  • Copied my post from 4/2 weekly randoms since it applies here:

Sorry for the multiple postes, but they're back in stock for the time being so ordered my Amazon Baby Registry Welcome Box yesterday + had an offer for a free (separate) gift.  The free gift I chose is an Infantino Flip Flop Frog Rattle.  They had a variety of teethers/small baby toys to choose from.

Previously (I don't know if I posted about this) I also got my baby box from Baby Box Co. a week or so ago.  You look up Baby Box University, register, and sit through some online videos (it's state specific) and then answer a short quiz.  It's pretty basic knowledge, but the idea is to educate on safe sleeping guidelines.  Then they ship you a baby box (may have to pay S&H) I was able to have shipped to the nearest Walgreens for free and just had to pick it up.  The main thing is the box itself.  It provides a safe sleeping space for baby.  I plan on using it primarily for storage, but will use it in a pinch if we're traveling for baby to sleep in.  I'll have to post later what all came with the baby box tonight (again, I believe it's state specific on what you get).

And feel free to side-eye, but I have no shame, I am all for having multiple registries and getting free samples/coupons/etc when available.  I rarely shop at any one store for everything so I think it's silly to limit registries to only one specific store (hence why I love babylist.com cause you can link all your registries together in one place).  So get that loot when/where you can.  Babies are trial and error and finicky to boot dependent on what they like so if you can get multiple samples to try out before spending the cash DOIT and then donate unused items to those in need.

Future welcome boxes/bag/things I plan to look into:
    noobie.com (pay S&H)
visit a nearby buy buy baby to register for a few items
visit a nearby target to register for a few items
register for Walmart Welcome Baby Box (pay S&H)
Waiting on Amazon Baby Registry Welcome Box

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts Wow, thanks for all that info!! I'm excited that the Amazon welcome box is back in stock, but it's more expensive than I realized. Let us know if the contents are worth the money. Oh! I just realized for the Amazon welcome box you have to have made a purchase of $10 from your registry, then it's free. I'm going to look into that tonight so I can get it for free!

The Baby Box thing sounds super cool; what a great idea for them to offer free stashes of stuff after teaching you about safe sleeping. I don't think it's wrong of you at all to sign up for multiple registries and get some free stuff. No shame!

@offtoneverland yep! Make a $10 purchase and I *believe* once it's shipped then you qualify for the Welcome Box for free.  I had signed up for Amazon to have sent out an email once they had the boxes back in stock, but I don't think I ever got it, I just on a whim (lurking October's deal's thread) saw it was available.  So, gotta spread the word :)

And YES! Baby Box University is such a great concept!  And I LOVE that they emphasize that newborns don't need anything fancy to be safe.  I can so see my MIL not thinking about it and just putting baby down to sleep on her bed or the couch or somewhere so it'll be great to have a super compact/portable sleeping spot for baby that doubles as storage (the trick is putting it somewhere so that cats don't claim it as theirs in the meantime).

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts oh i love the box!  this is something that i think Sweeden does (or one of those great European countries)...or something similar, but so that every baby has a safe space to sleep, and some bar essentials....i'm doing it! this is great!

ETA Darn, just realized you have to be a Prime member to receive the box.

  • Just fyi the Noobie box (register at noobiebox.com) is free but you pay ~$7 shipping/handling. If the "guide"  giftcards really are gift cards and not just coupons like ($50 off once you spend $150) than it's totally worth it I think. Otherwise it's decent, but not near the same level as the Amazon box.

  • I'm struggling with finding the Amazon welcome baby box, and I'm a prime member!

I wonder if it's because I just end up reusing our baby registry from the first and changing it each time?
  • I got my Amazon box last night! I got all the same stuff as @lurvleybunchococonuts, except like @offtoneverland I got the plain white Burt's Bees onesie. The shipping was super quick on it too. It said it wasn't going to arrive until May 14th, but came on the 9th.

  • @hollyeva I'm sorry this is such a late response, but I reused our baby registry from our first, and I didn't have any issues getting the welcome box (I couldn't find a way to create a brand new baby registry). Does this link work for you? https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Family-Baby-Registry-Welcome/dp/B00N1NBOV2 One of the questions/answers below the item on Amazon has a really helpful list of what you need to do to qualify for the free box: You have to 1. be a prime member 2. have had $10 in purchases made and shipped from registry 3. Go to the baby registry checklist and check every item (even if you do not add it to your registry) THEN when you open your registry the top menu bar where it reads "Exclusive Offers" "Completion Discount" "Welcome Box".. Under Welcome box dropdown, click on "check status" and this is where you will see the first 3 steps checked off and the "Claim Now" button. This will add it to your cart and the $35 credit is already selected (at the bottom under all the other payment options".

    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @pink_polkadots - do you find the way the BRB opens all the way hard with a newborn? Do you think a strict backpack style is a pain to get into out and about? My best friend has one and those are her complaints (although otherwise she loves it, she just wasn't sure about grabbing something quick and easily with a newborn). The BRB looks more comfortable, but I like that you can hang the BFF on a stroller if needed. Gah I seriously stink at making decisions.

@mockingjay1 I’ll be honest I didn’t use the BRB when DD was a newborn, so I can’t say from direct experience. If you open the zipper from the top then you would only have to open it as much as you want. For me as long as I put things in designated pockets, I had no problem grabbing something real quick. As for the stroller hanging, I bought one of those mommy hooks and I would just hang the back pack from the top loop. If the back straps are loose enough, I could even hang it by those over the handle bar. Of course that would also depend on what kind of stroller you had. If you’re unsure I think the website has videos that show you what each bag offers.

  • I'm super excited!  I have been wanting to get a BRB for my diaper bag and I really liked the tokidoki one that is on sale but I didn't even include it in the options when I was sending my hubs to see which he liked best and he found it and was like why don't you like this one?  So not only did I get the diaper bag style I liked for cheap but I also got the pattern I liked!

  • @pink_polkadots omg this is great! just ordered a brb. My DH thinks im a weirdo for getting one now and not registering for one and waiting. Ummmm who says I can’t have 2. Maybe I’ll register for something from the XY collection for him. He’ll be singing a different tune then.
question- why is it such a pain that it opens all the way, not seeing the cons of that but I’m a FTM so I have lots to learn.

I totally am registering for a second one!  The one I ordered is a tokidoki so we are registering for a black and white one for when we are feeling like using a less crazy one!

  • @arieselle I’m not really sure why that would be a complaint either, but to each their own! Maybe she found it hard to get all her stuff back in the bag if she opened it up all the way? @mockingjay1 any input on that?

  • She just said she felt like she had to have it set down and flat to open the big pocket. I think she had it unzip all the way once and a bunch of stuff fell out. She still likes it and uses it all the time, but thought she might like something different with a newborn (she's due with her third in a couple weeks).

I just bought the brb in the admiral print. I've been eyeing that one and another legacy print for a while now. So glad to save almost $100 on it! Thanks again!

  • @mockingjay1 I'm looking at the admiral print too. It's super cute!
  • Thanks all for your input and thanks a million to @pink_polkadots for letting us know about the sale! I just got the BRB in the admiral print. Figured the print was fitting since DH is in the navy.
