Yeah, I do too, @nackie. I actually have a soft alarm that goes normally at 545 to take my pill. That way by the time I go down around 615 or 630 for my coffee, I should be okay to eat something around 645-730. I think food is just supposed to be 1 hour, but vitamins rhey told me to wait 4 hours, so nowI take those at lunch.
@Lcardinal04 I hope they get all the measurements they need today! I had to go back for round two also and my first tech kept commenting that he wasn't cooperating at all and she couldn't get everything she needed. I was like...well, he's normally sleeping at this time and you're interrupting his sleep!

Had to get another anatomy scan on Wednesday due to moving and switching doctors. Everything went great! My cervix, which had been getting really close to being "too short", relengthened and now I'm back in the clear. I got my results back from the glucose tolerance test and I passed! He's kicking so hard now I'm twitching sometimes lol. He's really big though! His head is measuring in the 94th percentile. Measuring about two weeks ahead! We are 25+4 today
@nackie I think it depends on which test you're doing. If I had to guess your probably just doing the one hour test. My friend did that and passed just fine and she didn't have to fast either. I had to do the 2 hour one (which I'd recommend not driving after) but I had to fast for that one. It was hard, I got dizzy, neasous, and was feeling faint at the end but I passed it just fine.
@nackie@businesswife Now that I always have to wake up at 4 am to pee (eye rolllll) I have been taking my levoxyl then so I can eat right away when I get up.
@DanyTargaryen I definitely made a comment to the nurse this week about how I am now officially peeing in a cup blindly.
26w today! I had an appt. with my OB on Monday and she wanted me to take my glucose test but since I had no warning I said I would come back (I had a lot of carbs for lunch). She said weight gain is fine, although I know I gained the most in the 3rd tri last time. She started telling me that with all my issues from delivery last time some OBs would recommend a c-section and I started freaking out but then she said as long as my measurements continue to look ok, she’s recommends a vaginal delivery. She was worried about me being too traumatized from DD’s birth and I laughed and said that was everyone else in the room, I was the only one not scarred from the experience. She did say they would be quicker to move to a c-section this time if labor doesn’t progress so I am going to be doing everything in my power to get baby boy to descend. (BTW there is nothing wrong with c-sections, my sister had one and had a way better recovery than me...)
Anyway, I went back Thursday for my glucose test and I passed with flying colors! I did have a little cheese beforehand and water but that was it. I was shocked how low it was actually. Also my CBC came back showing me as anemic but I just gotta up the iron like last time. No biggie there. I’m meeting with our meat market clients today, I should have had them bring me some steaks!
Passed the glucose screen and found out baby (via growth scan) and I (via fundal height) are both measuring one week ahead! not what I expected as I’m getting growth scans due to complications of Crohn’s disease which increase risk for low birth weight babies.
Baby girl cooperated at AS round two! I drank OJ before hand hoping that if she curled up in a ball again, then hopefully at the very least she’d be awake and moving around more. That seemed to do the trick!
The tech was able to get all the measurements and saw no issues.
I didn't get length/ weight measurements for baby during our scan but every scan I've been measuring a few days ahead, and at our last apt, the mw claimed my fundal measurement was 27 (at 24 weeks) and started talking about a c section if baby gets, "too big." YGTBFKM. Basically trying to scare me into saying I am on track to over-eat myself right into the OR for delivery. I just cant.
Also, we had this apt without any actual reports from the echo having been sent over. So.... she basically just took my word for it when I said that the MFM told me everything looked great. Uhmmmm... So much for getting anyone's professional opinion on anything. :/
I had my follow up appointment today to check on the arrhythmia and the nurse couldn’t hear it! Yay! It doesn’t mean we’re in the clear, but it’s great news. I go back again for another check next week (26 weeks)... if they hear anything then they’ll send me for another ultrasound a week later(27 weeks).
I’m also doing my glucose test next week. Im not expected to pass since I had GD with my daughter only 2 years ago, so we shall see.
I finally went to my Primary care doctor about my sinus issues today because last night I reached my breaking point. I got a horrible sinus headache, took some Tylenol, went to sleep, woke up choking (I guess because of post nasal drip), immediately threw up, and then stayed nauseous and congested all night and all day today. The doctor just told me it’s only pregnancy and allergies and a viral sinus infection. Nothing to be done. Oh, and I’m taking too much allergy medicine. Ugg. I believe her, but I was hoping for a quick fix!
@BusinessWife I wasn’t aware that fundal measurements were related to weight gain. I’m also unconvinced that excessive weight gain leads to dangerously large babies. That mw sounds awful:(
That was her. @nackie. There are four of them. I've seen this one three times, two of the others once, and will be meeting the fourth, newest to the practice at my 28 week apt. Idk. I guess I could just ask to be seen by the doctor, but I'll give this other one a chance... the thing is too, whoever is on call when you deliver is who you will have at that point. So I'm kind of hoping when we are in the throes of it, it won't much matter??? Idk. It's really bumming me out tho.
@BusinessWife I know some weight gain is correlated with how big baby will be but I thought it was mostly genetics? I’m exactly average for how much one should gain by week 17 and our little guy is measuring 1.5 weeks ahead. Not surprised since the smallest newborn in my family was over 8.5lbs! It’s BS for her to try and scare you about that as if you have full control over how big baby gets!
@BusinessWife I admit I’m befuddled. How is Fundal height related to weight gain and how are either of those related to how big the baby is? I’ve heard of things like Gestational Diabetes being related to larger babies but not weight gain. And never heard of fundal height being related to weight gain.
With my first I measured ahead most check ups, and at over a week late she was still 8 lbs 9 oz. — not small but certainly not overly large.
I am so sorry they are treating you this way. It’s sounds absolutely ridiculous honestly!! Some women just gain more during pregnancy no matter what their diet is. Plus side being that women I know who gained quite a bit all lost it really fast. It was just how their bodies handled pregnancy.
@Lcardinal04 yeah, from what I gather, she was basically saying that if the mother is overfed the baby may become excessively large, somehow growing past their normal genetic capacity and becoming too large to safely delivery vaginally. ???
FTR I am basically up 25 lbs. So yes, maybe more than you would want if you're growing in a straight line, and I really have no idea how much it really is, since where did the ivf weight stop and the "true pregnancy" weight begin. FIIK. The last one I saw even said that, and out the weight when I was supposedly up 20 at 20 weeks, she srugged and said well, it's based on a self-reported starting weight. The first weight we have you at is five pound more, so maybe you've really only gained 15? So if I've gained 20 at 24 weeks, maybe that's not quite to alarming but I mean really.
As for fundal height, who knows if she even measured properly!?!? I did read something about higher fundal measurements possibly corresponding with GD. But I would think that would have to be because the high sugars due to the GD is making the baby grow bigger. Not because fatty-mcfatty here overfed her baby in utero and gave herself GD. I cannot with that blaming mothers for getting GD crap. Such utter balogna. So I am so paranoid now, I have already done two informal GD tests at home (at about 21 / 22 weeks, and again at 24), and "passed" them both. And I told her this too, and she just didn't even know what to say. Ughh.
@BusinessWife So, fundal heights. I've been measuring about 10 days small the whole time, by 16 weeks I had gained roughly 16 lbs (!?!), and according to ultrasound at 21 weeks baby's head was measuring big.... So, I would say in my case fundal height, weight gain, and baby's size have very little to do with much.
Also, for babies I have gained roughly the same amount of weight each time, same father and mother, all Clomid and all girls. However, my first was a week late and 8, 6, my second a week early and 8,13, and my 3rd was right on time and 8,5. Each is their own individual person!!!

...aaaaand we're down 3 lbs. this morning! LOL yeah, I am starting to get the feeling like all of these various measurements are just so arbitrary and grossly variable that I don't even know why they bother!
...aaaaand we're down 3 lbs. this morning! LOL yeah, I am starting to get the feeling like all of these various measurements are just so arbitrary and grossly variable that I don't even know why they bother!
There’s so much fluctuation! I have been logging weights (naked, first thing in the AM) 3-5x per week but I largely ignore those individual data points and chart only my average for the week. I also largely ignore the number at the doctor’s office since it’s so dependent on time of day, what I’m wearing and what I’ve eaten. It helps me stay sane when there’s a big overnight change.
I measured ahead last pregnancy and delivered a huge baby early... no GD. I’m measuring exactly on track this time and no GD. I’m likely to have another large baby. It’s genetics. I gained 40 lb last time. My sister gained close to that and had a super tiny baby. It’s so random. Sorry they are giving you such a hard time @BusinessWife. My OB had a baby in between mine and she is definitely a lot more understanding this pregnancy having just been through it herself.
@BusinessWife After reading your post I weighed myself too... down 5. No swelling this morning which I suspect I get in the evenings cause i'm on my feet a lot all day.. my appt was also at the end of day too come to think of it. So many factors! Ah well. I feel a little better. With respect to fundal height I know lots of ladies that measured small and gained 50 ish lbs or more so I would say everybody's body is different plain and simple. I gained nearly nothing up until 4.5-5 months when I put on some fairly quickly. I'm gonna try not to think about it and have a good weekend

@dexnie now I do the same as you. A couple days a week I weigh naked first thing in the morning. I have found that at the dr it is dependent on what I wear, what time of day I go and what/when I ate last.
@BusinessWife don’t stress yourself over the weight too much. I know, easier said than done when you keep hearing about it from the MWs, but worrying about it won’t do anything but cause you stress which is bad for you and baby.
I gained 80/90 pounds last time (stupid pre-eclampsia), no GD, was induced 2 weeks early and had a 7+pound baby. My cousin gained 90+ pounds with no GD or pre-e, went a full week late and a 6ish pound baby. It took me approx a year to lose the baby weight and it took her like 3-6 months. Insert big old shrug here.
@BusinessWife Just for support, I'm 25+1, have gained 27 lbs. In a pretty petite person. I gained less with my son, but...this pregnancy has been different in general. I'm probably going to be in the 40 lbs range this time. The 27 lbs is my at home weight, always taken first thing in morning, underwear only. I know it's accurate. My midwife aand doctor are both OK with it-it just is my body right now.
I'm sorry your midwives are fat-shaming com just being wenches. I think you look great, and screw them!

Not really an apt, so I know it doesn't exactly count, but I did another GD screening at home today, (with a big bowl of blueberry, maple, walnut oatmeal), and I passed! One hour later, my sugar was down to 102. ;) phew!
@stothi Yeah there's a blood lab in my town that's open late and on weekends. It's very convenient!
