@mrs_drc_rn@hopeful91 yeah i'm going to ask if he will extend that to 28 weeks, i'd feel a lot more comfortable at that gestation point than 24 weeks, but who knows- we'll see

@harleyquinn0621 I hope you can get it extended! The tech I had today peaked at my cervix while she was doing the abdominal scan, so I may ask them to take a look from now on, and maybe see if I can get another vaginal scan around 30ish weeks. The fact that the midwife said she could get the very tip of her finger in my cervix this week makes me nervous, even though she’s still saying it’s closed.
Anyone diagnosed with IUGR? My doctor put it on the paperwork from my last ultrasound and never said anything to me about it. He is also doing a fetal echo in 7 weeks during my ultrasound and I am not sure why. His lack of communication is pissing me off. I am going to talk to my OB about it when I see her in a few weeks since it just says borderline, but it still worries me a little bit.
@hoodwink89 i haven't but i would be pissed if something was noted in my chart like that and not discussed with me! have you called the office to see if someone can explain to you what they saw??

@hoodwink89 girl I’m so sorry, I hope you get answers! Is this your MFM? I’ve got fetal echo coming up too but it’s standard in my practice for diabetic pregnancies. Hugs, I’m sorry you’ve got this anxiety to deal with.
@mrsbubbles-2 much better today! DH got off work last night and bought me a case of FIJI water and told me to drink up LOL poor guy was a mess the whole time i was in L&D just to find out i'm dehydrated

I know it’s a little early, but has anyone started tracking kick counts yet? I was feeling fine the first few days after being in L&D, but now I’ve just been feeling kind of anxious about everything. Like, I just can’t shake this feeling that I’m going to end up going into labor prematurely again. How has everyone else been coping?
@mrs_drc_rn I haven't been specifically tracking but it does cross my mind occasionally despite it being.early. I went in several times for reduced movement with my daughter much further along-- I had a lot of anxiety about it with her. I carried her to term though, I was not high risk with her. What happened with your last pregnancy?
@mrs_drc_rn I've done it a few times. You said it was a little early to do so - so I googled it. It says for high risk pregnancies, some docs start counting around 24weeks - which is where most of us are, I think? My doc hasn't mentioned anything about it, but i imagine when I see her at 27 weeks, she will. Did you talk to your doc about it?
@mrs_drc_rn I haven’t started kick counts yet but I track when her normal active times are. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with anxiety. Ditto @hezzer78, have you talked to your doctor about it? Sending love and hugs, I hope everything is incredibly boring until August
@hopeful91 I went in for decreased movement with my son and was told I was having minor contractions but wasn’t dilated, so they sent me home. I was back at L&D about 12 hours later, 7cm dilated and ended up needing an emergency c-section at 34 weeks. I was doing well this time, but now I just feel so anxious about delivering early again.
@hezzer78 ok, so I’m not that crazy to be counting then! I actually just downloaded an app yesterday to start counting. I was only reading that with most pregnancies you start counting at 28 weeks.
@mrsbubbles-2 I think I’m going to bring it up at my next appointment. I just finished up seeing the other docs in the practice, so my next appointment is with the doc I see all the time.
I think the incision from my biopsy is just adding to my overall moodiness and all. It’s just not really healing and I made an appointment with my primary this week to get her opinion. I’m hoping it will save me a trip back down to the city where the surgeon is.
Thanks for listening ladies! I just seem to be in a bit of a funk that I need to get myself out of.
@mrs_drc_rn I can understand your anxiety! Did you know you were having contractions when you came back 11 hours later and did you know you were at risk for preterm labor? I had contractions early with my daughter but I think they were BH as I was not dilating until much later
@hopeful91 I knew I was at risk because I had fibroids when I was pregnant with my son, but it was never really discussed at great length. Just kind of mentioned quickly, and then mostly I got the old “it’s your first child, you’ll go past your due date.”
A few hours after I came home from the hospital the contractions started getting stronger but I didn’t know strong BH should be. I just kept drinking water and laid on the couch. We timed them for a few hours before I went in and they were kind of all over the place. It wasn’t until I vomited out of the blue that I told DH we needed to get back to the hospital.
@mrs_drc_rn i don't do kick counts but i only feel her sporadically right now.. has your Dr mentioned Makena shots since you have a history of preterm labor?
went in for my cervix measurement today... shortened to about 2.25cm ... so i'll go back for my next one in a week instead of two weeks... the Dr said it's not unusual that by the third trimester she may be right up against the stitch... i know he deals with this all the time but that makes me nervous

@harleyquinn0621 do you have to be on any kind of modified bedrest?
Bedrest is no longer the recommendation for cervix issues. It hasn't been for about 5 years. The reasoning behind that is bed rest can weaken your abdominal muscles, so when PTL happens you can't fight it off by walking or drinking more water. So it has been shown to lessen the chances of making it full term.

@princesslockness I had no idea! My doctor put me on modified bed rest for the placenta previa after having a bleed. It's really hard especially with a toddler around.
Well today has been an exciting morning here. Started having pain and felt like I was peeing myself around 1:30am. Got up and started getting ready for work, and things just continued to feel off. Called the doc and just got home from a check up. Good news is baby is doing just fine and I am not leaking amniotic fluid. Bad news is I am contracting. I am now home on bed rest until Thursday. They will check again on Thursday and hope the contractions will stop. Nothing like a little excitement to start your week! I hope everyone else had a very uneventful start to their day!
@hopeful91 It was a shocker to me when my MFM brought it up when I had my cerclage placed. She went on like a 20 minute rant about 'what idiots did that to you last time' and 'no wonder you were in PTL so long/often. Its a wonder you didn't have a baby at 28w.' It was eye opening.
@kc0711 I'm sorry!!! Hopefully they stop on their own. Did they give you any advice to help them stop?

@princesslockness I have been told to drink at least a gallon of water every day, and was put on prophylactic ibuprofen every 6 hours to try and calm down my uterus. Now it’s just rest and wait until Thursday. If the contractions get worse, we’ll go back in sooner.
@harleyquinn0621 - girl, I'm so sorry for the additional stress. I get being nervous. I'll be thinking of you and hope the next update is that things are holding steady! Big hugs
@kc0711 - thinking of you too! I really hope that the contractions stop before your checkup on Thursday. Will be stalking for updates, did your doctor tell you anything to do at home between now and then?
@princesslockness did you deliver preterm before? Glad you changed doctors! Bedrest is awful- wouldn't want to be on it for no reason (or especially if it's causing harm)
@harleyquinn0621 I’m currently on Makena injections. I do them myself every Friday. I started at 16 weeks and will do them until 36 weeks. Ugh, I’m sorry about the shortening. I’m keeping FX that it’s not any shorter at your check next week.
@kc0711 so sorry for the stressful morning! So scary! I’m praying you get some good news Thursday and that they’ve stopped! Take it easy until then girl!
@princesslockness i know 2.25 is still good... i just hate watching it shorten every appointment.. but we got this! we'll make it !!
@hopeful91 no official bedrest yet, so i still go to work (desk job) but when i'm home i stay off my feet as much as possible. I could probably do a little better job of doing that.
@kc0711 how scary ! hoping the the contractions stop

@hopeful91 I didn't actually switch doctors. I got a binder's worth of research from the MFM lady. Then when they mentioned that was were I was headed, I literally threw the book at him. I have a practice where I see everyone/whoever is available, so it got passed around.

Thinking of all of you today and FX that everything is going to be great!
Update from my doctor, he put that on my chart because baby girl is currently in the 17th percentile for growth. IUGR is 10g or less which is why I am borderline. Also the fetal echo is because I am diabetic. It just would have been nice for him to explain this to me at my appointment or, you know, tell me about it at all.
Still not sure how I have a baby in such a low percentile. My 5 year old has always been in the 90+.
@hoodwink89 - my last pregnancy I measured in the 13th all the way to about 34-ish weeks and then I think I was in the 30th. DS was born weighing 7lbs 11oz. He's now in the 98th percentile for everything - height, weight, etc. I think this time I'm right around 16th percentile? It's so hard to get an accurate measurement, one mm off by the tech can change your percentile and so can the algorithm they use for calculations. (I guess there are a few different ones?) Anyway, I'm sorry that it's causing you stress, you're right, it would have been nice for your doctor to say something at the appointment! Then you could have asked questions.
@hoodwink89 at my last ultrasound I was measuring different than expected. Tech and doctor both said that can be a matter of positioning. It doesn't seem to be an exact science.
Sucks they didn't give you all the info right away and caused worry.
@hoodwink89 last appointment I was told I have IUGR. In my case, I knew it was a potential issue, as all of my pre-existing conditions have high rates of it associated with them. At this point, it's just watching and waiting.
