Questions - Week of 5/6

Re: Questions - Week of 5/6

  • Anyone have double health coverage?

My H has open enrollment in either dec or January and I was thinking about having him add me to his health insurance as well until LO is born to help with OOP.

Is anyone else doing this or done this previously? How did it work out for you?

We do this currently with our dental and it's amazing.

  • @galactickates i have double health ins coverage,  I never pay OOP for anything, it's great.  That being said, if I had to pay premiums for two insurances I would make sure it's really worth it, I only have to pay a premium for one of mine.
  • Is it normal to have light cramping? This is baby #1 so this whole thing is very new and I'm trying to remain relaxed.

  • @ers7924 - I would have him add me in dec/Jan so at the very most the premiums would be 2 months which would be cheaper then oop with my own plan.  I'm seriously considering it
  • @bdream0916 Incredibly normal! It's a common symptom of early pregnancy!

@bdream0916 with both this pregnancy and with my son, I had cramping everyday for a good week early on. Totally normal!

  • Anyone else feel like their anxiety is increased? I have had 4 pregnancies, 2 were births and 2 were miscarriages so I know that is part of it. However, I also just feel super anxious lately without a real reason to be. I thinks its the hormones.

  • @Jackiemxoxo I struggle with this too. I think that PGAL brain never fully goes away. The unknown (and the wait)is really tough to sit with. But I think you are right: hormones play a huge role too. I’m just trying to keep myself busy and distracted.

  • @galactickates I never knew you could be double covered. That is cool. DH and I have the same open enrollment period so I don't think it would help us. Also, I am surely going to have this baby right as my deductible rolls over, lol. Very grateful for our HSA and DH's high deductible plan where the deductible is lower than our max HSA contribution.

I had double coverage during my pregnancy with my lo. It was amazing. It made sense for us because my old job covered our premium and we had to keep DHs because we knew I’d be leaving my job after he was born.

i never paid a dime out of pocket for copays or anything. I sometimes felt almost guilty, like here i was with two insurances and some people didn’t have any.

@Jackiemxoxo Yes! I've always had anxiety issues but I've definitely noticed an uptick in the past few weeks. Luckily my doctors have all agreed it's totally safe for me to stay on my anxiety medication or I honestly don't know what I'd do!
  • @kaf1788 +1 to staying on my anxiety meds! It made me nervous at first, but I know it’s 100% what’s best for me and the baby in the end!

  • Anyone else having difficulty brushing teeth/tongue? (Ie gagging?) This has been two nights in a row for me but I can still get through my normal routine.
  • @ers7924 I’ve only had that problem a couple of times so far with this pregnancy, but with DD I had it for literally my entire pregnancy. Even once general nausea and morning sickness went away I still couldn’t brush without gagging!

  • Tips on keeping this a secret with Mother's Day tomorrow? We are going out for brunch, and I KNOW there will be questions when I don't order a Mimosa. Do I try and get the waiter aside and tell him to put seltzer in it for a faux-mosa? I don't know how to not be obvious.

  • @MrsHudson2014 I’ve had great success pulling the server aside - you or your partner could do it. Mimosas have to be one of the easiest drinks to “fake” as well.
  • @zamora_spin I'm going to try that. Since we are all riding together, I will probably have to "go to the bathroom" and talk to a hostess on my way back to the table. My H will unfortunately not be there to assist.

@mrshudson618 yes, definitely pull the server aside. Get up to use the bathroom and do it then. DH and I talked about how we are going to tackle Memorial Day weekend and the family BBQs. We're going to do Margaritas sans tequila for me while we are staying with my parents. I will be the DD for the out-of-town festivities.

  • man, every time I get knocked up and I read these types of stories about how do I hide it with drinks it makes me more and more thankful it's not even a question with my friends and families because we don't drink. I don't envy you ladies. Good luck.

  • @sparkymcgeee agree!  Drinking culture is so bizarre. We went to dinner with my in laws last week and I didn’t order drinks so my FIL asked my wife if I was pregnant. I’m not even much of a drinker to begin with so it’s strange. Two weeks before, we were out with her grandparents and her grandma asked if I was “on the wagon” when I didn’t drink. It’s nuts!  I was just telling people I am keeping my body clean of alcohol while we are TTGP.

My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

    IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
    IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019

  • Anyone else not have their first appointment until 10 weeks? I kind of slacked on calling and that’s the first they had. It seems so late! But they swore it was normal. I do have a phone appointment next week. Ugh, I don’t want to wait that long!

  • @Blonde1817
Yes! Almost. I’ll be 9w5d at my first appointment. They won’t see me before 8wks and I will be out of town for week 8 and most of week 9. They were not concerned that this would be too late. Though I cannot stop counting the days — torture!

@Blonde1817 @green_olive me too!!  I just keep telling myself that means I’ll have an even better picture and heartbeat to look at (hopefully!). I just called in with a question I had earlier and they were good at calling back so hopefully I can keep any of my concerns at bay that way!
