  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
4+1 no milestone until we hit 9 weeks.
    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
I have been feeling more tired then normal, super flighty
    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
    ha! through the roof.
    4. Any appointment updates?
I am calling Monday to schedule.
    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Well considering we just got our BFP I am still in shock!  I just want to get to my U/S and see the little bean in my ute and not in a tube. I wont be able to relax until then. Having only one tube make this whole process so stressful.
GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one
man... I know I picked the question... but actually answering is another thing lol I am filled with anxiety and would love to connect with other pgal's. TTCAL was everything to me. I hope we can build the same thing here.

  • @galactickates Hi! Fellow TTCAL grad here (but from back in 2016). I made some AMAZING relationships there that I still have in a private spinoff group to this day (speaking of which, all TTCAL grads are welcome if you’re interested! We’re a little slower with new people this days since I think less know about the group but it’s called TTCAL grads). PGAL anxiety is SO REAL. I’m finding it the tiniest bit easier this time, but we’ll see how long that lasts.

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 4+2 (estimate). Glad to be over 4+1 and done testing!

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? I’ve been having legitimate nausea since Friday. Which I’m still kind of in disbelief about. The first day I thought it was a fluke or nerves but with each passing day it seems more like a symptom. But that’s it right now aside from some tiredness.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I’m actually feeling ok but only as of last night. I woke up with crazy anxiety yesterday morning about darkening test lines (I think because it was technically missed period day). Thankfully I had a great afternoon test and then promised myself I was done and it’s lifted a bit weight off.

I also think having less monitoring this time is actually helpful. *TW* I had a really bad set of betas with DD in week 5 that literally made me anxious for the rest of my pregnancy and caused so much anxiety especially until Second tri!

    4. Any appointment updates? My first appointment is scheduled for 6.5 weeks. Normally my OB offers to bring me in right away but when I tried to get ahold of her I only was able to talk to the nurse practitioner. But as I mentioned above I think this is probably good for me since you can’t see anything definitive before then anyway!

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): DD is sick and I have to take the day off from work tomorrow. Also we’re in the middle of moving to a new house and that’s super stressful and keeping us so busy. And DH is still a bit in denial about this pregnancy (in like a trying to protect himself way). Also I just got the proof for the invites for DDs first birthday. Cue all the tears.

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.
I guess I’ll go classic with a quick version of my story so *TW* ahead. DH and I started actively TTC in January 2016. I got KU in April of 2016 and experienced a loss at 7 weeks in late May (I started spotting at 6 weeks and baby had stopped growing around 5.5). I got a BFP in Obtober 2016 and had my rainbow baby by what was basically an emergency c section due to complications with my epidural and rising temperature in June of 2017 (followed by postpartum preeclampsia and a two week long spinal headache, but that’s a different story)! H and I knew we wanted more kids but we were using NFP to avoid. Well in March of 2018 I got a surprise BFP. It ended in a CP and caused H and I to talk more seriously about when we wanted #2. We weren’t sure we were ready but started taking the NTNP approach. And here we are! So I’m cautiously optimistic.

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?  4+5
    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Nothing really. I'm more emotional, like all my feels are right up my sleeve, but otherwise not much going on physically.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Honestly, right now I'm pretty chill. The only signs that warrant alarm to me are severe cramping and spotting. I might also still be processing it all, even though I've known I'm pregnant for 10 days now.

    4. Any appointment updates? I haven't called my OB yet to make an appointment. I've skipped my period at this point, which is a good sign. I may call at the end of the week.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): We just saw Infinity War so I'm geeking over that! Otherwise, my focus has been on finishing the school year and taking care of DD. PgAL may be easier on me in general this time around because I have a young toddler to care for. But it's still really early, and with summer break looming, I have more time to spend worrying about how things are going.

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.
I'm DubComp. ::waves:: DH and I are both 32, we've been together for almost 13 years and married for 6.5 years.  My first pregnancy lasted Oct-Dec 2016. I was just about to publicly announce after the 12-week appt but learned of a MMC instead. It was devastating after a great 8-week u/s where we saw a happily developing baby. I got another BFP July 2016 and had my rainbow baby March 2017. DD was delivered via emergency c-section due to her heart decelerating each time I contracted. I had a happily uneventful pregnancy at least, and I saw a therapist to help work through my anxiety and to prepare for potential PPD. Therapy seriously helped so much. I am not planning on seeking counseling again at this time, but if I start having panic attacks and/or getting insomnia again, I won't hesitate to. Anyway, I'm excited to be expecting again but will definitely appreciate having a support system since there are a lot of unknowns! I look forward to getting to know you all, not just in the support factor, but to get to know some other cool peeps along the way. :)
  • @galactickates I'm sorry! I can relate. With DD's pregnancy (rainbow baby), the earliest they'd see me was 7 weeks. Most first u/s are scheduled at 8 weeks. I know what you mean about wanting to see the baby safe and soundly in the your uterus ASAP, especially with your history of having an ectopic.
  • @galactickates I’m sorry! That wait is so hard. I hope the time passes quickly!

  • @dubcompanion I’m also SUPER nervous about summer making my anxiety worse. The only saving grace is that if things are going well I’ll be almost Second tri when my summer break starts! Having DD definitely helps though. I’m not constantly thinking about being pregnant.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

life is shockingly boring. Fun thing: I work with animals and was looking at a SDS for a chemical we use to treat a skin condition to see if it was safe for me to handle and it was riddled was type-os and grammatical errors so I rage emailed the pharma company and they responded lolol

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.

I have a 6 y/o daughter and we’re shooting for #2. I had a miscarriage in October that lasted until late December. We went for an appoint at 6 weeks and baby was measuring a week behind, but had a heartbeat, but I knew where it was headed because there was no way I could have been a week behind. So doc had us come back and sure enough the baby had died and must have shortly after my first visit. I did the cytotec route but I apparently responded poorly and bled for forever. Finally the doc had me come back in (this is gross) and pulled a chunk out that was basically stuck in my cervix. Everything finally resolved after that. But, it was a real shit ass experience so I am really hoping this lil nugget is a sticky baby.
  • @galactickates your story made me so mad for you. I hate it when doctors don’t take a woman’s report of pain seriously. Such a pervasive problem.  I’m glad you made it through and moreover I’m glad you’re here

Thanks @ChasingTheDog -I think that's why I tell my story over and over again.  So if someone reads it and recognizes signs they can advocate for themselves.  I had a few people pm while I was on ttgp that told me my story helped them, they recognized something wasn't right and sure enough it was ectopic, and were able to catch it early enough.  I had no clue when I was going through it, that that could even happen.  The more and more I read the more upset I was that it was missed.  Which is why I might force them to see me earlier.  I'm down one tube now. I can't let anything happen to it.

@galactickates Can you call around to other OB offices? I have a blocked tube so our RE did an US at 6.5 weeks to check placement. They waited that long because they wanted to also be able to check HB. It seems completely reasonable to have that checked as early as possible!
  • @SkilledSailor - the scheduling person called back and I asked if that came from my Dr and she said no that was just standard practice.  I asked her to please consult my Dr and to see what she said.  My Dr told me 5 weeks originally.  7.5 weeks is just to long to wait in my case.
  • @galactickates Glad you verified that. Hopefully your OB will stick to his/her word!

  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 4+2 based on LMP

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? No symptoms yet I don't think. Tired and peeing a lot, but I had a really long work-week last week and am drinking more now that's it's warm out (finally!).

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Horrible. No symptoms must mean something is wrong, right? Don't think I'll feel excited until/if/when I hear a heartbeat since that was the appointment last pregnancy that I was diagnosed with the MMC. Also, because I read a stupid science article online about how super-fertile ladies have more miscarriages because they implant things that are not healthy or viable, and because my mom and 2 aunts have had multiple miscarriages, and the only other aunt on that side has 10 kids, I have been convincing myself that I am in that group and who even knows if what is showing up as "pregnant" is viable or not. I AM GOING CRAZY.

    4. Any appointment updates? Going in for blood test tomorrow morning.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Had my annual review at work today. I'm a weirdo who craves feedback, so I actually always look forward to the review. It was a good review that lasted 2 hours, over lunch, out on the roof terrace of a nearby restaurant. So that's def my rave this week. Rant - I'm a lawyer and have had a trial or mediation scheduled at least once per week for the past 3 weeks, and for the next several weeks. So, lots of long nights, unpredictable schedule, and dealing with the wild emotional roller coaster of my clients has been exhausting.

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.
I'm so glad everyone is using this question to tell us their stories! Mike and I have been married just over 10 years, and only decided to have kids last summer/fall. Mid-October we started TTC and mid-Jan I had my first positive test (ended up being 1-2 cycles of trying given when IUD was removed compared to ovulation date). We were excited, told all our family and close friends. Then we went for the 10-week ultrasound, and there was no heartbeat, and we were heartbroken. It got kind of traumatic for me from there (ended up bleeding at work a few days before my scheduled D&C, going to the ER, and having an emergency D&C that night). I wrote a very long thing about it on the miscarriage board. We were NTNP until my first period after the D&C, which started April 1. I have heard people are more fertile after miscarriage, but am also worried this happened so quickly given what I wrote on #3 above.

@galactickates I hope your doctor's office listens to you and does an earlier u/s this time!! If not, have you considered moving doctors? I know that seems extreme but I feel like it's so important to be a strong advocate for yourself and have professionals who listen to your concerns. Given how they reacted last time to your pain, it may be something worth considering?

@Kabazaba I completely empathize with being PgAL after a MMC. There truly is no way of knowing how well the pregnancy is going during the 1st tri, and symptoms (or lack thereof) are not a reliable indicator. Yet, it's so understandable to rely on symptoms because until we have a baby bump, they're all we have. In my personal experience, I had very mild early pregnancy symptoms with my two previous pregnancies (the first one being a MMC at 12 weeks). So last time around, I was convinced I would lose that baby too until we made it to 2nd tri. Not sure if sharing that helped, but just wanted to let you know that minimal pregnancy symptoms really are not bad (if only we could know how this pregnancy would turn out - we could appreciate the lack of discomfort while it lasts! ;)) and that it's totally normal to worry regardless. Fervently hoping that all of us are carrying take-home babies!

    ETA words
  • Hello everybody! I am glad to have some familiar faces and I hope to get to know you all better. Will have to come back for some comments but wanted to introduce myself.

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
4w4d I think? No milestones except that my betas have been great so far and in my first two pregnancies they ranged from not great to bad.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? I have had vivid dreams and my boobs are big (but I'm also on progesterone suppositories). I had my first seemingly hormone induced rage moment last night at DH about laundry. Although that could also be because I am a cranky wife.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? I'm doing pretty well. It still doesn't feel totally real yet. I get anxious waiting for beta results and sometimes still POAS.

    4. Any appointment updates? Had my third beta Monday, and will have another one next Monday. My RE said it was ok for me to come in once a week. My first u/s is scheduled for May 16.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Work is basically madness and I wish it was calmer. I have a couple of huge things going on Thursday and Friday, and then honestly the rest of my May is wall to wall crazy.

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.
So I'm 36, DH is 34, we have three doggos and one cat. We have been ttc our first since last March. I found out last year on Mother's Day that I was pregnant for the first time. I thought it was a sign from the universe. My betas went up but never seemed to double as quickly as I thought they should. Unfortunately at our first u/s (a little past 7w) there was only a gestational sac. MMC was confirmed the following week. My EDD for that pregnancy was 1/24/18. I basically cried all the time for a month. Second pregnancy was a few months later, a CP that ended about 8 days after my first +HPT. We went to the RE after that and did a bunch of testing which ended up giving no answers. I got pregnant a third time in October. For the first time my betas were textbook perfect and we became hopeful. Then at 6w I started to feel something was wrong. Just a feeling that I hoped was my PGAL brain. But, no, my betas fell and the u/s showed only a sac at 6 1/2w. I had a D&C to test the tissue, but it came back inconclusive. The fact that it was inconclusive gutted me almost more than the loss because we still had no answers. We made a decision to try through April and then move to IVF given my age. I feel very fortunate that I am pregnant again, and at the same time it is so hard to believe it will work out.
  • @zamora_spin All the FX for this being your take-home rainbow baby! I'm so happy you're joining us here now!

I had a PGAL anxiety moment last night and went a litttttle crazy. I maybe had one HPT left (clearblue digi) and decided to use it with a 30 minute hold and then proceed to PRY IT OPEN to check the actual stick. I can't believe I did that. But it DID make me feel a little better because I beat the control like crazy with that.

    PGAL is an uphill battle.

  • @dragonette505 PIO seems like such a b*tch. Hope you have some fun tonight. I am your gif.

    @dubcompanion  Infinity War - spoilers
So it wasn’t bad but I just felt like so much of it will be undone in a subsequent movie that all the dying had little emotional impact and seemed kind of overdone.

Here is my PGAL brain in action y’all. Had two betas last week and one on Monday this week. Am going in again this coming Monday. Almost went to an independent lab today to get even more done today. Only didn’t do it because I am so slammed with work!
  • @zamora_spin I read the comics so I have an idea of what will happen in the subsequent movie. But they could always take it another direction too. I personally loved Infinity War, especially since Star Wars 8 was such a letdown to me. But I totally get your perspective too and you’re probably right!
Also, FX for awesome beta results! I mean, ya, that’s a lot of beta testing, but psh, I peed on something like 15 HPTs in 5 days so I’m not one to judge.
  • @dubcompanion I probably shouldn’t go count the number of HPTs I peed on between Monday of last week and Saturday. My best estimate is 20. PGAL is HARD!

  • Piss away man. Piss without shame ✊
  • my bathroom trash can is filled with wrappers and tests....

  • @zamora_spin Sending all the good thoughts your way! I'm in no way a spotting expert, but cervical irritation makes sense. The cervix becomes a lot more sensitive when you're pregnant, and if you're using suppositories those could well be why you're spotting a bit. Keep us posted.
  • 1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
    4 weeks 1 day
    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Appetite has been low, starting to have weird vivid dreams (last night’s included the full cast of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth.)

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I’m all over the place. I’m feeling extremely gloomy. I feel this way usually a day or two the week before my period but it’s just hanging on. I want to be happy and excited but I’m struggling. I have no patience and want to punch 90% of people I encounter directly in the face.
    4. Any appointment updates?

called yesterday and am waiting on a call back for scheduling. Almost broke down into tears when she asked how I’ve been feeling.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

My 3 almost 4 year old has been seriously testing my patience this week. Going to see Brandi Carlisle with my sister and her fiancée tonight so I’m hoping that’ll help with my funk.

GTKY: Tell us anything. Lets get to know each other in this one.

I’m 36 and my husband will be 35 in a couple of weeks. We have an almost 4-year-old boy. We got a BFP last October. I went for my first appointment around eight weeks and the ultrasound that they did just seemed a lot different from my last pregnancy , but the nurse said that she saw a heartbeat, it was so tiny i don’t know if i did, and so I convinced myself that everything must be fine. I think I knew in my gut that something was wrong though. When we went for my next appointment to see the doctor at the end of December we found out that there was no heartbeat and that it looked like the baby had passed away around seven weeks. I’m still not sure how it was missed by my doctors since I went in at 8 weeks. I’m hoping to be more closely monitored this time. I had a D&E on January 2. Since then my periods Haven’t really returned to normal. they’ve been very light and my last one was really just one day of spotting. I took tests after that to make sure it wasn’t implantation or something but they were all negative. It makes me nervous that something will end up being wrong this time and I can’t help but feel anxious more than anything else. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

  • @zamora_spin Oh yeah, I use 2-3 at a time (3 if one is a digi, otherwise I use two different brands at each session) so anywhere from 4-6 per day. So probably used way more than 20. Oops.

As for the spotting, the lines darkening and HCG being high at your beta is great news. And the fact that it's darker is also a good sign. All of hte FX!

  • @julesf817 Welcome! All the FX for a healthy sticky baby! I had a CP last cycle and am a bit worried about getting KU right after as well, but the reality is one does not have any bearing on the other. I know that's easier said than believed though.

  • zamora_spin My functional med doc is doing my thyroid bloodwork today and I was SOOOO tempted to have her do a beta as well (she will do basically any bloodwork I ask for!). But i'm trying to just let things be. I figure if things start going bad i'll be getting all the blood work in the world so trying to enjoy nothing happening at the moment :) ETA: Just saw the spotting! It may be from the suppositories, but I would call the doc anyway. My last doc said the cervix gets very sensitive in early pregnancy.
BitterBetty12  I'm still testing every day... its cray, but what can I do?
@galactickates it would be nice if my trashcan was full... I save them all
julesf817 so sorry that happened to you! It makes it so hard to trust your medical professionals

  • @dragonette505 - my last go around I saved them.  I got to 9 weeks so you can imagine how many I had,  this time if something happens I don't even want to look at them.  I've gone polar opposite this time.
  • @galactickates I keep some from each... it sort of reminds me that they were all real. I do get rid of the digis once the batteries die... its so awful to see a blank screen :(
