing we do for IF is totally wild.

I'm sorry that you had some tell-tale signs yesterday. I get those too and they always put me in miserable funk for the rest of the day. The worst is after they go away for a bit and then you're back to thinking "maybe?" The end of the TWW is such a vicious roller coaster. In any case, I hope you're able to do something fun this weekend and that AF ends up staying away for good this time!!

@mighty-mouse I hope your blood test shows some progress and good luck with the birthday party. Don't be afraid to take a time-out if you need one. Japan is on my shortlist for a vacation someday!

@oklahomak I hope it will be a true statement for you this time! Enjoy Scotland and Iceland - I think it's the perfect time of year to travel there :)

AFM, no real update since I was late to the last thread. DH is having his "more involved" SA next week and he's been instructed to drink 1.5 liters of water the day before. Anyone else have this instruction? Do you know what it's for?

QOTW: Any summer vacation plans? Nope! We just had our vacation to the US in April and DH works in hotel management so summer is always his busiest time at work. Not to mention that French law requires everyone to take at least 2 weeks of vacation in the summer so he usually volunteers to stick around while everyone else is away and then we end up taking "his" vacation in September or October. I don't mind though since vacation places are so crowded here in July/August, especially with families, and I find it's much nicer to go in the off season. He just told me this morning that this year he will probably take the first two weeks in October and we're thinking of either Greece or Italy (somewhere where it's still warm), but won't make any definite plans until we get a diagnosis/treatment plan from the RE.

10 natural cycles = all BFN
Dx: weak ovulation with possible LPD; Rx: Clomid (4 rounds); Puregon + Ovidrel + TI (3 rounds)
7 medicated cycles (see above) = BFN
During the last medicated cycle, they found a small cyst on an ovary and ordered an MRI to check for endometriosis
May 2018 switched to an RE and did more testing while trying naturally
    8 natural cycles = BFN
Dx: AMA, endometriosis/endometrioma, DOR; Rx: IVF
    October 2018, IVF #1 = 4 ER, 2 M, 1 F

  • 1.  How long have you been TTC? Almost 19 years to have 5 losses
    2.  What is your diagnosis? Recurrent miscarriages. then found out a few things in 2016 but they aren't sure they caused our losses. But I have hashimoto's, a little bit of PCOS, low vitamin d and low iron, PA1 4g/5g
    3.  What is your current Rx plan? Waiting to ovulate. CD7 today.

QOTW: Any summer vacation plans? Vacation trips with hubby to the beach and smoky mountains probably. Not sure yet.

One of the hardest things about IF treatments, for me, has been the how the different drugs have thrown my cycle. Before ART, I had pretty regular cycles - every 29-31 days, with ovulation around day 12-14. Very predictable. But since being on all the drugs, my cycles even between treatments, have ranged from every 26 - 34 days.

So I'll get to day 31, and I think: "Maybe these PMS symptoms are a pregnancy!" and then day 32 & 33 I feel, finally, hopeful. Then BAM! No dice, sorry. Not pregnant again.

For me, that aspect of the treatments has been one of the hardest, mentally - just the wait between day 31-34.

I'm in that now, I keep thinking: "Maybe, maybe." Because I'm about 2 days late now. But the last time I went through this, and the time before, it was nothing. Just my body adjusting after all the different treatments. And I'm so traumatized from my last few HPTs, I don't want to ever see another again.

@funkykey I've been off treatments for 3 cycles now and the first one was a bit longer than expected, while the second one was significantly shorter. We'll see how this third one turns out, but I suspect it will be right in the middle. So I hear you on the frustration!

Are you doing anything to track ovulation? If you know your normal luteal phase length, that might help you know whether you're truly "late" or not and then maybe you can avoid some of the heartache and trauma. I will never temp again because it's too stressful for me and messes with my sleep, but I have been doing OPKs and charting CM. It gives me a pretty good idea of when AF is expected and I usually don't even get to the point of wanting to test. It did fool me with that slightly longer cycle, but I think it might have just been a "stronger" ovulation and thus my luteal phase was a more "normal" length (usually it's pretty consistent at 10 days). I knew exactly when the shorter one was coming because I was pretty sure I O'd around day 12 and sure enough AF showed up 10 days later! But I understand if you're wanting to stay away from all that and just go with the flow (no pun intended). Sending you a creepy internet hug <3

  • Hi @drewsdarlin, so sorry to hear about your journey so far. FX some of the test you have done can help get a good outcome.
