@Austenista I definitely believe our tech is "listening" to us. I was at the grocery store on Sunday, and i was talking about Hot Pockets and how they weren't on sale. That afternoon, I had an instagram add sponsored by Hot Pockets. Then, while we were on vacation we had a running Titanic joke (DH has never seen it), and that night there was a sponsored TITANIC ARTICLE on facebook. Big Brother.
+1 to wanting wine. It is legit a craving at this point.
Me: 28 | Husband: 39 Married March 2016 DD: born 7.22.16 DS EDD: 6.23.18
Mmmmm rosé. We have a bottle ready too to enjoy after baby is here. Our friends brought it to us since it's the same deal where the rosé sells out pretty fast. I'm already envisioning drinking it on my birthday (July 3, please don't be late baby) with some sushi. The last time I had it was at a friend's wedding at that winery in October... 3 days before my BFP. So I guess this baby has already had a taste of it
MH and I did wine bottles instead of a traditional guest book at our wedding. We put tags on them for 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10 year anniversaries, then guests signed the bottles. Our three year bottle is this amazing chardonnay. We pulled it out on our anniversary to read the signatures. I'm counting down until these babies come to crack it open!
@sunshineandwhiskey oh it is, for sure. I just bought a new minivan that has Apple Carplay w/ Siri integrated. I was talking to DH about how our mail lady has a red Jeep Wrangler and how it seems like a lot of people around us drive them (they do, man, they're everywhere). We pointed them out, "there's another one," all day when we were running errands. I've gotten so many Jeep Wrangler ads on Facebook and other places since then it's ridiculous. It happened to me another time with Halo Top ice cream. My dad and I were talking about it and I hung up the phone and ads for it started popping up everywhere.
@elsie42 got my bfp on Sunday oct 1. The Friday before i was at red lobster drinking daiquiris eating unlimited shrimp. Mine has had his fair taste as well
@doxiemoxie212 I can take some of that rose off your hands for you. You don't need to worry about storing. I'll even meet you somewhere convenient to do the exchange!
I'm a June 1 EDD. While DS came on his due date, I'm expecting this one to come early. Statistics show that I have 5.5-9.5 weeks left. That's crazy. I am so ready for this hip pain to go away but not so ready for the BFing struggles and sleep deprivation. Not to mention my to do list still has 30+ items on it!
I've never been wine fan, and neither has DH but of course as soon as I get pregnant he finds some that he likes. I tried it and I like it too so now I'm really excited for baby to come so I can have it and not feel guilty. I know you can have some, but the mom guilt I get is ridiculous so, I'm waiting.
@marcus7676 I’m June 3 and my OB said to me today, “5 weeks until term!” I think my eyeballs about popped out of my head. Technically I knew that, but to hear him say it was like OMG. Off to get serious about washing baby clothes while DD (hopefully) takes a nap.
I feel really lame that the last alcohol I consumed was two PBR tall boys (aside from some sips here and there). MH was out of town and I was 8dpo so I tested, inspected the test for the next two hours taking photos of it and editing and inverting them to try to see a line, convinced myself it was a BFN and drank the beer, it was all we had in the house. The next morning I tested again and it was a VVVFP.
I will have to make up for that with my first drink post delivery. I got some champs from my BFF's mom at the shower but it is a sweet one which I don't normally prefer. Although it might be refreshing.

All this talk of wine gets me wondering .... anyone debating on having someone bring certain things into the hospital that you haven't been able to eat during pregnancy?
@MissKittyDanger I mean, I just eat cheeses that are pasteurized. I guess maybe technically what I'm eating isn't brie if it's not FROM France? But as long as it's pasteurized, soft cheese is fine. But I also have never eaten the rind on brie, it weirds me out.
I’m spending this rainy day off from work sterilizing all my old pump and bottle parts and washing covers from car seat, rock and plays. Very boring!!!
@MissKittyDanger you can demand your guest bring you whatever foods you like. Hospital food is typically so bland... and most hospitals only provide food for you- so DH has to pick up food for himself anyway. I can't wait to send him out for breakfast, and get my egg extra dippy. If you are BFing the nurses will probably give you a hard time about drinking alcohol in the hospital, but everything else is back on the plate.
the rind of Brie also creeps me out, I'll eat it vs fight with the cheese to remove it, but I avoid it whenever I can.
I have been stockpiling all my bottles of wine from my wine club that I've accumulated over this pregnancy that have been just mocking me at home.
As for bringing stuff I haven't had in a while to the hospital, I haven't fully thought that one out yet. With DD I had GD so my hubby was under strict orders to make sure we had poptarts and donuts, but I passed my glucose test this time and haven't had any big cravings so I guess I'll just wait and see.
@jsl82 apparently the hospital we're going to, the food isn't that bad. But there is a coffee shop downstairs, so I'll likely either get my H to go there or see if in-laws wanna pick up food when they come visit {or BIL .... hmm}
I just can’t wait to eat seafood without restrictions. The only time during this pregnancy i ate all the seafood was valentine’s day we had crawfish, shrimp & crab. I want a big pot of boiled seafood (not at the hospital but when I get home)
I have been stockpiling all my bottles of wine from my wine club that I've accumulated over this pregnancy that have been just mocking me at home.
Apparently we're stockpiling wine also. There are 4 bottles on our counter that are mocking me as well. Friend of mine recently did a huge deal with a wine company with her fiance, and we got a couple bottles {they have like 25 more at home}
@MissKittyDanger the issue is the milk being unpasteurized, not the rind itself. The rind is just the mold the grew on the exterior of the cheese. My husband made cheese for a while so we had numerous rounds of camembert in our cabinets.
I brought champagne to the hospital last time and never opened it. I doubt I'll bring anything this time. My BIL did bring me a ham and cheese grinder after delivery, which is all I wanted during pregnancy. I may do that again.
My husband brought home a bottle of Veuve Cliquot yesterday and just left it on the counter. He told me he cleaned his desk and wanted to bring it home. Couldn't he have waited a few weeks?
@marcus7676 I knew there was a reason but I kept blanking and I remembered it had to do with the rind. Thanks for confirming what it was {side note; that's kinda neat your H made cheese for awhile!}
Last week I watched my H eat sushi. I told him if he didn't eat every damn bite I would shove it down his throat, then punch him. I miss sushi.
FFTC: I haven't really restricted any food during this pregnancy. I mean, we don't order sushi from the maybe sketchy place down the block anymore, but I've defs had raw fish/caviar from places I trusted. I also haven't stopped eating cheese or charcuterie. Maybe I'm playing with fire and I'll regret admitting this... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@LaceyBee522 - I too have sushi'd... maybe once a week/two weeks. The place I go is highly recommended, and all the fish is frozen before hand anyway. I have cut out the charcuterie and cold cuts. But cheese, I have had me some brie. Not good brie, but brie. All commercially prepared cheese.
All I really want is to have my old stomach back, as in my eating stomach. So many things just do not appeal this pregnancy. And I want Indian Food. And tomato based sauces. And to try the Bao place. And have room for a dumpling feast. And... and... this list goes on.
Mama to a wonderful DD - Sep 2015, Wife to my DH since 2011, 2 dogs, a cat, and hoping to add No. 2 in May/June 2018. Canadian. 5 - IUIs, 3 - IVF retrievals, 2- failed transfers (fresh, and frozen), PGS on second IVF resulted in 1 perfect emby, and DD. 3rd IVF w PGS resulted in 3! perfect embys. 1st transfer - Sep 2017 2 more on ice.
@LaceyBee522 I'm vegetarian so most of the food restrictions don't really apply, but if I did eat meat, I definitely wouldn't have restricted. Evidence seems to show you're way more likely to get lysteria from some weird, random, unpredictable thing (like ice cream or lettuce) than from sushi or whatever if it's from a reputable place. I still eat runny eggs. I drink a glass of wine occasionally if I want to with food. No guilt, no worries.
@rnielsen321 Charcuterie is a lifestyle in my house/with my friends. MH is Spanish, so not having jamon just would never work.
@doxiemoxie212 Oh, yeah - I've craved runny eggs like a mo-fo this pregnancy. I've made MH take me to diners on the weekend, just so I can dip the toast points into the yolks. I don't think I even realized that was technically a restriction. OH - and I've had ramen every Sunday with a poached egg in it.
@BurlapandLace hahahahahah yes I did see that, and I thought the same thing. But also there are 500+ apts in my building, so there would be A LOT of onlookers if that happened to me....
In other news, DH broke his foot or something in the 10 mile race Sunday. He just got back from the doctor with a giant boot on. So now we have me, the hobbling pregnant lady, and DH, the hobbling 29-year-old lawyer. My enthusiasm for this is zero.
I am a terrible pregnant lady. I eat all the things, sushi, sausage/deli meat, raw dough, runny eggs. I went snowmobiling for a weekend at 22 weeks. I take really hot baths and showers. I painted the closet in our master, the rec room and guest bedroom downstairs and the nursery. I might not help as much with the master bedroom this week because I'm just too big and I cant move.
IMHO, just do what feels right to you, same with parenting. If you feel more comfortable not having the sandwich meat, then don't but if you would kill for some Jimmy Johns (been there) then do it.

@doxiemoxie212 - ARGH! My sympathies to you! GAH! Can't imagine being this far along with a Hubs on the injured list. Any ideas on how long this injury will sideline him?
With DD, he snapped/completely tore his right outside Quad 1 week post-transfer/2 days before we confirmed we were expecting. So 6'6" 325 lbs in a crotch to ankle cast and a newly pregnant woman who was told lift anything, so we can have a sticky bean (2nd round of IVF, only one emby). Between frozen pipes, and flooding int eh ER's causing unusually long wait times for surgery (13 days!!!) I had a very cranky DH, morning sickness, MIL helping, working full time and another 90 days of recovery....

+1 to not restricting this pregnancy. Cold cuts, all the cheese, sushi, medium rare steak, occasional glass of wine with dinner, soft serve ice cream and I even had a Summer Shandy last weekend.
@doxiemoxie212 - OH no! you better make sure he heals honey! Eats well, rests up takes doctor's orders. You tell him he is on the healing path... because he has to take care of you soon enough!!
I can honestly say, that DH getting injured while I am pregnant/first 90-100 days is like a recurring worry for me...

I wish the seafood restrictions were about bacteria, its the mercury. All the other stuff i ate lunch meat and i had sushi twice in December. With the mercury you wouldn’t want your child to have some weird defect. It wouldn’t be so bad if my husband wasn’t so picky. His diet is basically meat, seafood, pizza, rice & fries. So at least 2-3 of our typical weekly dinners are seafood (fish, shrimp, etc)
+1 to eating what I want. While out to eat this weekend, I drank my husband's wine, ate charcuterie (Benton's ham!), boquerones (essentially ceviche), foie gras, raw cheese, soft serve ice cream and various aoilis (however you spell it). I've also had sushi (it's really raw clams and oysters that cause more problems from what I've read), raw fish, and so much more. I try to be smart about where I'm eating, but when I was pregnant with DS, it was hummus and ice cream that had all the warnings.
