@Activebaby isn't it such a relief? I know I was so pleasantly surprised by my bosses reactions. Besides one friend and my SO, they are the only ones who know, and their support has meant so much to me.
Oh and I also want to note how amazing it is that all of you women are so active in these threads! I read through when I have 5 seconds to myself here and there, but actually finding a moment to respond is another deal entirely. Way to go mamas!
I heard everything happens faster in subsequent pregnancies, but I had NO IDEA how much the theme of this pregnancy would be that the third trimester stuff is happening at the end of the first trimester! Despite the fact not much change is showing on the scale yet, as of week 13 I am already: having pelvic and lower back pain, waking up at the crack of dawn for no reason, having to keep Tums by my bedside, peeing myself when I throw up, and oh yeah, I am very uncomfortable in my normal bras and any pants, even my maternity pants. So. Uh, it's gonna be a long 26 weeks and 5 days I guess!
@scaredunprepared Word. I was trying to be really active a couple (few??) weeks ago, but I fell off. I love my group of N16 mamas and I would love to meet another great group to go through this with.... but, time! to thoroughly respond and engage
I got the proposed bill from my OB yesterday. It is literally 4x the amount I paid with DD. Same Dr two years later. We had to change insurance this year, I already knew it sucked because of the high deductible but DAMN.
@katy0990 I am pre-paying. It's split up over 5 months so it's all paid for my the time I deliver. Which was the same as before just A LOT more money a month.
@Jens_Hoes 1) I would do anything for a donut but I gave up sugar at 10 weeks because I am in fear of GD again. Prior to 10 weeks I was too sick to attemp better eating habits. 2) this board has been much slower lately. Do we have more STM than FTM? On my first board the FTM seemed to post a lot more, more gif parties, extra snark etc. I feel like this board has lots of busy people!! I always look forward to the my ticker change day and there are only a handful of people who post on our day.
So, I’m supposed to be taking this antibiotic and I started it today. I have to take it FOUR freaking times a day and the directions say to take it one hour before eating or two hours after eating. Uhh. How are these people gonna assume I only eat every three hours at the most. .
Re: the slow board, I check in often on my phone but haven't been posting updates a whole lot because my life is freaking boring and I don't think anyone cares about my kid's slow progress toward walking or the fact that he may possibly hopefully be figuring out how to lengthen his one nap. Also I hate writing updates on my phone because autocorrect is so freaking weird and tries to correct my words before I'm even finished writing them.
Maybe I'll just have to make up some good drama.
Okay, here's a topic! Anyone watch Kimmy Schmidt? I just started the newest season and for some reason the humor is grating on me now. Also there are only six episodes, and the third is a separate documentary about the Reverend. It's odd! The last six come out in January and they'll end the show. Which I'm ready for. Crazy to think I may be watching them while nursing a wee babe MOTN!

Are there other threads we could start that could increase participation here? I feel like only a few people post (and not that I don't like those people, but theres only so much to talk about with 10 people lol)
I was kind of thinking a MM-type post might be interesting, but that's probably only relevant monthly.
Or just anything not-baby related. I know that's why we're all here, but we've all got a lot more going on in our lives than just the pregnancy, and it would be nice to get to know people beyond that. Having said that, however, I'm coming up short on ideas there.
Yes! Let's do a GTKY. And a book club thread, which was talked about but never actually started. Also since I'm pointing out threads I want to see but am too lazy to start myself, we missed this week's STM thread (I can never think of good prompts, guys.)

I actually decided to read their UO last night/this morning because there were so many comments and I was curious. Lots of opinions! Usually, if I’m bored, I click on random boards to see if there are any drive by AW posts where I can read other peoples snark. Lol- I’m not that snarky myself, so that’s how I get my drama fix.
I think as we get further along there will be more to talk about, and as we get to know each other better. I was a late comer to my previous BMB, so I can't say if they're usually slow like this or not honestly. Another GTKY would probably be a great idea! But in general, I see people post, but not respond to other people (I myself do this sometimes too if I'm in a hurry). And I don't think we need to tag and respond to every single person who's posted, but just tagging a person or two in your own post and responding to something they said starts a conversation. I especially notice this in the Wed ticker change, I feel like we all post our updates but don't really engage in a conversation about anything (and again, I am also guilty of this). But things like the craft thread, a book thread, GTKYs, those are where I think the conversation gets going because it's a continuous thread. I think conversation can sometimes get lost when we have a new random thread every week and weekend.
@CecilB93 That's a really good point. I feel like I've been in a rush lately since I've started my new job, but engaging in conversations within posts is just as important as making new posts, I think.
Also, I've been thinking about posting something re: sleeping arrangements after our LO's arrive, if anyone's interested? I would especially love to hear from anyone else who is planning to do room sharing with a toddler and a newborn and/or room sharing between parents and a newborn. With our first, we just had her in her own room, but since we have a two bedroom apartment and aren't moving any time soon, I am curious to hear from other people in similar situations. We are thinking probably we'll get a mini crib and have this LO in our room for 6 months or so, until he sleeps through the night, so he doesn't disrupt DD's sleep, and then move him into her room for them to share. Anyway, would anyone be interested in a Where Will LO Sleep type thread? Then everyone can participate, whether they're room sharing or not, and we can ask any questions related to that in the thread. Thoughts?
And @PensiveCrayon I feel exactly the same re: my life is boring and I don’t know what to say. I literally just watch my kid all day and that’s about it. There’s only so much people can take of my kid won’t stop climbing on everything. Lol
@rosebud332 that would be pretty much impossible for me too right now. I probably eat every 2 hours because I can't each much at once or my stomach feels crappy.
I mentioned this on the Friday ticker thread but I just want to say that having napping pods at work is great! I have used them almost every day this week. I can't actually sleep in them because they are near a high traffic bathroom with a very loud door but just laying down and closing my eyes for 20 min makes me feel so much better.
@kadeephd I'll be honest, I don't check in on every thread. I'll probably skip the what are you reading thread, just because I really don't read too much. And I've not really been checking the what I'm eating, maternity clothes, symptoms threads etc unless I have a reason to. And maybe I'm part of the problem by not checking those threads lol, but I don't need to read things if I can't contribute anyways is how I see it. So definitely pick and choose which threads are most important to you to check, and if you have extra time you can peek in on other threads!
Holy cow @abowls! Napping pods sound like you're living the (work) dream! I take a nap literally every day, and have since college. It was always a struggle for me to make it through the work day back when I was working in a traditional office, and I would end up sleeping in my car, in the break room, or even outside on the benches at the outdoor mall.
@maureenmce I'd participate in a sleep thread. Or maybe I'll just write my conundrum/plan here, ha. Babe will sleep in the bassinet until he/she outgrows it, and then I think we're going to move the crib into the master bedroom walk-in closet until the baby is consistently sleeping through the night. Not sure. Moving the crib means that we have to figure out an alternate sleeping situation for our firstborn. I'm thinking I'll buy the Ikea toddler bunk bed and have him sleep on the floor of it (it's a reversible bed, and when it's in bunk configuration the bottom mattress just rests on the floor). It might be a shitshow -- he'll be just under two years old when the new one arrives. We shall see. But I've also read encouraging stuff online that siblings aren't bothered as much as you would think by newborns crying.

@maureenmce@PensiveCrayon yes! I work in science. Up until October I had always worked in government contracts but I switched to industry in October. It's a whole new world. Almost every day I can't believe the perks here. Better pay, huge bonuses, great healthcare (it paid for most of my IVF), ample parking, free happy hour every week, napping pods, on-site daycare, and they're always giving us free food and gifts. It's crazy and I still can't get used to it. At my old job if we wanted to have a party it had to be pot luck and we were supposed to deduct time spent at the party from our workday. Here the throw huge parties for holidays and every time we have a drug release with gifts, games, parties, and alcohol.
@CecilB93 - I agree about responding to others helping things. As far as sleeping arrangements, we'll be playing it by ear I think. Our options are: 1. Keep baby in our room as long as possible. 2. Move baby in with DD (who will be about 7 by that point), because she sleeps like a log 3. Move baby in with DS (who will be 4), because he barely sleeps anyway 4. Move DD and DS in together, and put baby in the vacant room
Honestly at this point, I'm kind of thinking we'll let #1 ride as long as possible, because none of the other options sound all that great
@PensiveCrayon Yeah, we also still haven't decided whether we're keeping DD in a crib or transitioning her to a toddler bed first. Ugh, so many things to consider!
Does a strong enough bassinet/cradle type thing exist to keep babies in until 6mo? Everything I’m seeing on amazon looks like it’s made for only the first 3 months or so.

ETA: and IME, that works for at least 1 year +, though it might not be the most ideal for that long term.
