I was told there was an abnormality in my baby girl's heart on the 20 week sonogram. My doctor said he thought it was probably nothing, but that we needed to go to a specialist to do a more detailed sonogram. Has anyone had this happen? Did it turn out to be nothing or an abnormality?
Yes, it could be nothing, but it also could be something. You won't know until you get the next ultrasound. I would just try to stay calm and not think about it too much until you have to. What happens with other people has no bearing on what will happen to you. Unfortunately, the person I know who had this with their baby, it was something, but again, this does not mean it will or won't be something for you.
What PP said. Unfortunately it’s a wait and see game. The good news is that if it is an abnormality, it was caught early and you can make a plan for when your LO is born. My DS was born with a heart defect that required multiple interventions and surgery at 6 months old. 1 in 100 babies in the US is born with heart disease. It’s unfortunately fairly common.
