I had a 12 week ultrasound today. Discovered an "8 week fetal demise" I had a pap done at 8 weeks... It bled and she sounded super nervous. But i left thinking oh thats normal.... ANyone have this happen or similar? Is this a coincidence?

First of all, how terrible. I am so sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking
However, pap smears are SAFE and I've never heard of one being the cause for a miscarriage. If there were a correlation between pap smears and a potential to cause miscarriage I'm confident doctors would not be performing them as routinely on expectant mothers as they are. Light bleeding is often associated with it, but that is not abnormal.
A pap is performed collecting a few cells from the end of your cervix with either a small brush or swab. Nothing is inserted into your uterus. Plus by then your body would have produced a mucus plug and your cervix would be tightly closed so nothing is "accidentally" getting into your uterus. It was an unfortunate coincidence in timing.
I pray you heal quickly and make sure to take care of yourself.

Ive had a pap during pregnancy before and never had any bleeding, but I would assume a little bleeding is common. That being said, I don't think there is any correlation between your pap and your loss. It's just coincidental timing.
I am so sorry for your loss. One of my losses was discovered in the same way as yours, fetal demise at 8w and discovered at a later ultrasound. It was so sad to find out that way and I had also wondered if this or that that I had done around that time might have been the cause. May you find peace, too.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I understand wanting to find a reason to make sense of everything, but unfortunately usually there isn’t one. I hope you find peace.
