    Why are you high-risk?
    AMA, Diabetic, IC

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
had my monthly regular appointment this morning- next cerclage check 04/23

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
has anyone started buying big ticket items for the baby yet (cribs, strollers etc).. we're still so nervous to buy anything big.. we've been given lots of clothes for her and have some other smaller odds and ends, but i feel like if i wait too long we are going to be completely unprepared lol

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
we're hoping to start the process of buying a house by year end.. we were supposed to at the beginning of the year but when we found out we were pregnant we decided to wait until the baby got here.

  • @harleyquinn0621 - we haven't bought anything but some clothes yet, but we're re-using a lot of DS's things. I wouldn't worry yet, there's still plenty of time but it does go fast once 3rd tri hits! Have you picked out what you want yet and are just waiting to go buy it?

Really, the only big things you'll need is a car seat to get baby home, somewhere for baby to sleep (crib, rock n play, whatever you choose), diapers and whatever you'll need to feed baby (obviously differs if you're breastfeeding vs formula feeding vs exclusively pumping or a combination of all 3!) I get being nervous, I can't wait to hear another awesome update after your next cerclage check!

How far along are you? 22+4

Why are you high-risk? Diabetes and AMA

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I had an MFM appt yesterday. I had a bit of spotting so they sent me for an ultrasound for cervix measurement and a cervix exam. Everything was fine and baby looks good, no reason for the spotting so they put me on pelvic rest and said to come in if it keeps up. So far today nothing and baby is doing aerobics so I'm feeling better.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Just an emotional basketcase after yesterday's appointment. My sugars have been really rocky and it's mostly stress related. So I got told to get things in check and figure out a way to manage my stress better. Just ugh, the way she was talking really made me feel all the guilt for what an asshole my body is. So I've been laying low today and just trying to catch my breath.

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018? I love this question! I don't have a good answer though lol! I'm so focused on getting to August that I haven't thought beyond that.

@harleyquinn0621 We've purchased a crib, car seat, pack & play, all new with deep discounts from BRU before they went belly-up. They're still in their unopened boxes just waiting for our eventual move. I purchased used: a Rock & Play and crib bedding/accessories so far. I have purchased no clothes, toys, diapers, or whatever else babies might need yet. I figure I'll get a stack of basic onesies and some smaller packs of different brand of NB diapers soonish, just to have something on hand. But I also figured our families would probably get us a ton of stuff later on via registries. I'm trying not to stress too hard about it yet. However I did freak out and think something imminently bad was going to happen after I dropped cash on the crib and car seat, because that'd be my luck. Go away PGAL brain. heh

@mrsbubbles-2 I'm sorry they made you feel crappy about your numbers and stress, it's not like you can help the stress a lot of the time. My numbers have been a bit more up and down than I'd like given all of the family stress I'm dealing with right now, as well.

But just remember: Take a step back. Take a deep breath. Take stock of things in your life. Deal with what you can in the best and healthiest ways you can. If you need help, admit it to yourself, and seek it out, there is no shame in doing so. And be sure to take it one day at a time and don't let yourself get overwhelmed by all of it at once.

It's sad, but I have to remind myself of it a lot lately. Just disconnecting myself from the stressful situations and saying, "Not my circus, not my monkeys" or "Fuck it, I'm eating some sugar free ice cream", has helped immensely. (hugs)

    Why are you high-risk?
AMA, GD, History of miscarriage, History of hypertension, Partial Placenta Previa

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
No, this is my off-week. Just gotta keep eating well then noting my meals and blood sugar readings.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Today, I wish this little one would stop break-dancing on my cervix! Last night while talking with my husband about my family insanity, I was lounging back on the couch. He was zoned out, watching while I was idly petting the cat laying on my lap and my belly just behind the cat jumped as I got a really good kick. He was like, "Was that what I think it was?!" and I said, "Yep, it'd been giving me little ones while we've been talking, but that's the biggest I've felt before." So he sat there for like an hour fixated on watching my belly move all on its own. Heh

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
Selling our home, which I love, but it's too much per month. So I'm kind of excited to unload all of the "stuff" that's cluttering our lives, downsizing, and finally being able to save some meaningful money for our future adventures. :)
  • @mrsbubbles-2how crappy of them to make you feel bad... they KNOW it gets harder the further you are and a lot of that is hormonal and NOTHING you can control...

and we HAVE picked out stuff.. we've just put off buying it, and to be fair, my mother will be buying the whole nursery set (crib, dresser etc etc etc) but we had a REALLY bad experience trying to return some expensive items that were gifted to us from our registry at Babies-R-Us last year after we lost our son at 19 weeks.. so that's a lot of it.... sometimes i feel like i have PTSD from that whole experience...

    @neeraja_k yay for baby movements!

I can't believe i forgot to put this in the Rave section but i'm like 99% sure i felt some good baby movements last night... it felt like, something was swishing around in my belly or something.. lasted for awhile and then eventually stopped  <3

Biggest of hugs coming your way, I'm always here if you want to chat <3 And OMG for feeling movement!!! The swishing is exactly how mine started, like if you put your hand on a fish bowl and feel the movement... I don't know if I'm describing it accurately... but that's such a wonderful moment!!!

  • @harleyquinn0621 I haven't gotten anything, but this is #3. I think I waited until after our shower. Just in-case someone had bought a big-ticket item from another source than the registry.   Having a history of loss its a difficult balancing act, between wanting to be prepared incase LO comes early vs the 'knock on wood/jinx yourself' mentality.

@mrsbubbles-2 I'm sorry that your numbers aren't working. You doc seems to have sat on a stick when it comes to your pregnancy. There are things you can control, like what you eat, but you can't control how you physically react to things.

@neeraja_k I have always been fascinated by watching H and the bump interact. I can feel it all but him seeing it in reaction to his voice or a warm hand is always fun to watch.

    How far along are you?
    24w1d

    Why are you high-risk?
IC, PPTL, MC, IR,  high BMI, Pre-E . . .

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Nope. Next Friday for a cervix check, and doppler.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
My superintendent just sent out an email with a new policy. Stating in no uncertain terms that we can't leave class to go pee. While it won't affect me next year, I'm still a cat brushed from tail-to-head about it.

GTKY:  What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?  I gain what ever is left of tenure in Idaho. Meaning that they are unable to not renew my contract unless there is a huge/serious reason. So I get to relax a bit about work.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I am sorry about your doctor. I really hate when they act all high and mighty. I love going to the pediatrician with my daughter because those doctors have amazing bedside manner, apparently all of the OB's and MFM's in our a practice didn't get that memo.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
We had our ultrasound yesterday and she was being stubborn (big suprise) and would barely show her face. Anyone else get the 4D pictures yet? I can be the only one who think they look a little creepy right now. Not enough chunk yet. She is 13 oz which the doc said is a little small but he isn't concerned. I was amazed by this since he told me I was going to have a super big baby because my numbers weren't under 120. I really wanted a told you so moment with him.
My numberrs have been doing really great so far and the nutritionist started the ball rolling on my insulin pump. I should have it in about 3 weeks. I will keep you up to date @mrs@mrsbubbles-2

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Miss Muffet has an ear infection and apparently feels like dirt. 10 Days of amoxicillin for her.

Both her and DH were able to feel Riley move yesterday. She really loves to punch me in the crotch, not my favorite thing.

We haven't bought any big ticket things yet. Our city wide rummage sale is this weekend so I am hoping to stock up on a bunch of stuff. Plus our shower is in July and we won't buy anything else until after we have that.

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
I can't really think of anything right now. We are taking our two and our two nieces and nephew to Disney World and Universal Studios in February of next year and I am super excited about that!
  • Thank you so much ladies for letting me whine and for all the love and support <3

@hoodwink89 - +1 to having a stubborn baby! Half our pics of her she's curled into a little ball so you just see spine. DH said she looks like the Predator  :D I can't wait to hear how it goes with your pump!

@princesslockness - I'd be pretty ticked off with that policy too! Like, you can't really control when you've got to go! Is he planning on issuing Depends for the staff? Are you excempt while you're pregnant? Because I would think that would fall under the whole 'reasonable accomidations' thing

@neeraja_k - thanks girl. I think I do need to take a step back and realize that there are things outside of my control right now. And how cool to watch baby do all the kicking from the outside! I got a wallop of a kick last night that I could just barely see on the outside so I know it's coming!

  • Sorry I’ve been MIA ladies! We had our Baltimore trip last week, then I worked all weekend and now I’m actually sitting in L&D. More on that below...

How far along are you? 23+1

Why are you high-risk? Prior preterm birth, myomectomy last year.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Well, Friday is my monthly growth scan and bi-weekly dildo-cam (haha kudos to whoever started that). This morning I had some bright red blood when I wiped, but I tried not to freak out and just laid down for a bit. I woke up feeling a little crampy so OB wanted me to come in to get checked. So far everything looks fine, the midwife said she can get the very tip of her finger in my cervix but it is firm and closed. Just waiting to get an ultrasound and urine results!

Rants/Raves/Questions? Enjoyed our few days in Baltimore! DH started his new job as an applications engineer and really likes it. Looking forward to getting the nursery more cleaned out this week!

GTKY: What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018? We don’t really have any other big events coming up. Hoping we can just get our house more fixed up to eventually sell in a few years.

@harleyquinn0621 no big purchases over here yet! I want to the room ready first so we can just put everything right in there!

@mrsbubbles-2 ugh, sending hugs! I’m glad everything was ok after the spotting, and I hope you can find some ways to de-stress.
  • @mrs_drc_rn oh sweetie. I’m so thankful everything is looking ok. Will you keep us updated? I also sent you a PM, I’m going to have to have some additional checks too after yesterday so if you want to talk, I’m here <3 Hugs hugs and more hugs

  • @harleyquinn0621 we are holding off as well on big ticket things.  We are replacing carpets next month, so not wanting to move anything big in just to move it out again. I also get the anxiety.  I have it too. .

@mrsbubbles-2 glad things are looking good, spotting is hard.  I'm sorry they are being so rough about your sugars.

@neeraja_k  I can't wait to feel baby move that much!  I tried to show DH how there was a foot or something sticking out a bit in one place but not moving, he wasn't super excited.

@princesslockness I can't imagine not being able to pee! That sucks.

@mrs_drc_rn I'm glad it's good news so far.  Keep us updated!

    How far along are you?

    Why are you high-risk?
AMA, RPL, blood pressure started creeping up, partial placenta previa

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Nothing this week.  We are past extra monitoring until 28 week ultrasound for placenta placement.  Our next appointment is May 4, regular OB

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Is anyone else still exhausted in second trimester?  I have not had the nesting instinct kick in at all.  I just want to sleep all the time.  I think mostly I'm overwhelmed.  I've been working 60+ hours per week trying to finish my final field placement and then trying to get the house ready for a baby.  Hopefully with a more normal work schedule now I'll feel better.

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
I have finished my MSW!  Well officially the semester ends Friday but I'm done with all the work.  I'll just be waiting for graduation in mid-May.  I can't believe it's actually done.

Why are you high-risk? AMA, 2 MC's, corrected uterine septum

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Had an OB appointment yesterday. Everything looks great - HB is 150 and baby is rolling around fairly regularly now. Doc did say I have gained more weight than they would like- and proceeded to ask me what I eat and how much, etc. Ugh. In her defense, I did kind of let loose around Easter with the candy and treats, and cutting back on sugar would not be a bad idea. She did tell me I need to cut back on bread and portion sizes. Gah.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing really this week. Next MFM appointment is May 1 - I think that may be the last time I see him, which will be kind of sad cuz I like that doctor a lot. Will you guys be seeing your MFM until delivery?

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
Getting my graduate degree. I finish in May and I'm so thrilled to be done with it. I have no idea what I plan on doing with that super expensive piece of paper, but I'm going to be happy I have it.

@harleyquinn0621 We got a stroller - only because we had a coupon at buy buy baby. Our friends gave us their crib, and my parents got us the car seat. We are pretty good on basic 'big stuff' right now - but I did want a pack n play. We may hold off on buying much of anything until after the shower in June. I've only been buying a few cloth diapers a month to build our stash.

@mrsbubbles-2 Oh man - that spotting must have been so scary. I'm glad it seems to have resolved itself and that you're laying low. Can you take a little mini vacation from work and whatever is stressing you out?

@neeraja_k How cool that you felt and SAW some movement! I haven't seen any thing from the outside. Poor H keeps asking me what it feels like..I can't wait til he can see them and feel them!

@princesslockness OMG - is that new rule even legal?? I mean, we only have 5 minute passing periods. I have to run to use the bathroom and get back before the bell rings. If I have to leave during class, I get my neighbor to watch my students while I run to the bathroom super fast. Could you not even do that??

@mrs_drc_rn How frightening to see bleeding!! Please keep us updated with the results of the ultrasound! <3

@stac928 Pardon my ignorance, but what's a MSW? Congrats, whatever it is! :)
  • I think we can get next door to watch them, and pregnancy reasonable accommodations, I just read it was ticked. We don’t have a bathroom in our hallway and a 4 minute passing. Not going to work in the long run.

  • Thank you ladies! Really no answers as to where the blood came from and baby was perfectly fine. The tech did a vaginal US and said my cervix was still nice and long, but then when she looked at with the abdominal ultrasound, it looked shortened. She repositioned me and did another vaginal US and felt confident it was still measuring 3.7cm. I just left with orders to stay hydrated and follow-up in the office by the end of the week.
  • @Stac928 totally in the same boat with feeling exhausted! I just started feeling a little more energy the past week or so and have started a bit of nesting, but I mostly just want to nap every single day!
  • We have purchased a fair amount of the big things to get prepared. She’s expected to be early and I may have to go on bed rest, so we wanted to be prepared. We have a crib, dresser, and car seat- basically the essentials to be able to bring her home and figure it out from there!

Baby moves constantly these days! I swear some days she does not sleep. She loves to kick and roll, and responds DH’s voice now, which I love. I also was resting my hot coffee mug on my belly today, and she started kicking at that.

GTKY: , What's one other thing besides baby you're excited about that's coming up in 2018?
Baby is kind of the big thing! We haven’t planned anything else for the rest of the year because we just don’t know how early she’ll be and if we’ll need to stay close to home for a while after she’s born. Hopefully we will be taking her back east to meet my family, especially her great grandma (first grandchild and great grandchild on my side of the family) and to the Midwest to meet her cousins and family on DH’s side.

  • @harleyquinn0621 thinking of you and FX everything is good and that you may just need to take it easy and some extra water.
  • @harleyquinn0621 will be stalking for updates!  <3
  • thank you everyone! me and baby checked out fine. i was a little dehydrated so they said that is the most common cause of cramps during pregnancy.... i'm working from home for the rest of the day just to take it easy and drinking lots of water .... as silly as i felt, it's better than the alternative of something being wrong

  • @harleyquinn0621 glad it's just dehydration.  That's a bitch during pregnancy and I feel like it's so, so easy to get dehydrated.

  • @harleyquinn0621 so happy to this update! Glad everything was ok! I’ve been trying to drink a little extra water lately, but it’s so hard!
  • How far along?
    23+4

    Why high risk?
    Complete placenta previa

    Additional monitoring this week?
    Nope

    Raves- loving feeling baby move!
Question- Is anyone on some type of "bed rest"?

GTKY: Hmmm- haven't thought much about that! Baby is the big thing we have going on.

We haven't bought anything big- hoping we won't have to because we can use the stuff we already have.

    @princesslockness that policy is ridiculous!

@hezzer78 I only see the MFM for ultrasounds and additional monitoring. My OB will deliver.

@harleyquinn0621 glad you and baby are ok.
  • @harleyquinn0621 I’m so happy everything is ok!!! I hope you just get to relax the rest of the day <3

  • @hezzer78 I actually only saw the MFM once in the beginning for his recommendations, my OB handles everything and will deliver.
  • Glad everything is ok @harleyquinn0621
  • @hopeful91 @mrs_drc_rn Yeah, my OB will deliver too. I was hoping I would keep seeing my high risk doc until the end - or until the cerclage comes out. Looks like next visit may be our last though. BALLS. I really like that guy.
  • @hezzer78 i really like my MFM too.. in fact i need to ask at my next ultrasound on Monday what happens after 24 weeks bc he originally said i would only do the biweekly cervix checks until 24 weeks and i never thought to ask beyond that bc i didn't think i would get that far... but that's only like two appointments away now  :#

  • @harleyquinn0621 my MFM also said they don't do cervix checks after 24 weeks- seemed strange to me, I feel like it should still be checked. I am still seeing them to check the placenta position though.
  • @harleyquinn0621 @hopeful91 mine stop then as well, I’ve gone one more left. I just assumed they stopped then since that’s the point of viability, but it’s be nice to still get a few more of them after that just for reassurance.
  • My weekly countdown! Only one refill of four left!
