  • @EErin86 good luck, very exciting!
  • That's awesome @EErin86
  • @magnolia209 have you heard on your job yet? Did they do interviews yet?
  • Good Luck@EErin86!!
  • @EErin86 Oh, everything is delayed. It’s so annoying! The job I want is part of a bigger plan that has to be approved. I think it will happen, not for a few more months.
  • @magnolia209 oh that's so frustrating  :( we've been hiring a lot lately so they have figured out how to speed up the process
  • @EErin86 good luck!

@adirat I hope you start feeling better soon! And when you find something you can eat, even if just a little, I hope it is delicious and you love every bite of it!
  • Good luck @EErin86!

  • Definitely random: I keep watching the home page every time I log in to see if there's a January, 2019 BMB, and it's not there! I don't know why I'm obsessed with this. I feel like I'm so much further along if I know there are people who are pregnant now who aren't due until next year.
  • Anyone else manage to out grow a maternity shirt yet?

    No? Just me?

  • Goodluck @EErin86 and @magnolia209!

@pourmeamocktail I have a few pants that are feeling a little tight if I eat too crappily, but no shirts yet! I have noticed this pregnancy I am hating tight clothing though, whereas last time I was all about the bodycon dresses and leggings. I anticipate I'll be dropping a few shirts within the next few weeks because of this!
  • @pourmeamocktail OMG I'm so glad you posted that today! I wore this exact shirt two weeks ago and I looked pregnant but it was still long and flowy. Today, it barely covers the bump.

I've started touring preschools this week. It's not super overwhelming because I worked in childcare for so long but I forgot how expensive it is. We found one I love that I'll take H to before putting in the application to hold our spot. BUT my BFF just told me she's 9 weeks pregnant so once she's out of first trimester I want to see if she'd be interested in a nanny share. If she was, it'd be great because we both just need 3 days a week and live just a couple miles from each other. Anyone else starting this process yet?
  • @SkilledSailor I put down the deposit a month or so ago for this little one at the daycare DD is already at. Even if I contacted them the day we found out we were pregnant, we still wouldn't have care available until March 2019. I don't mind since my parents agreed to watch kiddo until we have daycare available (which gets us through cold and flu season), but we'd severely struggle if it weren't for my parents. A nanny share sounds awesome - I hope she has a sticky baby and agrees to it!
  • @SkilledSailor we put our deposit down for daycare for this LO when I was 15 weeks. He’s going to the same place as DS, so it was an easy decision, but the wait list is still super long. Siblings get preference though, so we should be good.

@Patience7150 That was my worry! Even with the 8 months notice, I've had a few schools tell me they won't have openings until April of next year.  :o We don't need care to start until January at the earliest, which is really nice. But my friend waited until her child was born to start looking and they're in a real pinch now.

ETA Thank you @Patience7150 @nackie for making me feel less crazy to be going on these tours so "early". Most of my friends who have had LOs so far ended up using family or became SAHMs so I didn't know what the typical timeframe was for this.
  • We're also planning to use DD's daycare for this one; but we gave the info and put down the deposit in early March for a January 2019 start date; siblings get priority so it won't be an issue.

With DD, even though we started looking the beginning of the 2nd trimester, there was still a lot of doubt we'd have a spot! For multiple reasons we went with a big chain company that has a lot of centers, and paid registration fees to register for multiple centers...once you're into one you get to be top of the list if you want to transfer to another center, so we were at least confident we'd get into one and then just have to wait to transfer to a more convenient one! (As it turns out we got into the one we wanted, but had to decline because my job changed locations, and went to one near my husband's job instead that we also luckily got into...at about 5 months old we transferred to a different center more convenient to both of our jobs (i.e. closer to home)).
  • @SkilledSailor you aren’t crazy. I got on lists at our top three at 8-12 weeks and still didn’t have a spot guaranteed until DS would have been 6 months old. Luckily, a spot magically opened for him when we needed it, but that wasn’t until I was two weeks from returning to work.  With this LO, I told the daycare after my 8 week ultrasound and will have a spot, but not sure the exact dates compared to return from mat leave.
  • @SkilledSailor if you are in a busy area and like the place I'd say get DH over there as soon as possible. You just never know, unless they told you, how many spots they have and when one will open up again once they are taken.
I know it sounds crazy but DD's daycare center was the third person(s) I told I was pregnant. I was not going to risk having two different daycares. I was lucky, they had one spot left. Someone else called that day about availability but because of DD already being a student we get priority. So, little one should have a spot late December 2018/early January 2019.
  • I just started school touring now too! I’m seeing one on Saturday, she assured me I’d have no problem getting in in December. I’m so baffled that some of them have waiting lists that are longer than a year. One woman told me that on the phone and I was thinking “But...babies only take nine...uh never mind” lol. Also eek at the price. It’s going to be about 12% of our income.
  • @ashh2018 at our daycare the infant class is newborn through 15 months at least, so if the class if full of 3-month-olds then no spots will be available for at least a year. (And if there are some older kids, then there is already a waiting list to fill their spots when they move up).
  • Ugh the daycare search and cost is such a headache! I also told my DCP like right after finding out in order to secure a spot. Currently I'm missing her like crazy since she's on vacation and DS has his routine all messed up. My mom is proving to not be a great back up plan so I may be on the search for a last minute babysitter for two kids later on.

Same with ours. And they won’t give a time estimate on when a spot will open up since they have no way of knowing if kids will be withdrawn/switch providers or how many on the waitlist will actually want the spot when it’s their turn. When we registered DS, they just told us the average wait is a year.  This time they told us since it’s a sibling, he’d go to the top of the wait list and would definitely get a spot around when we need one.
  • Sounds fantastic @BusinessWife! I'll live vicariously through you and ask H for a massage tonight or tomorrow.
  • @BusinessWife That sounds so amazing! @nlc8424 Husband massages are good too!

I’m asking my H to get me a professional prenatal massage for my birthday in June.

@Patience7150 Is yours all the way out already? Mine is getting shallower and shallower! I’m totally terrified of when it’s going to pop out! Will it show through all of my clothes?
  • @magnolia209 not out all the way yet! I get like...5-6 weeks where I finally don't get a flat spot in the front of my shirt, and then it does start ultimately showing through. I had a winter pregnancy last time so over the bump pants helped smooth it out when it did pop. Not sure what I'll do this time!
  • Baby hiccups?!?! Is 18+ 3 too soon for baby hiccups? I do not remember feeling this w DD... but I also remember not really thinking she had ever truly gotten hiccups in utero.

Not too early. My kiddo totally had the hiccups in utero all the time and was head down and it was super weird feeling hiccups by my cervix (or at least that's what it felt like to me.)
