I'm starting to shower every day again, and I've got to say it's extremely overrated. Kind of hating it. Apparently I don't mind being dirty. It's been so hot out lately and my leg hair grows so fast, it's unfortunately necessary.
I only shave my legs like every other week, no shame. But my hair doesn't grow super fast and is usually pretty light. Although, it is growing faster now.
+1 for not showering every day. I’m hairy but stopped caring. My kids also don’t shower daily... this past week they didn’t shower for a week. They’re 5, so a little old for that long between showers. Greasy hair and smelly but I just didn’t care.
Same here, showers every other day and my hair is pretty dry so it only gets washed ever 3-4 days depending on if I straightened it or not. DH showers daily, sometimes twice a day depending on work outs.
I might actually be the minority on this one but I shower every day and wash my hair every day too. DH and DD do as well as its just part of our routine but I don't know many other parents that give their kids a bath every night.
We're also an everyday shower family. DH and I twice a day if we work out. On my work at home days sometimes I won't shower until lunch time and I just feel so greasy and gross.
I used to wash hair daily, then I got lazy. It actually turned out alright as it’s less greasy now that it’s only washed 2-3x per week. Score!
Does it count for this thread that I’m pretty sure I’m tapping out on finding childcare and making DH do it? Granted, I know I’m late to the game for this search, but I finally did a quick google search for childcare in my area. Top results~2k per month. What the what?!
We're also an everyday shower family. DH and I twice a day if we work out. On my work at home days sometimes I won't shower until lunch time and I just feel so greasy and gross.
Going from showering every day to not has a greasy gross transition period. Showering dries you out, so your body produces more oil to make up for it and when you skip a day, your body expects the shower and needing more oil, so it still produces. I was disgusting when I stopped showering daily, but things evened out after a while and I stopped getting so greasy on the second day. Now my hair usually looks better on the days I don’t shower (although if I happen to skip a third 3rd day it starts getting gross).
My hair is so thick and so long...I simply cant handle washing it every day! Its more about how long it takes me to blowdry and straighten. Ain't nobody got time for that. I've slowly trained my hair to go 3 days without washing. I shower my body every day though, it helps to wake me up in the morning.
I also haven't shaved my legs in like a month...maybe even longer. Now that it's nice weather out though, it has to happen!
I shower every day unless I'm too dizzy. DD gets a bath every few days but only gets her hair washed once a week (curls). DF meets us in the middle with an every other day shower. I don't shave my legs unless I want to wear a specific dress and the hair is just a little too long to go unnoticed. So before now, I shaved never and now that it's spring I shave like every 3 weeks.
My confession is that I have a confession but I'm kinda scared to post it

@mytrueloves Don't be scared! This is literally the nicest BMB I've ever been on. I just admitted that I'm disgusting and almost never wash my hair and no one has flamed me (yet!)
@halfanewt, lol I did the same thing! I gave H a deadline to give me his top five list because I was sick of looking on my own. We're touring a place on the 14th and it's one that he found - it's also easily my favorite so far, so, that worked out, haha! I had no idea that it was even there and it didn't come up in any of my searches. I have no clue how he found it. 2 heads are better than one, that was my justification for my laziness
I used to be a daily showered. Then child. Now it’s like every other, sometimes three days. Usually because there’s some reason I need to leave the house.
I don’t usually shave my legs at all during the winter. Even in summer, I’ll go at least a week between. My hair is thing and super light. But mostly I just don’t care.
I usually take baths, and never every day. My hair is way nicer on day 2 so I usually shower/bathe every 3 days unless it’s summer and I’m sweaty and icky.
My italian-ness cannot handle a nondaily leg shave. I shaved my legs last night and they're already prickly. Which is why first trimester was a very hairy time for me lolol
I shower every work day for sure, but usually only wash my hair on Sundays and Wednesdays unless there's something special going on. On weekends I might shower both days, or just one. It depends on what's going on and how I feel.
I am drinking a shit ton of diet soda. I normally never drink any soda, diet or otherwise, except when i am pregnant. When this baby comes out with three arms, i have no one to blame but myself.
@KFrob@NiniJ55 same. My kid needs to bathe every day or she smells. It's Miami and like 1,000 degrees, showers need to be had.
Minor confession: I hate when my husband asks me to do things he is perfectly capable of doing but especially hate when he wants me to do something I don't agree with. Not big things like take communion at a catholic church, like calling a tile guy the day after he already called and left him a voice message...in Spanish...after he's called him for like 5 days straight and not received an answer. DH's logic is he'll pick up because it's a different phone number but my argument is do we even want someone working on our home who we have to stalk in order to provide a service WE ARE PAYING FOR.
I digress...the confession is I totally told DH that I had called Monday and I didn't. Not a big deal but I hate lying and feel much better confessing it on here...on the internet in a public forum that can be searched
My hair is super greasy if I don't shower at least every day and a half. I tried to go longer to train my hair or whatever people call it but my hair gets so greasy (even when pulled back) that it irritates my eyes and I get major stabby and get to the point I want to grab a scissors and just hack it off right then and there so the grease can't bug me. sooo I go the max of a day and a half without washing it.
I shower every day. When I started dying my hair purple, I stopped washing it every day, but I still have trouble going more than two days without washing it.
Also- I shaved my legs this week for the first time since my trip in February. After this week, I probably won’t shave them again until early July when I have another trip. And then I plan to go sasquatch until umm... probably next spring. And my leg hair grows in dark and thick. As long as I’m not wearing a dress or out in shorts, IDGAF.
I have a different kind of 'confession' I just worry I'll totally weird people out... I'm a conservative Mennonite. Not old order, as it were, we have electricity, internet, cars, and smart phones. But I do have a black cap on my head and wear dresses every day. I also didn't grow up this way, and I'm a total nerd! Huge into Star Wars (happy Star Wars day!) And I love the Harry Potter books! I was 15 when my parents and sis and I joined this church. I also want to mention that I DO NOT sit here and judge any of you ladies who have a different lifestyle than me. As Jesus said, the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbors! It's right after loving God, so I'd say it's important! It is not MY job to figure out what everyone else should do, and judge their decisions, but to love them regardless. I hope I don't weird any of you out with my 'confession'. I really love all you ladies already, and think you're awesome
I agree with @nasalot188, I love the diversity of our group. I think we are all learning more about the world with everyone's background. I find it very interesting.
I forgot to mention, we don't have televisions, or radios. It's not that we think we'll go to hell if we do watch or listen, we just don't agree with a lot of what is promoted or encouraged with pretty much any of it. I know some in this church, won't watch a movie at all, in a motel or such, but we're not that strict on it. My brother (I have two older brothers neither of them are Mennonites) said he'd put on the latest Star Wars movies for me next time we see him
Thank you so much for sharing. It is amazing to me that we all can come together from radically different lifestyles and bond over something so basic (and weirdly controversial) as being pregnant and raising kids.
@coffee-saur I'm glad you feel safe enough to share. I don't think your religion is that weird tbh. And I agree with everyone else, I love the diversity in this group. Hell, I'm a pagan witch.
So my confession is that we recently realized DD is sugar addicted. Now, she never received a ton of sugary treats to begin with. She wasn't allowed to have pop, ever, and juice was a treat. We don't do desserts in our house and we got organic fruit snacks and stuff like once a month and when it's gone, it's gone. But she's just super sensitive to sugar apparently.
She's currently on a detox and it's going so poorly that my 5 year old is begging me for cough medicine, benadryl, tylenol, and vitamins just so she can have something sweet. My polite, well behaved DD has turned into an absolute monster. Like head banging the air, doing backflips off the couch, shrieking, screaming, picking fights and arguing, having crazy mood swings, and just being an all-around brat.
I feel like someone should warn parents that this can happen to their kids!

@mytrueloves I'm definitely not a child, but I'm super sensitive to excessive carbs/sugar. I get anxiety and a little depressed when I eat too much. I'd just get in these random funks where nothing sounds fun and you just feel very meh and out of it and DH knows about it all and is supportive and reminds me to eat more fat. I normally follow a higher fat Paleo ish diet and that personally helps my moods. It's crazy how much sugar can affect your mood and behavior!!
The insight, and advice, and ideas that come from a group are just awesome! Sending weird internet hugs to all! And if anyone has a question, ask away! As I said, we didn't grow up this way, and I don't mind questions at all. I know it's just a bit different, ya know? And it can just weird people out. I've been asked some really, really strange questions so don't worry about that! Someone asked me if the married ladies wore underwear... I can confirm that we do... @mytrueloves how did you figure out your DD was so sensitive to sugar? I get appalled at times how much sugar we consume in drinks and snacks, etc. daily. I worry about it, cuz it can't be good for a body really. I can't stand anything with any artificial sweetener in it... It tastes awful to me, like gag inducing. I blame that on my mom, apparently she's that way.
I'm stress eating spicy doritos on my couch watching Grey's Anatomy because DF is in surgery and DD is in the bedroom screaming her head off. I have to clean because DF's brother is staying with us over the weekend while helping us with house updates and repairs but I can't make myself do it.
Being an adult is hard.
Also, spicy food makes me sick so I'll be paying for this spontaneous binge soon.

@coffee-saur that's so cool! In my area there's a really popular shake stand that opens every year from November to April run by a German Baptist family that used to come south from Pennsylvania (I believe they live here now). They lived similar to how you do, but without driving cars so we always knew the Knausberry farm family was in town when they'd take their carriage around the neighborhood. So cool that you're in the group!!
Also @mytrueloves how did you figure out she was addicted? And when did you start weaning her?
@princessandthegator DF mentioned that he was concerned about how many times she'd ask for sweets a day. Then I started watching her and realized she was constantly asking for candy. And that she'd reject food but would then beg for sweets of some kind. We figured it was a problem, but didn't realize it was THIS big of a problem. We started weaning her about a week ago. We haven't cut out all sugars, just candy and sweets and things with lots of added sugar, like kids' yogurt.
