WTF do you wear when it is -18 outside???

I was reading the post below.  I mean, I would be frozen to the street!  How do you put on enough clothes and still move?  I would be like that kid from Christmas Story where he can not put his arms down.  It has been 40's here during the day with wind, and I have been so cold.  Presley won't willingly get out of the car, I have to carry both kids into the gym, can not imagine teens, much less, negative teens!!

I feel for you girls!

  • You wear your PJ's because you don't leave the house!  Wink

  • LOL

Just layers, lots of layers, and very warm boots. Those and good gloves are a must.

  • Actually, my DH is in Fargo right now and he said he's surprised at how it's not as bad as he expected. He isn't even wearing long johns under his jeans - layers on top and a big heavy leather coat (full length) and that's it.
  • Ditto that you just leave your house.

  • You don't leave the house, and if you do have to go out, you park as close as possible and run in :-)

  • We don't go outside! Though DH did wear his orange hunting gear outside today to plow.  It was 20something below zero today.

  • I wouldn't leave my house, but if I did I would wear some tights, leggings and another pair of pants and who knows how many layers I can get on top.

  • That's why I now love Uggs and own 3 pairs.  And DD wakes up saying "snow boots?".

I go nuts stuck at home so I still go out, but we are BUNDLED UP and move fast.

  • My low last night was -27 with a -37 windchill. My parents, who live a couple of hours north of me, had a -38 actual temp, but luckily no wind. This is supposed to stick around all week. I think our high today was -7 or something (excluding windchill). You just bundle up best you can, in boots/good winter coat/hats/gloves...and run in as fast as you can :-) Or avoid going out if you can, like I did today. lol

  • Honestly, once it hits 0, the degrees below that don't matter much - it is all colder than you can imagine!
