Re: Monday BF 5/7

  • People at work are working on my last nerve this morning. I do the payroll for a school system and the bus drivers are coming into the office every 10 minutes asking to speak to my boss to clarify their pay, which has been the same since the beginning of time!!! They think they are the only working group and we should bend over backwards for them, even though they clearly don't understand how things work.

  • Final grades are due on Friday, I told my students I'm not taking papers after WEDNESDAY (due to state testing on Thursday) and they have been told by everyone that they can't go on the field trip next week if they have missing assignments. 59 out of my 85 students have at least 2 zeros and I really don't want to spend my entire Wednesday evening grading papers because they are too lazy to turn things in on time. I'm also annoyed because they are already asking for extra copies of papers from 4 weeks ago when I've had a make up assignment out in my room for the last 2 weeks.

  • I just logged on to track my Panorama test and the results are back- insufficient fetal DNA. Stupid test!!! We’ve been so excited to get these results back and now this. I googled a bit and have found that this is common with overweight mothers, so I’m not sure if I even want to attempt it again. But then again, there’s this statement on the results page that says “no results may be associated with an increased risk for chromosomal abnormality” so I basically have to do it for peace of mind. Ugh, stupid Panorama!!!!

@copperboom86 ugh that's so frustrating, I'm sorry that happened to you. I've heard of that happening too, my OBGYN mentioned that Maternit21 has slightly fewer incidents than the other NIPT tests. How long did it take for you to receive the insufficient fetal DNA result back?
  • I just want a salad with romaine but I am not going to take the risk!

  • @tessiesmom26 you got me thinking about a chicken Caesar salad from Wawa. A trip to Wawa now is a 15 minute drive instead of 5 minutes, and I probably shouldn't risk it either. But dangit that's gonna stick around for a while now.

  • @CopperBoom86 So sorry! That really sucks. I'm an impatient person, so it would drive me insane.

I have another... my newest morning sickness meds just aren't working today. Worked great all weekend, but stopped today -_-

  • Hubs put a trashbag into the container without a lid and something got into last night spreading yuck, everywhere.  Hubs then saw it this morning but decided he didn't have time to clean it up.
  • @CopperBoom86 that happened to me as well its soo frustrating.  They redrew at 11w1d and they were able to get results the second time around.  I didn't know it was associated with overweight moms, but I did see that it happens alot with Panorama.
  • Last 3 days I've been feeling better, still fatigue easily and occasionally nauseated but I've been able to function and not throw up. Well, we had friends over this weekend who ended up having a stomach bug. Before I knew it poor DSS was projectile vomiting and I followed shortly. Was up all night dry heaving and vomiting every hour on the dot. UGH I hate stomach bugs.

@jkmartin723 oh no, I am so sorry to hear that. :( I hate stomach bugs too.  I hope you and your DSS feel better soon!!

I think I am feeling progressively worse.  This is my first time being pregnant, so I have nothing to compare it to or know what to expect.  My nausea can now be lessened as long as I eat often enough--but I feel like I am eating all the time, and I still have an aversion to vegetables, sigh.  I can only do tiny activities before feeling really fatigued, and now I am also starting to have aches and pains in my back and knees (I was overweight to begin with, but now I feel like my knees have just admitted defeat).

Additionally, a doctor (not my OB) I went to see for a chronic cough says it's allergies, and recommends that I take Claritin.  Hubby has been asking me to take it as well, since I cough a lot, especially in the evenings.  However, I am just scared to take anything at this point so I haven't started taking it yet. Ugh.

Anyone is a similar boat on either topic?
Nov. '18 September Siggy Challenge: Falling into Fall

  • @ginny_203 It took 10 days (6 business days) to get the results back, which, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that long, but I don't want to wait that long again to know the gender. I might talk to my H and see if he'd be down for redoing the Panorama (to ease our mind about chromosomal defects) AND do a gender scan this week so we can know the gender asap. He probably won't go for both, but it's worth a shot, I guess!

@troystory17 See, I was 12w3d when they drew my blood. That's why I'm a little worried about the results. I feel like I was plenty far along for there to be enough fetal DNA in my blood to test. :/

  • Stubbed my pinky toe HARD at my parents house yesterday. Don't think I broke it but it still hurts. And I ran out of my morning sickness meds today. Still have Zofran, which wasn't effective after a while, but maybe with it being on the tail end it will take the edge off. I'm also dealing with daily headaches and am patiently waiting for my energy to return. Blah, this pregnancy has been a pain and nothing like my first one.

  • I am a manager at my job and all my part timers just quit with less than two week notice. I can’t really blame them because we have no full time openings and they all got full time offers but damn. Literally all at once. Now I will be pulling 60-70 hour weeks when I feel like complete death. Yayyyy!!!!  :|
    nws
  • @CopperBoom86 - ugh I'm sorry. I'd be frustrated for sure. I know you were 12 weeks when they drew it the first time, but hopefully there is even more fetal DNA in your system and you'll be able to get a result if you do it again.

@jkmartin723 - oh no, I'm so sorry. Vomiting is the worst. I hope you and DSS feel better soon!

Those of you that are teachers are amazing. Thank you for everything you do. I can only imagine how under appreciated ya'll feel sometimes.

My b*tch is that poor DS has an ear infection. He spiked a fever while I was working Friday night and had it until 1230am when I gave him tylenol and then he woke up fever free so I thought maybe we were in the clear. Fever came back a few hours later so we went to the doc. DS gets ear infections frequently after colds (which he's mostly been over for a few days at least). Dr said one of them is pretty bad and his ear drum has a good chance of rupturing. DS must have a high pain tolerance because when I asked him if his ears hurt he said no. I know there's nothing else I could do with yesterday being Sunday, but it just makes me feel so guilty. And now I have to get him to take 10 days of nasty amoxicillin.

  • I am sick again. I went to my PCP and they think I have bronchitis. The doctor prescribed Cefdinir. I've had a fever that's been spiking to 101, so I have to trust that taking the antibiotic will benefit more than the risks. I hadn't been sick in 3 years and now I've been sick enough to miss work twice in 3 weeks.
  • @mockingjay1 I can so relate. We’ve had 5 in the last 6 months. I just made an appt with an ENT for him because I’m over the antibiotic game. He has been on 4 different ones and I can’t handle continuing to drug him. Hope your son gets to feeling better soon.

  • @mockingjay1 poor baby! Does he not like the pink drink? DD loves it. Can you hide it in something yummy? Are they talking tubes or not yet?

@ashkee05 can you get some new hires in?

@bqtmom25 I hope he cleaned it up later!

  • @wannaflickone - oh no, poor DS! I assume they will recommend tubes which I'm sure will help a lot.

@lifesabeach85 - he definitely does not like the pink drink. We put it in yogurt which he eventually got down. 10 days of this is going to be hard. I need to go back and see how many ear infections he's had. The problem is we've seen our old ped, our new ped, and the general clinic that's 3 minutes away (vs 30 for his ped) that does walk-ins. I'll have to call the pharmacy to figure that out.

  • @jkmartin723 I got the stomach flu with DS at like 4 months pregnant. I hate vomitting. I hope it was short lived for you both and you were able to stay hydrated!

@middleschoolmommy Oh My Gosh! I LOATHE missing work. It is the devil. I am sorry you are dealing with so many students missing work. I don't grade anything in resource. (More testing and IEP paperwork is my struggle) I taught 4th grade last year and finally told my students they had to copy from my teacher copy onto blank paper. I was not making copies of missing work. I was always so behind in grading missing work because it was so effing time consuming. I feel your pain and am sorry.

@susan112118 I had to take antibiotics when pregnant with DS. I had an asymptomatic bladder infection at like 36W. I was so scared of taking them I broke down and cried at the appointment. Taking them does outway that later though. DS is perfectly fine and does not have any reprocussions, if that helps.

@mockingjay1 My DS loved amoxocillon. He had to take prednislone though for some asthmatic issues and that crap is AWFUL. I tasted it. The doctors office mixed it with a "snowcone" sugar flavoring and he took it just fine. I tried to replicate it by making sugar water at home. It went okay. Maybe try mixing it with a "snowcone" flavor?

My BF is we were driving over the mountains on Friday night, late, to make it to a town about 4-5 hours from us. (Colorado I70) We were going to watch my little sister run a 1/2 marathon on Saturday morning. We couldn't leave until 7 or 8 because my DH worked. We got stuck just before Vail Pass summit because the highway was closed from a rockslide. It was 10pm by this time. We waited about an hour before they started turning people around. (The detour would add 2 hours to our drive.) We turned around into a rest stop to figure out if it was worth the detour or just go home. We were there 5-10 minutes when we decided to try the detour. We go to get back on the highway in the opposite direction we were originally going when we noticed the highway was open now. Luckily we were able to get back on and only lost like 1-1.5 hours instead of 3 but the darn highway patrol could have waited 5 more minutes and we could have just kept going. We were near the front of the waiting. We didn't arrive until 2:30am and were up at 5:45am to go watch my sister. Blah!! She did well and got a PR though so that was cool.

@serabjorn I'm having massive allergy issues as well and just started Zrytec. Allergy medications like Zrytec and Clairitin are perfectly safe during pregnancy. I would say try it and see if you can get some relief. It does take about a week to build up enough in your system to start working,  so don't quit it if it's not instant relief

  • @lifesabeach85 I am really hoping so but hr is terrible at my job and we’ve been trying to hire like crazy with nothing!! They are starting to offer open interviews so I really hope that will help

  • @mockingjay1 I hope your son is feeling better and the antibiotics are doing their thing. My DS had chronic ear infections and tubes definitely solved the problem. The constant fluid build up was also effecting his hearing which in turn effecting his speech

@blue2mango thanks! I'm dreading all the calls and noted from parents next week when their child complains that I won't take their work. I'll probably have to explain that grades were due on 5/11 over 50 times! Hope you were able to get some rest after your long trip!!

  • @jkmartin723 Oh no I'm sorry! How is everyone feeling today?

@mockingjay1 Getting kids to take antibiotics is the worst. DD will usually cooperate the first couple of days and then I have to force her the rest of the time. If you find any good tricks pass them on! I hope he feels better soon.

@ashkee05 That sounds like an actual nightmare, I am so sorry. I hope those open interviews do the trick and you get some support quickly.

I shockingly don't have a BF this week. I think I'm just too tired and crappy feeling to care about much lol

  • I have a Tuesday BF.. my MS is back and I'm sad about it.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and today I went to use one of the sandwich rolls for hubbys lunch and it had white fuzzy mold all over it. A pack with a use by date of May 25. Now I have to waste time and my already nonexistent energy to drive back out to the store to exchange them. Wtf.

  • @pink_polkadots that's the worst. Our local grocery does curb side pick up and i once got a package of apple bites that were already expired and obviously rotten. I was too lazy to bring them back though.
  • @MouseMama817 Everyone is better, thank goodness. I'm definitely taking the longest to recover, gain my small amount of energy back and everything makes me nauseated again but no more vomiting well except the occasional MS. Thanks so much for asking. I dont think all 3 of us have ever been sick before. that was a hard 24 hours ha.
  • @jkmartin723 We had the stomach flu in succession about 6 months ago. DS had it, one day later I had it and one day later DH got it. My mom came to help and a day after that she had it. I felt so bad for her because I asked her to come help. I didn't know what to do DS felt better and DH & I could barely move.
