  • The magical random switch has flipped and I've started to have blood sugar drops. It happened with my first pregnancy, too. I had a bagel for breakfast (super carbs) and then an hour later I started feeling shaky and weak. Checked my sugar and it was 63! Luckily I have some left over Easter chocolate that I've been keeping in my purse just for that reason.

    @mockingjay1 thats amazing!

@middleschoolmommy ugh low blood sugar is the worst feeling in the world! I always over do it trying to get it to rise asap then end up with the opposite problem  :s
  • @middleschoolmommy I’m there too. First trimester I always have to lower my insulin pump basal rates and raise my carb to insulin ratio. I’ve been going low about three times a day and it’s driving me crazy. (I’m almost at 9 weeks) Fortunately I haven’t had the nighttime lows yet, those are the worst.

I remind myself to enjoy a bit of using less insulin, as I have to take 3x my normal amount by the end! With my second pregnancy, I could never catch up with where my rates should be and I ended up with a 9.5 lb “premmie” (at 35 weeks) it’s a wild ride...

@troystory17 yup... then over-treat the high, and the roller coaster continues.
  • @bqtmom25 you have to type out the whole thing with the colon on each side. If you type a colon and then a letter, a list should pop up on mobile to show you options. So you’d type :cookie*:   But take the * out of that.

FYI this also shows more faces on the web version too if you hit the colon and then type something.:star::unamused::smirk::mrgreen: (just a few I didn't know we could do) I'm probably more entertained by this than I should be :joy:

  • @prairiemomma82 I also hate the middle of the night drops. I'm terrified of NOT waking up in time to get some sugar in me. I've been keeping one of DS's apple juice boxes on my night stand.

I remember having to really ramp up my insulin dosage at the beginning of 3rd trimester. DS decided to come early at 29 weeks. He was 3lbs 2oz, which was the 96th percentile for his gestational age. I'm praying for a full term pregnancy this time, but also terrified of a huge baby.

  • @middleschoolmommy are you on alot of insulin? last pregnancy all along they told me I'd have a csection at 39 weeks so she didn't get too big and then they almost took her at 38 for being too small she was in the 3rd percentile.  Diabetes drives me insane.
  • @troystory17 Currently I'm on 20 units of a once daily and then 15-20 units of Novalog with meals. My OB said my cut-off will be 38 weeks, but she didn't say if it would be c-section or if they would try to induce labor. I'm hoping to make it that far this time!
With my DS, I was only given the meal time insulin and I was up to 75 units with each meal by 28 weeks. =\ really hoping to avoid using that much this time.

  • yeah I'm trying to stay as low as possible I was up to 30 units 5 times a day with DS and I gained so much weight  :s I had gastric bypass in between my DS & DD that's the only reason I was able to stay so low with her.  Fingers crossed we both can stay relatively low only 30ish more weeks!
  • Ive been trying to be involved with this board as often as possible. Im always anxious that no matter how much I post, no one will recognize me. I felt the same way on the J14 board. I know it's dumb but cant help thinking that way

  • I’m getting a cold :( I’m all achy and my head and throat hurt. I didn’t get sick all flu season when I wasn’t pregnant and now that I am pregnant, I get cold after cold. Wtf body.

  • @middleschoolmommy that’s probably because the catfish had all of the spare time to be super active on the board...hopefully no catfish in this group but only time will tell

@linz36 I sure hope it doesn't happen this time around. That revelation killed the board!

  • @linz36 @middleschoolmommy I don't like that you guys feel/felt the same, but I'm glad I'm not alone! I'm part of the bigger J14 fb group and we haven't had any catfish issues so all things crossed we don't have that here

  • @pink_polkadots thank you! I guess I just thought that was part of the * to get it to not turn in the example.  I feel like 100 years old and like I have no idea what I'm  doing on the compyter/phone right now.

You may have helped me tag people too. Fx that works.  Now I just have to figure out my profile picture.
  • @CanadianGamerMom I definitely feel the same way too! There has been a few things I posted on threads that got no response at all and it kind of makes you feel invisible  Especially yesterday when I was having a very hard day. It is one reason I love/hate the ways the boards are set up. It definitely keeps the boards clearer and eliminates drive-bys but sometimes people's post don't get seen when they really need support.
  • @middleschoolmommy I have wanted to bang out sick this week but have to keep telling myself the same thing, that I need all the sick time I can get for when baby comes! I hope you are able to get a long weekend to relax.

  • I’m new to the board and I’m just kind of observing at this point and trying to familiarize myself with everything. I hope it’s not a problem if I don’t post or comment too much. I’m just trying to be apart of a group with people going through the same experiences as myself but I feel a little intimidated and worried about “rules”. I guess I just want reassurance that whatever my level of participation, or how simple that I’ll still be able to remain in the BMB. Not trying to be needy lol, just want to make sure I’m in the right place.

@middleschoolmommy Ugh I'm sorry you're not feeling well today.  Sounds like a lot of us are in the MS + cold boat and it SUCKS!  *hugs* I HATE when mh says "just call in" I completely understand not being able to just not go to work for the day.  I hope you'll be able to set up a sub so you can work on feeling better soon!

@CandyM305 it's not like there's a BMB police that's gonna kick you out for not participating ;) you can join in when/where you feel comfortable.  It takes a little getting used to the format, but it's really not that intimidating.  To everyone worried about the "rules", seriously, just read the sticked posts and try to follow along.  If you make a mistake and someone calls you out on it, just apologize and learn from it.  It's not like people are out to torment you for doing something wrong.  It's when people get defensive about it and try to justify themselves that causes the drama and then the snark comes out.  Just laugh and move on.

@offtoneverland I’ll tell you what, you hit the nail on the head, at least for me, with the ticker changes and even some of the other check ins. I’m so tired and feel like poo all day. The thought of having to copy and paste and answer all these questions just seems exhausting. On last weeks ticker change for me, I even said, “I go here, but I’m too tired to even think to answer all these questions. No motivation. Whatsoever.

@middleschoolmommy ugh I’m sorry you don’t feel well! I’m in that boat too. I’ve had a nasty head cold/cough since Monday. And now DD has it. And we were just sick like a month ago. I need some nice weather so we can get some fresh air up in this house!

  • Thanks! Makes me feel better lol
  • I'm going crazy over here.  I've got a tiny, painful cyst in my elbow and I'm guessing it's pressing on a nerve because half my hand (pinky and ring finger and that half of the palm) keeps going numb.

I know I need to see my doctor and that she's probably going to send me to an orthopedist, but I'm afraid it's going to require surgery to fix, which is the last thing I want while I'm pregnant. :disappointed:
