Hi Ladies, I changed it up this week to see if this made more sense for everyone. We can try a month long fitness thread. Questions: What are your fitness goals this month? Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie?
What are your fitness goals this month? I want to get back to daily pushups while I can still do them, and maybe convince myself to go to the gym for AM yoga and/or Pilates.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie? Definitely a book person! My favorite book is Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. Right now I’m reading Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. Plus baby books of course, I’m also re-reading Jillian Micheals’ Yeah Baby, and Genevieve Howland’s The Mama Natural’s week-by-week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth. Fun fact -I don’t initiate TV watching- DH has to convince me after dinner to watch Netflix

Fitness goals this month: keep running and/or increase mileage a bit as it warms up.
Books/TV/Movies: I like books and TV, I'm not as into movies. I'm waiting anxiously for the next Game Of Thrones book to come out. I may have to re-read the first ones in the meantime so that I remember everything that's going on. As far as TV goes, I (obviously) adore P&R. I also enjoy Criminal Minds and The Office. I have no idea what I'm going to do when I'm done with Criminal Minds on Netflix.
What are your fitness goals? To just keep exercising everyday (treadmill and abs, butt & arms). I want to say that I’d be happy if I just do anything, but that’s not true- I want to be able to keep up my “usual.” I worked so hard to get to this stamina. Books/Movies/TV All a little bit. I’m loving Amazon Prime reading. I love to watch 24 when I run. I’d also love to watch anything I like, but it’s usually a kids show that is on. Movies- I’m not a movie theater person, but I do like to re-watch movies I’ve already seen. The Bourne Identity movies are my favorite. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to watch one!
Books/Movies/TV? I go in waves. I get on a kick where I just read books, or just watch mindless tv shows, or just watch movies. It really depends on my mood. Lately, I'm obsessed with watching the office.
Fitness Goals: Keep on at least walking every day, get back to doing interval running or the C25K plan I abandoned while in Vegas this past week.
Books/TV/Movies: All three! I'm doing BookRiot's Read Harder challenge as a means of keeping me reading, since time is a bit of an issue with a toddler. Just finishing Obsidio. I also loved reading Olive Kitteridge and Year of the Flood. I'm not sure what I want to dive into next!
I also have a ton of TV series I feel like I need to watch, and I figured out that I can balance the TV and books by binging one season and then following it with a book. Right now I'm in Season 8 of The Office, and I'll probably watch Parks and Rec next.
H and I love watching movies on the weekends. We're just finishing our X-Men-watching quest, but we're also trying to watch all the Oscar nominees we missed out on last year. Lady Bird was a big favorite from that.

What are your fitness goals this month? To keep going! I'm so tried lately that working out is the last thing on my mind. I would like to do some cardio at least a few times a week.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie? I love books and TV. I like movies too but they are not my go-to. My taste is similar to that of a teenage girl, like right now my guilty pleasure show is Teen Mom OG. I also just started reading Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham
What are your fitness goals this month? I want to finish Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred (currently on part 2) and move onto the 30 Day Shred before I start getting getting a belly and my balance is thrown off.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie?
I love to read. I just finished Dreamland about the opiate crisis. It was very interesting and recommend it highly. As for TV, the only shows I really watch are This is Us and Big Bang Theory. Also, it's baseball season finally so I will be watching a lot of Detroit Tigers games.
What are your fitness goals this month? I'm going to write the following schedule on a calendar and then I hope to, you know, DO it. (I've been great with the walks, not great with anything else.) I'm pretty out of shape and my pregnancy is high risk, so I'm keeping things pretty chill, but active. Every day: walk 30-45 minutes (usually 45.) T-Th-Sa: at home strength training As often as possible: fast walk intervals/hills on treadmill (probably 1-2 times a week) Every day: enter everything I'm eating into My Fitness Pal.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie? All, I guess? But rarely, since I have very, very little free time with my long hours and work, taking care of my DD and the writing projects I work on in my free time. But, when I read I like comedy or historical nonfiction, with some sci-fi/fantasy mixed in. (I'd love to get more into that, if anyone has any recs!) TV wise, my favorite show of all time is 30 Rock and I've probably watched it a million times. Currently, I like the Good Place, Veep, Good News and I miss Game of Thrones dearly and can't wait for it to come back. I'm about to try out Silicon Valley and Insecure. Movie wise, I am waaaay behind. I haven't seen a movie in the theater since my daughter was born and she's 2, so...I need to get caught up. I did just watch a fascinating documentary on Netflix called Icarus, if anyone's looking for something new and interesting. It starts off about the bicycle racing world and doping and goes in a really, really crazy direction after that and gets into the world of Russian Olympic athlete doping. It's nuts.
@maureenmce Gahhhh 30 Rock! One of the shows H and I started but never finished. I really need to pick it up again. I remember watching the first episode when it initially aired and not finding it funny, but as an adult it's absolutely hilarious. Also Icarus is great! So crazy.

@PensiveCrayon Oh I'm so excited for you that you get to watch 30 Rock all the way through for the first time! Oh I love it so. Also, yes, Icarus is nuts. My husband and I didn't know anything about it going in and were like wait, WHAT is happening??
How was everyone’s weekend? I hurt my heel and haven’t been able to run. It feels like a terrible bruise, so I’m hoping that’s it. I didn’t do anything- just at the park with my boys, but wearing Toms, so not too supportive. It feels better to have tennis shoes on, so I try to put them ion immediately when I wake up. Anyway I exercise every day, but I haven’t been able to in days, which is driving me crazy.
What are your fitness goals this month? I've been so exhausted the past two weeks, that I really just want to get back into everything! Running on the elliptical 3x per week and yoga 3x per week! That's what I was doing before I got my BFP.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie? I like them all in different ways, but mostly a book person! My favorite book series is the Tea Rose trilogy by Jennifer Donnelly - all three books are wonderful and focus on strong, independent female lead characters!

@Activebaby Sorry about your injury! Foot injuries are the worst, because there's just not much you can do, exercise wise, until you're better. Hope you're on the mend soon.
AFM, I've been doing great with walking 30-45 min every day and I did my at home strength training on Saturday. Need to make sure I do it 3x this week. I'd also love to add some hill walking intervals on the treadmill this week at least 1-2x. Mostly I know the real truth is I need to keep a close watch on my diet if I don't want to gain excessively this pregnancy! Trying to get in the habit of entering everything in my fitness pal daily, to keep myself in check (and to monitor nutrients, which is great.)
@maureenmce I love my fitness pal! I mainly use it to keep me accountable when eating. I'm a lot less likely to eat something bad (a.k.a. extra delicious!) if I know I have to put it in my fitness pal and see the calories and stuff it adds!

@mag1cbeli3ver Yes, it's great! (Also, this just reminded me to enter my food for the day AND that I need to do my at home strength training tonight! Woo!)
I've been tracking my food as well. I've set my calories to still lose weight. I know that's controversial, but I'm overweight and gained so much last pregnancy, I'm really trying to do better.
This weekend was rough for me diet-wise because I wanted ALL OF THE THINGS and hadn’t gone shopping post-vacation. But I’m back on track today, for the most part. Have a meal plan and everything!
I haven’t been exercising like I usually do either, just because life and appointments. But as soon as the babe is up from his nap we’ll be going out on our usual afternoon walk!

What are your fitness goals this month? just to keep moving! I really hope to continue working out for as long as I possibly can! So far, I’ve been keeping up with working out 3-4 days a week (HIIT and crosssfit). Im happy with that. I do need to reel my diet in- I’ve been going carb crazy.oops.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie?
I kind of bounce back and forth! I love reading but I just don’t have much time or energy lately... I’ve been reading “Girl Wash Your Face” and I LOVE it! My favorite TV show is probably The Office! Favorite movie is probably Garden State!
My heel is starting to improve. I plan to try and run this afternoon. It was so weird it felt like a bad bruise, and so maybe that’s wxactly what it was?
I'd like to go to yoga or another gym class 3-4 times per week. So far I've been averaging closer to 2. I'm really busy with school work and have a choral concert coming up, so I haven't had a lot of time (or energy). Up until Monday I have been riding my bike about 30 minutes 3-4 times a week, but I think i'm going to stop that because I'm afraid it's causing spotting.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie?
I'm a books person, but I like all three. My favorite book is probably Catch 22 and I also love Hitchhiker's Guide. Right now I am reading Truevine (nonfiction) and The State of Affairs (also nonfiction). I recently tried to lighten things up with some sci-fi and accidentally read The Stars are Legion, which has a lot of super weird pregnancy stuff in it. The world consists only of women and they all give birth to whatever the world needs, which is sometimes very weird stuff. Definitely was not a good read in early pregnancy. I also like tv sometimes -- 30 Rock is great, Community, Parks & Rec. I'm more into comedies I guess. I also have an attachment to Gilmore Girls. Recently my husband and I have been watching 8 out of 10 Cats Plays Countdown, this British game show. It's on Youtube. We recently got Moviepass so we've been going to the movies more too. I'll stop rambling now.
My fitness goals are to continue doing body pump twice a week throughout my pregnancy and eat relatively healthy. I did this with my last pregnancy and was below my pre pregnancy weight in no time (also thanks to breastfeeding lol).
@ebk20 I’m also a fellow body pump lover! I was doing it 2-3 times a week but with being overly fatigued I’m trying to not overdue it. Is this something you found challenging your last pregnancy? I really want to keep it up along with some other workouts but don’t want to completely exhaust myself either. Any thoughts or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated!
@ebk20 and @cobbbebe I used to like bodyflow (I think that was the name, with tai chi). Is that still around? I don’t go to a gym anymore, I run at home, so I don’t have the group class option. @morgantu I’d say walking to brunch counts! Basically anything counts when you feel like doing nothing.
I usually alternate running and lifting four days a week, then try to do something active like a hike on the weekend. My goal is to keep up with my normal workout schedule, although I’m prepared to slow my pace/lift lighter if it seems too strenuous. My doctor said I can continue with my normal workouts as long as it feels ok, so that’s the plan for now. I’m also trying to eat less sugar, which is going pretty well this week as the sweet stuff is not appetizing at all.
Are you a books,Tv, or movie person & what is your favorite book/show/movie?
All of the above. I’m a reader and I love me some TV. Picking a favorite would be very difficult. I mostly read fiction, crime novels are a favorite and I like to veg out with trashy reality TV like teen mom when I’m stressed. I like movies as well, but I hate the theatre. We watched Gifted with Chris Evans last night and I was bawling. My BF was like, “What is wrong with you?”
@Activebaby It's definitely tough the first trimester to do any type of physical activity but do as much as you can so you don't get too out of shape. The second trimester is easier to exercise and then the third goes back to being tough again lol. Make sure after your first trimester that you add another riser to your head side to stay inclined so you are not lying flat on your back doing the exercises. I have been pretty consistent with the classes so I will probably keep the same weight my whole pregnancy or lessen the weight towards the end. I definitely won't be increasing my weight in the next 9 months. Hope that helps ☺
@kadeephd I love love love Gilmore Girls! I am dying for them to do another reboot!
So my doctor told me no exercise until 2 weeks after my spotting has stopped, so I'm on the bench for now. The problem is I'm entirely too happy about this, I really don't feel like doing anything and now that I have a medical reason not too I don't feel the slightest bit guilty about it. I feel like it's going to be that much tougher to get back into a routine once I'm given the all clear.
@gracie4400 me too! And about being benched for a bit.. why not enjoy your break? I already feel like being pregnant has taught me to be kinder to myself and my body. This is exhausting, physically and emotionally, and it's OK to take it easy. Also, I love you profile pic. Me too.
Same, @texas_t. I feel like I’d be even more exhausted if I weren’t going for regular runs. They’re also the only time during the day that my stomach isn’t churning, so that’s nice too.
I was able to run for 35 minutes. The pace was slow and I only made it 3.25 miles, but I did it. I did an ab workout afterwards and it wasn’t my best. I’m going to try to run again today.
I am a fitness instructor so I am a little bit concerned about exercising. My doctor told me I can't go above 150, which I have gone way above that before in my classes. I am going to wear my heart rate monitor and try my best. So far so good!
