  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 22 weeks: Coconut

Age(s) of other kid(s)? DS is soooo close to 2 and acting like it.

How are you feeling??? Sore, same as always. BUT I have more energy to push through and not be a total bump on a log.

Rants/Raves: DS’s tantrums used to be really short. Not anymore, and it’s usually because we’re moving on from an activity when he wants to keep doing it. Last night he didn’t want to stop playing with sidewalk chalk, but I had to go in and eat dinner ready. Wow, he was throwing a fit off and on for a good 30 minutes at least. Hello, 2.

This is still such a fun age. Going from 1-2 has been way more fun than going
from 0-1. Babies are cute, but kinda boring. DS is stacking blocks like a pro, saying his letters, pointing out all of the food in the grocery store, jumping, etc. It’s crazy. This time last year he could walk and barely said anything at all.

Questions: Do you use bug spray on your littles or something a little less harsh?

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? Quesadillas. He’s been on that for a while now.

  • @lalala2004 I’ve used bug spray on DS since he was about 5mo. My area is infested with ticks, and I’d rather not have DS get Lyme disease. The CDC says bug sprays with DEET can be used from 2mo.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby?
    22 weeks

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    DD is about 15 months

    How are you feeling???
Large and in charge and pretty uncomfortable already.

    Rants/Raves
I'm back to my daily regimen of Pepcid.  I was trying to get by with just tums but it's not cutting it.  Heartburn sucks.  I know it's just an OWT but DD was super hairy and I fully expect this babe will be too.

    Questions
No questions here but @lalala2004 we have the Babyganics bug spray. I never needed to use it last summer, but I fully intend to this year.  I'm guessing it's not super effective though, but we'll see.  I actually don't know how we managed to not use it last year in Michigan.  Managed to make it inside before nightfall? That probably says a lot about how lame I am!

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
Cheese. It's basically the only thing she will consistently eat.  She'd eat a whole block if we let her.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 24 weeks

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?: 22 months

    How are you feeling??? Great!

Rants/Raves Just always so, so busy at work. I wish I had more time for work, but that comes at a cost to hanging out with DS, so for now, I trade work stress for quality time with DS.

    Questions: Not really.

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? Yogurt mixed with peanut butter has been a big win for us for breakfast lately.

DH hass been away since Sunday morning and not to toot my own horn but I have been crushing the whole gig.

@ecwk: Nice! I have to admit I like it when DH travels as I revel in the alone time. It took me awhile to figure out the formula for making it easier on myself, but I think I've got a system down. Hope the good vibes continue!

Thanks girl! I actually feel like my house is in better order than when he is here. Maybe because instead of hanging with im in the evening I am getting stuff done. He gets back tonight so we shall see!!

  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 21+5

Age(s) of other kid(s)? DS is 19 months and DSS is 13 going on 35

How are you feeling??? Pretty good! My nausea has been popping up here and there which is weird and the RLP lets me know when I'm overdoing things. But other than that pretty ok.

Rants/Raves All the raves because DS has been such a cuddle bug lately! I'm absolutely loving it! And feeling daily kicks now is so good. DSS is about to start swim club and wants to learn to play the guitar so it's awesome to see him spreading his wings a bit and trying new things!

Questions: adding on to @lalala2004's question about bug spray (and following responses to that like crazy!) what sunscreen do you use? DS has the most sensitive skin on the planet and has eczema so I'm super cautious about what I put on his skin. Last year he was still little enough that we could somewhat contain him in the shade or we would use the Aveeno lotion when he was in the pool but I think this year we will be spending approximately 4762049 hours outside playing.

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? DS is a good eater so there's not much anymore that gets thrown or fed to the dog. He loves mini bagels and I made banana bread last weekend that he demolished lol! DSS will eat just about anything if it's even remotely edible. I used to joke that he'll eat us out of house and home but he actually is  :o

    @mrsbubbles-2
I have been experincing morning nausea too, it sucks!!

I used this sunscreen on DS when we went to Florida. He has sensitive enough skin including some patches of eczema that flare up from time to time. He had no negative reaction to it and I slathered it on him. I am terrified of him getting burnt!

  • @lalala2004 I think we used bug spray occasionally on DS last summer. I think we used a more mild type on him than we normally use (I tend to use the deep woods stuff  on myself because mosquitos love me too much).
  • @juliebird6 oh, we use Babyganics sunscreen, too, I’ll have to check it out. my pedi office is a bit crunchy and
i bet they might sell one, too. I was thinking about this last night because we were outside for a bit and I think he may have gotten a few bites. We’ll probably be outside more this summer and since he’s walking now I feel like he’s more exposed!

@mrsbubbles-2 I Also always keep a hat on DS when we’re in the sun a lot, and he wears a full rash guard and waterproof hat in the pool. He hasn’t been burned yet, thankfully! We’re all red-heads, so I try to be vigilant!

  • @lalala2004 - yes yes yes to the hat and rash guard! He wouldn't keep the hat on last year but with the endless winter we've made progress with keeping the hat on lol! So I guess that's one silver lining that came from this crappy winter!
Thanks for all the recommendations, ladies! He's such an outside kid that I want to have an arsenal ready!

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?

    How are you feeling???
Alright, think the acupuncture I had Monday is helping a little.

    Rants/Raves
    Nothing new LOL

    Questions
    No

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
He would happily eat pizza (like his dad) or tacos every night if I let him LOL
  • @mrsbubbles-2 we've used babyganics or blue lizard. Pedi told us to stick with something mechanical opposed to chemical if we could.

How far along are you? What size is baby?
    21 +2. Endive

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    3 in June!

    How are you feeling???
Pretty great since kicks have been happening regularly.

    Rants/Raves
DD has been having major difficulty listening and learning about cause and effect. Meltdowns have increased. We are just living one day at a time. I'm dreading her turning 3, cuz everyone says it's worse than two.
On the flip side, she's been incredibly sweet and cuddly with me.

    Questions
    Nothing I can think of.

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? Shrimp, salmon, steak, brussel sprouts, salad, and orange cheese are big hits right now. And of course quesadillas, pasta, rice, things like that are always hits.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 we use Babyganics. DS doesn’t have super sensitive skin, but one of the other toddlers at daycare does and has no issues with it.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby?
    24 weeks, cantaloupe

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    4 and 1

    How are you feeling???
Pretty good, carrying DS is starting to leave me out of breath so I’ve cut back on carrying him for more than a few mins unless I have to and he isn’t happy with that lol.

    Rants/Raves
Still looking for a new place and we’re moving in June. Location is a huge factor for DH’s job and it’s so limiting, time is ticking and I’m stressing big time.

    Questions
    Nope

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
DD is sooo picky and barely eats anything, and DS eats anything I give him.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 22 weeks, coconut (although DS is measuring ahead)

    Age(s) of other kid(s)? 2 next month

How are you feeling??? Better! I’ve had a few nights of almost uninterrupted sleep this week!

    Rants/Raves None at the moment

Questions DS is still obsessed with his glider. I’m debating whether we should suck it up and buy a second one, or whether he’ll be ready to move on in a few months. Any advice on how to decide?

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? Filled pasta, berries, pancakes
  • How far along are you? What size is baby?
22 +3- baby is the size of a nalgine water bottle

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    18 months

    How are you feeling???
Getting better, slowly. Diagnosed with "flu" like virus last week. Tamiflu is amazing and really helped. Still have a bad cough, but it's slowly getting better.

    Rants/Raves
Our son has been a bit sick so he's extra cuddly. He didn't want to sleep from 3am-530am. When he did finally fall asleep, his head was resting on my stomach and it was so sweet. I still woke him up half an hour later to get ready, but those 30 mins were adorable.

    Questions

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
Pizza. He literally screams it if anyone says it. He gets so excited if he sees a pizza box.

@lalala2004 we spent a lot of time outdoors and we use Duluth Trading Insect Repellent. You spray it on your clots then let it dry. It's good for up to 6 washes and really does a great job of protecting our entire family. It's safe for kids too. I've never noticed a smell either. There are other brands on the market, but you'll want one with Permethrin in it.

  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 23w tomorrow which will be a grapefruit! Ruby red for my ruby <3
funny story the other day I was complaining to my sister that I keep thinking I’m further along than I am, I said ‘I feel like I should be 23 weeks but I’m only 21’ she was like wtf are you talking about, you’ll be 23 in like 2 days (she’s due a week before me so she knows). Sheesh!

Age(s) of other kid(s)? My oldest turned 7 Saturday! Then 5 and almost 3 (June)

How are you feeling??? TIRED. So tired I want to cry at times, or throw up, or just curl up in a ball and die. So much for 2nd tri energy this time.

Rants/Raves mostly the tiredness. It’s kinda frustrating tbh

    Questions

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
my guys are good eaters... they love lots of stuff, bfast waffles, out meal, bagels, eggs, lunch pbj or ham, yogurt, fav dinners are Tortilla soup, breaded chicken thighs, pizza, most any meat, fish, shrimp

  • Sunscreen: my oldest is very sensitive and had horrible raspy skin as a baby and toddler. I once accidentally used a different sunscreen on him when he was 5 and had to keep him home bc he looked like he had scarlet fever or something till I figured out what it was.

So so I use neutrogena pure and free baby (white and pink bottle). I like it bc it’s a physical blocker, and has a higher spf (well aware of the negative opinion the lists have on that topic but I’m fair and dh and I both burn through 30).

I dont bother trying snything new bc its not worth the cost and risk.

Fwiw usually aveeno is good for excemA but it made Henry break out badly so you may need to try and see what works on your own child.

@proudparent2b DS1 was the same way with his glider. In fact, he still is. We ended up buying one for DS2 at Walmart for around $100 and it’s comfortable and has held up really well. We still sit with DS1 in his chair every night and read books. He’s 4. Now, with number three coming, one of them has to give up his chair. I think I’ll put a teepee in DS1’s room and we’ll crawl in there to read...? Not as comfortable, for sure. Or maybe we can get him used to reading in his bed.

  • How far along are you? What size is baby? 19+6, size of a mango

Age(s) of other kid(s)? DS will be 3 next month (and it's terrifying I can say that now!)

How are you feeling??? I'm good - back is sore, but trying to keep up with stretching and I got a massage on Monday which was glorious!

Rants/Raves: Raves - DS has had a great week at school! We've been having issues with him climbing on tables and using his listening ears, but they started an incentive program since it is an issue throughout his class. (Apparently there are a few kids who are the main culprits and a lot of others just follow suit, including DS). There is now a sticker chart, so when we pick him up he has to show us the chart and if he still has his sticker. If he does, he gets to pick something from the prize bag, if he doesn't, he gets no reward. It has been a week and I think it is really helping! He got SO excited last night he had his sticker the first thing he said when I walkd into his classroom was "Momma I didn't climb any tables today!!"

    Questions: None right now!

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? My child will literally eat any and everything. He has a huge appetite and there are times he eats as much as I do in one sitting. His favorite right now - banana chips. They are actually the sweet plantain chips from Trader Joe's, but we call them banana chips. They are his go to before bedtime snack and I buy multiple bags a week!

  • Bug spray - I used it a few times on DS last year and we had the Babyganics brand. He never got any bites, but I'm really not sure how effective it is. I think this summer we're going to have to start using the stronger stuff on him. Being in Michigan the mosquitoes can get bad, so I'd rather be safe!
Sunscreen - DS has sensitive skin, so generic brands do not work for him as they make him all red, especially on his face. We have stuck to Babyganics or Honest brand the past few years. The end of last summer I got Arbonne brand for him, which is all natural, too, and I think it has worked really well.

  • @juliebird6 I am with you on needing the daily meds again! Mine is more acid reflux than heartburn, but it is NO FUN! I know part of it is eating crap, but even when I eat healthy it can flare up. Zantac worked really well for me last time so I told DH that I was going to the store at lunch today to get some!

  • Re: bug spray. I like Picaridin. It’s a product that is based off of a compound found in black pepper, so it’s closer to “natural” and has been proven in studies to be as effective as DEET. It’s all the rage in the New England hiking community. We don’t mess around with ticks here! The product I use is called Natrapel with 20% picaridin. DEET also has the nasty problem of dissolving plastics and synthetic fabrics which is another downside.

Re: sunscreen. We use Blue Lizard Baby. DS is very, very fair and has sensitive skin and eczema. We’ve had no problems with it. I use it too - it’s become the default family sunscreen and I buy gallons of it.

  • Just here to answer questions. Sorry if they have been thoroughly discussed.

@lalala2004 we use bug spray that is a little more natural. I've used Badger with good results as well as Herbal Armor.

@mrsbubbles-2 we use Badger sunscreen. It is soooo zinc-y and super thick but works wonderfully.

How far along are you? What size is baby?
24 weeks. Not sure about size.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
    3 in 2 months-yikes!

    How are you feeling???
I think I got a head cold from DS and I’ve got a raging sinus headache today.

    Rants/Raves
DS has started crying for 30 minutes straight after nap and going back and forth between telling me to leave and crying “Mommy mommy.” I think he’s just groggy but it’s awful and driving me nuts

    Questions

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? If I ask my son what he wants, he’ll say eggs, pancakes, or salmon. Last night for dinner, he ate 7 giant asparagus Spears, 2 servings of salmon, a string cheese, and two mini carrot muffins. He’s a great eater and not picky at all.

@lalala2004 I use babyganics too. I did buy a family off that I may start using on both of us because my doctor told me I need to use deet & freaked me out about Zika. So I got it for myself.

@redheadbride15 one of the sprays I got has the stuff you mentioned and I wasn’t sure it was pregnancy safe because I’d never heard about it so thanks for sharing!
  • @amac12999 I've definitely used picaradin during pregnancy (not this one yet because we haven't hit bug season, but during my first for sure). Of course there are no controlled studies showing it's safe, but I figure something that's in black pepper is unlikely to be super-toxic. I still wouldn't use it on my face and wash hands after using.

    Age(s) of other kid(s)?
DS1 is 22 months. There are a lot of almost-2-year-olds in this group! I assure you that mine is also very much acting like an almost-2-year-old...

    How are you feeling???
I feel good physically unless I'm trying to sleep. I don't remember tossing and turning so much so early on in my first pregnancy. At night I feel a bit like I did when I was 36+ weeks last time. I'd invest in a pregnancy pillow but I think we need a new bed first. We're still sleeping in a full - there's not much room for a growing bump.

    Rants/Raves
My rave is that I officially told work about my pregnancy today, which felt good to get over-and-done-with because I HATE telling people. I was dreading the task, not because I was worried what people would say/think (everyone was very congratulatory), but because I'm a very private type of person. This means I can actually start wearing some maternity clothes instead of the handful of billowy blouses that are still hiding my little bump.

Questions: I'm in the market for a baby doll for DS and I'm having trouble finding one that is realistic but not creepy and is not pink or purple. Even the "blue" versions are usually baby blue with flowers and ruffles, etc. I also don't want it to pee in a diaper or have a "baby fresh" smell. Any suggestions? Why can't doll manufacturers make dolls for boys?!? Maybe I'm being too picky.

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now? DS is a weird toddler who loves things like black olives, spicy pepperoni, and extra sharp cheese. However, his biggest obsession right now is pistachios ("STACK-IOS!").

Age(s) of other kid(s)? DS is 16.5m ish

How are you feeling? Mostly fine. Some stabbing in the tailbone pain as the day wears on.

    Rants/Raves
Edited cause I thought of a rant: DS has wide feet and it's become the bain of my existence trying to find some sandals that are comfortable for him that he can walk in that fit his chunky feet.  Everything is online order online so it's a lot of trial and order and returning.  And it's making me grumpy.

    Questions

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?  We're doing a picky eating thing the last couple weeks.  Breakfast is fine, he'll eat anything.  Lunch is equally cool.  Dinner is a gamble.  Best chances are pizza or ravioli so I've taken to making my own and stuffing them with meat & veggies so he at least gets a few food groups in there.  Last night he ate yogurt and ritz bitz peanut butter crackers.  sigh.

My boss lets me go to my appointments while I am at work and pays me for the time I am in the appointment.(I drive around in a truck all day) I am so thankful that my boss is so excited about my pregnancy.

    Questions
After my a/s on Tuesday my doctor called me to reschedule my next appointment from next Wednesday to this Friday. I am very worried that there was something found in my ultrasound. Why would they reschedule?

GTKY: What is your kid/s favorite food right now?
    No other kids.
  • @livinthesunnylife try Keen baby/toddler shoes. My DS has extra wide feet (not a surprise as both of his parents do too) and they’re now all that I buy. The Keen sandals are particularly cute!

@redheadbride15 try corelle brand dolls - that’s what I have for my boys
I noticed that these are advertised as having a “scent of vanilla” which seems off-putting to me. Did you notice this? If it’s very faint and wears off quickly then I don’t care, but I’m sort of weirded out that a doll would need to be scented. They have some cute models though!
