You all have given me such good ideas to think about. We have a short list for this baby, but nothing seems to jump out as "the one" yet. We need to find out boy or girl first. We decided on DD's name around 20 weeks, but kept it a secret from everyone until then. She's named after my beloved great aunt, so we kind of want to stick with family names if possible. However, that severely limits our options.
I’ve always liked the name Avery for a girl, but I would spell it Averie, it seems more feminine.... is that too yooneek (be honest!!) ??
I think Avery is fine, but IMO that spelling is too yooneek. I'm a big fan of traditional spelling though. As a child or adult I'd appreciate not always having to spell out my name.

I have a top 5 name for my birth decade and always hated being one of many, always identified by my last initial. My name choices for DD and this one are common enough that (hopefully) people don't eff them up by uncommon enough that there isn't a high chance of always having another in their class.
For a girl, I love Leona Josephine but DH doesn't like first or middle of that combo. I also like Liana and Lila but that starts to tred into the super popular Lily zone. For a boy, I like Jonah for a first name and have no idea for a middle name. Girls names are much easier than boy names to me.
We've been discussing this for a while and are fairly set on boy names but not 100% on girls names!

So far for a girl we seem pretty set on Juliette Faith. For a boy, we think we want the first name Lincoln, but are struggling to come up with a middle name that we like.
My husband and I have all baby names picked out in sequence, but part of me wants to name the baby Dagmar if it's a girl. No one thinks this is a good idea, but I think it's really pretty and it means "day maiden".
Zadie is Yiddish for grandfather. That's what my cousins called my step-grandfather.
DH and I have had names picked out for years. A girl will be Sarah Elizabeth and a boy will be Eric Michael. Sarah Elizabeth for my grandmother, great-aunt Sarah and my great-grandmother. Eric Michael has been slightly altered, it was going to be Eric Stanley since Stanley is a family name in my family, but then DH's uncle Michael passed, so Eric for DH's best friend who died years ago and Michael for his uncle.
Edited to add DS is Benjamin Edward, named after DH's paternal grandfather and my paternal grandfather.

Names are sooo hard for DH and I. We currently have a Theodore Thomas (nn Theo) and a Clementine Cate (Cate is for my great grandmother). Now with baby #3 we are planning on another 3 syllable first name with a middle of the same letter. Current Favorites include Luella Lucille (Lucille for DH grandmother) nn Lou Juniper Juliette
boys: Gideon Gabriel (Gabriel is my grandfathers middle name) Edison Edward (Edward is my fathers middle name)
Honestly none of these feel right yet. Our daughter was nameless for a week, so I’m anticipating another difficult naming experience!
I love name threads! We have our names picked out for the most part, but DH likes to change his mind often.
For a boy we like Johnathan Everett. Johnathan is my husband's name and he goes by John, so we would call the baby Everett, which is the name that I absolutely love! Everett is not DH's middle name though, but I might cheat and still make him a third.
For a girl we like Lorelei Lillian. Our last name starts with an 'L' though, so it's a LOT of L's. But I kind of love it. Lorelei is just a name that I love, although DH also likes Caroline, which I'm not a huge fan of. Lillian would be for his mom.
DD1's name is Avery Deanna. Deanna is for my maternal grandmother.
DD2's name is Callie Elizabeth. Elizabeth is my middle name, but also my paternal grandmother's name.
So I really can't win on not using my MIL's name for a baby girl's middle name since I've been using names from my family for the last two
We'l this is our 4th and we haven't announced so I'm nervous to post previous names between the little we've discussed so far we have
Boys: Charles Warren Otto Forest
Girls: I just realized we have none because DH refuses because he wants another boy. Oi!
We have a few lingring from our last list like Violet Audrey Eva is a family name But....most that I like a ton of people also like and I'm trying to at least avoid the top 10.
H and I batted around some girl names yesterday. We both like Claire. I have coppery red hair and I made him promise that if this baby is a girl and has red hair, I can name her Scarlett, so that's in the running, too. We also both like Alice, but he says it reminds him of Alice from the Brady Bunch lol.
We went yooneeque on accident the first time around, so we're looking to compensate with names that register as normal but are actually not frequently heard.
DD: Freya Mae Girl ideas: Jane, Marian
I'm currently hoping for a girl, just because I don't want to get in a fight with my husband about boy names. He's always wanted to name his first son Peter, after his grandfather and a few literary figures, but I don't like it. However, the sheer lameness of my reason (it's too popular and too boring) makes me feel like I should cave in and respect his family sentiment. In short, I don't think we'll be crossing this bridge until we get to it...
I also love all @lurvleybunchococonuts's reject names and @prairiemomma82's whole family. I too am a big fan of the less-frequent traditional names, in case you can't tell.
If this baby's a girl my top name is Sydney, but I don't think H loves it. He agreed to it for DD and then changed his mind. When I was pregnant with DS2 he said we should go with it if DS2 was a girl but obviously that wasn't the case so now it's up in the air if he would go with it or not.
For a boy I have no clue. We had a short list when DS2 was born but I'm not sure how much I'd consider any of those names right now.
Last time I refused to talk names for awhile because I hated the drawn out process the first 2 times, but it took us no time and only a handful of discussions to decide so I might try the same thing again this time.

We've had our names picked out since DS was a few months old. Boy will be Josiah James, nn JJ. Josiah has a Biblical meaning for DH and James is after family. For boys, my husband is the second Michael in his family (different middle names) and it has caused a lot of issues for him - things got messed up between their credit histories, etc. so I'm hoping he won't do that to our child. I would love to have the middle name be Aaron after my brother who passed away at 27 from a brain tumor
