Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing and Treatment - week of 05/07

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: If your DH (or other form of long term life partner) was an animal, what would he be and why?

@nitnat007 GL tomorrow, I hope this can get you some answers.
@darkstar42 so I'm under the impression that since my baseline was more around CD8, that my office is just considering that CD2 in their records. So it shouldn't mess anything up, just pushed back a week since technically I wasn't baseline when I should have been.  If I were doing this on my own, I would have been confused AF when I ovulated a week after I normally do!
So who are you doing your IUIs with?  Next time you're there, can you schedule an appt with the doctor during like your baseline for your next IUI if you need to go in for it?  That way you can just talk it through while you are already there for an appt? Or do they have an IVF coordinator that you can call and just talk things through with and see if they can send you basic information? My dr's office has a coordinator that went through everything with us and now she's the one that calls me with any results or requests for an appt.
  • @KristoKekerooni I'm sorry you didn't get answers and glad that nothing is wrong. What are you doing to manage your anxiety? Also, I love that we both said dog, but gave such different reasons.

@Avrilmai I already used glass containers. The first change from the book I made was switching cosmetics, soaps, lotions, cleaners, etc. Months later, it is still a work in progress!  The easiest thing was adding in ubiqunol and changing prenatals.

@beachbunnyxo123 Yay!!!!  What a great report. Do you have any guesses on what was different?  Either way, what a great response!!

@KristoKekerooni Are you staying with the same clinic?  Here’s to hoping your uterus cooperates with timelines, this time.

@rallykat14 Yay!! Progress!!!!  Of course still waiting and waiting and more fucking waiting...but progress!!
@emmasemm Ugh why is it always some sort of headache?!  I hope you can get the medication stuff figured out quickly!
Hope everything comes back normal for your hubs and no infection! Yikes! Hopefully he's one less thing to worry about ;)
@purplg8r when's your next appt?  Good luck!! I hope one or two have some progress by then!

Guys, I have a question. I've been going back and forth between Walgreens & my doc. I'm about to call my doc (well, the IVF coordinator) back again but I wanted to see if this made sense to any of you.
Dr prescribed me prometrium for this cycle.  But apparently they're tablets...but he wants me to use them vaginally.  So an oral pill, but vaginally.  Has anyone done this?!  I googled and it seems some women actually have, but I want to see if any of you have.
I've gone to Walgreens twice...seen two different pharmacists and they've both pushed back saying it's not how it should be used, it'll irritate me, it won't dissolve properly, it won't be absorbed properly blah blah blah. So the first time I called the coordinator and she talked to my doc and he said no it's correct, we've done this before, just tell her to put it in as far as possible and it'll dissolve and be ok.
Cool, so last night I go to Walgreens with my new information and a second pharmacist is like nope.  The prescription itself is contradicting because it says it's a tablet but to insert vaginally so we can't fill it and she gave me the whole same talk about how it's wrong. So I have to call back to the coordinator and hope she doesn't shoot the messenger on this one...
So with all that being said...anyone ever use prometrium this way?
  • jrm_14jrm_14 member
@50wife Yes!  I use prometrium vaginally. My pharmacist never has had an issue with filling it. There is always discharge afterwards - wear a liner!!  That’s super frustrating they won’t fill it.
  • 50Wife50Wife member
@jrm_14 Now do you have an actual suppository or are you using the oral pill vaginally?  That's why the pharmacists are pushing back.  I don't think they'd have an issue if they could give me the actual vaginal suppository.

@50wife I use the oral pill vaginally. 2x/day.l  I had it filled at CVS/Target most recently. I did buy a pack of applicators (like you would use with monistat cream) off Amazon. They make placement a breeze.
  • 50Wife50Wife member
@jrm_14 AWESOME! Thank you!!! I was wondering about inserting it because of the size and shape so I'll definitely be ordering those!
I called and left a voicemail and told the coordinator that they either need to update the prescription to read differently, but we will all know how I'll actually be using it. Or they need to write the prescription for a suppository.  But I'm glad to know there are other women out there doing this, the pharmacist was making me nervous and I was second guessing my doctor - so again, thank you!
  • 50Wife50Wife member
Update:  the IVF coordinator is calling Walgreens and just having it say on paper that I'm taking orally but essentially we all know where I'm putting it.
Thanks for the applicator tip @jrm_14 I just ordered them from Amazon
  • @50Wife I know @jrm_14 answered your questions, but I've done the same. (and had it filled at a walgreens) the RE told me to expect push back from the pharmacy and to just shake my head and say okay and then follow the RE instructions. my walgreens didn't say anything about it. And thanks for the offer that is very kind.

@emmasemm ugh, more medication stress. I think you're due for catching a break!

@purplg8r I'm sorry the monitoring didn't go as hoped. FX those follies get their act together. AFM, I really struggle with getting enough protein in general. I don't eat a lot of meat and generally prefer carbs (who doesn't!) so this is something I've been thinking about and really need to work on.

@KristoKekerooni I'm glad you're able to find a "silver lining," but I really, truly hope you don't get to take the next year off.

@rallykat14 wow, end of the month! I'm excited for you to move forward.

@Avrilmai I told them that I confirmed multiple times with my doctor and they still pushed.  Last night the pharmacist said they need a new prescription, so I said no, I dropped off the paper one here on Thursday so you should still have it.  She said well the instructions don't match what you should be using the pill for so we can't fill it as is. Uggghhhh. I pushed back both times I went and finally the coordinator was like forget it, I'll write it up the way they want it so you can just fill it.  She complained to me that he's the doctor and they should allow him to treat me the way he wants to.
I absolutely appreciate their feedback, but they shouldn't stop me from filling a prescription.

PS I'm glad there's a few of you using that medication the way he's prescribed, it definitely makes me feel better since the pharmacists were so firm with it!

    @beachbunnyxo123 200mg 2x/day- so 400mg total.

@emmasemm If you can’t beat them, make friends with them & then get your drugs ;)

  • @50Wife I have the same deal with estrace.  Bottle says orally,  Dr says vaginally.  I've asked 100 times for clarification because well. . Blue CM. .

@purplg8r I'm sorry this cycle is a no go.   Hugs

@beachbunnyxo123 nope,  frozen.   Which is fine because I'd rather not waste all the drugs if we end up with no embryos from the donor like last time.

  • @purplg8r so sorry you got cancelled. Do you know what IVF protocol they plan for you? As long as they don’t want you on a month of BC you might be able to do the IUI and still be finished with ER by July 18th. It’s worth to check with them, also so they are reminded about your time preference.
Hugs though. Cancelling anything truly sucks.

@lulu1180 I'm glad you're doing stuff for yourself this weekend! Enjoy it and do whatever you need to do in order to keep yourself as happy as possible :)

  • @lulu1180 I may have taken another CoQ10, but I think this is the one I definitely ordered more than once.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0055OUOQQ/ref=zg_bs_3774561_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Y78THJC99ER9T0TJ6GY7

I cant remember if I ever tried this one, however it's Amazon's No. 1 pick (the one above is their No.2)

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0019GW3G8/ref=zg_bs_3774561_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Y78THJC99ER9T0TJ6GY7

Oh, I found the other one I was taking most recently, I believe, as well.  It's No. 17 on Amazon's list.
