Re: Weekend Randoms 4/7

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I missed the second tri burst of energy boat as well. I’m starting to do a little more, but most days I just feel like napping all day.

  • Good morning! I went to Target yesterday and snagged another registry bag. This one has an avent bottle and a dr browns so we’re slowly stocking up on some bottles for daycare. Our ones from DS will be 2 years old so we’ll get new nipples but I need to see what kind of shape they’re in.

    @hannerbananers that’s such a good perspective! I hope it helped :)
@doctormom33 I’m so sorry for the long, emotionally draining day. Big hugs for you and DH and I’m so very sorry for your loss.
@brzvice I have one beautiful Cadbury egg stashed away. Damn diabetes taking all the fun outta Easter candy lol! Also yes to being bigger this time. I found pics from last time at 21/22 weeks and my whole body looks different. Blah.

  • I'm back just to complain about feeling huge.
  • @doctormom33 what an emotionally exhausting day. Thinking of you.

+1 for feeling huge and bigger than last time. I’m also exhausted. DS was supposed to spend the night with my SIL, and ended up waking up at 10 and crying to come home. He usually loves spending the night over there. He woke up at 12:30 & 2:30 & at 7 for the day. He’s tired. I’m tired. DH is tired. And DS & I are both congested.
  • @doctormom33 I’m sorry for your loss. Sounds like a rough day. I hope you have some time to decompress a bit today.

  • @doctormom33 I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing, and that yesterday was so exhausting. I hope you can find the time to process and may the happy memories outshine the bad ones. (hugs)
  • @doctormom33 so sorry for your loss. Creepy internet hugs.

As for me... Got my brakes done yesterday. Yay adulting. Our area has had two major house fires in the last two days which is fairly unusual. Just doing lots of laundry and hanging out today. I got out all the baby's 0-3 m clothes I had left over from DS1, sent a photo to all the women in my family and threatened their lives if they bought me more clothes LOL. We also bought a case of diapers and wipes yesterday and are talking nursery themes.

Also, like many of you, I feel 87 months pregnant. Yesterday hit me like a ton of bricks. I am so uncomfortable. I don't remember who said the baby's position in their stomach felt weird but SAME, I am so sore with every movement. He's breech right now so that may be why?
  • @doctormom33 so sorry for your loss.

i also feel super crampy this go around, my whole body feels like it’s falling apart and having a very physical job doesn’t help

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • Good morning ladies. I’ve been MIA lately, just too exhausted and busy to check in much. My mom and step dad have been in town since Tuesday, my dad and brother came Friday, yesterday was DS’ fourth bday party where we also announced to family we are having a girl, and where my mil acted like we had all gathered to listen to her stories all afternoon and my nieces destroyed my house. And I have that feeling in my throat that I’m getting sick and I have a dry, hacky cough. Ugh. I need to sleep for a week.

@doctormom33 I’m so sorry for your loss and exhausting day. Many hugs.

Thinking of all of you with pregnancy pain. It sucks. Once family leaves I’ll be able to chime in more. I miss you guys  <3
  • @doctormom33 I'm there with you, but at least with it being cool out, the hard work of sanding is a bit more comfortable. But yeah, I can't stain this cabinet and shelf I'm redoing until the temps warm up. Especially since I'm doing them in the garage to minimize the delicious fumes in the house. lol
  • @doctormom33 Sorry for your loss. <3

@ladygali Gah - hope you're not getting sick! Feel better soon!

I don't feel TOO bad yet - although my varicose veins have been giving me some pain. Planning on drinking a lot of water and trying to keep my feet elevated this week. I know that the fact that I sit indian style all the time really doesn't help the situation either, but that's a hard habit to break.

We are ordering new bookshelves for our living room today. We are moving the stuff from the office/study to the living room to turn the study into baby's room. I'm so excited to start that process - there's a ton of stuff in that office and it's going to take forever!
  • We have had basically a catch all/storage room since I moved in with DH. I mostly keep the door closed to avoid it. But that’s the future nursery. And painting will be happening the last week of the month. Shortly after new carpet. So I have to get in gear to get it cleaned out. DH laid plywood in the attic to turn into better storage. I made some progress a few weeks ago. Then I lost momentum. Trying to get back at it today. I just lack motivation lol

  • hey gang - Hope everyone is having a good weekend.  I was super productive with my spring cleaning and got rid of about 6 trash bags of crap to throw away or giveaway.  My closet looks amazing.

About how many items does everyone have on their registry?  I have three registries and feel like there are a lot of items.  I worry that people might judge me.  I'm registered  at Buy Buy Baby, Target and Magic Beans - local boutique store with more high end type items but it will be a good place for the folks that want to physically go to the store and shop.  It looks like we will have two showers, a traditional baby shower in CT(where my family is and where I grew up) that will be close friends and family then a 'jack n jill' type party in Boston that will be more my husbands crowd.

  • @laurad75 honestly the more items on your registry the better IMO. No one is going to judge you, they shouldn’t anyway! The more items you have the more selection your shower guests will have for what fits their budget and if they plan to bring it to your shower or ship it, etc.

  • My Target registry has about 80 items on it, I think my Amazon registry is about 50 so far, mostly the same types of things. I would have just had an Amazon registry, but there's some people in my family who don't have computers or internet and I figured they'd like to put their hands on stuff in a physical store.

It seems like a TON of stuff to me. It doesn't help that I am one of those people who hates seeming like a mooch, so I feel slightly guilty about it. But I tried to have a healthy mix of useful items that were in all price ranges, so people didn't feel required to buy big ticket items only, so a lot of is smaller things.

@doctormom33 so sorry for your loss, sending hugs. Take advantage of whatever pampering YH gives you and relax today!

Why must people use chainsaws on the weekend? Are they not aware that there’s a night shift nurse in the immediate vicinity who is pregnant and desperately needs her sleep?!? Now I’m awake early with a headache! Last night was busy, I’m hoping tonight is a little slower.

I’m feelin super grumpy that I’m not seeing DS at all today. My mom picked him up before lunch Saturday and he spent last night with her, now tonight he’s with MIL because DH and I both work. I won’t see him until tomorrow night.  :'(

@laurad75 I limited my registry just because I'm hoping to get as much of the practical stuff as possible and it seems every shower I have been to has leaned the other way in what the person has actually received. If you actually think you want or would purchase most things on your list though, I think its totally fine!

ETA: i have like 60 things on my target registry and 20 on Amazon. Not sure if that's actually small, but i think it is?
  • Thank you, that's really helpful.  I definitely wanted a big range in price points and as a FTM we have absolutely nothing to get us started.  Most of my friends have grown children so there is not much for hand-me-downs either.  I didn't register for clothes since I thought people who get that type of stuff anyway and  I don't have choose it for them.  Is that a mistake?

@laurad75 no, that’s exactly what I did with DS’s registry. I didn’t put any clothes on there because people tend to just buy some outfits anyway. I wanted to put stuff on there that we absolutely needed and I had the tendency to just grab little things like bibs or pacifiers if I was at the store.
  • @laurad75 I didn't register for clothes and received a ton. Like hang a clothesline and get ready because the outfits are coming! So no, I don't think you made a mistake. People typically buy something from your registry and add an outfit or too because they enjoy looking at the baby clothes and can personalize it a bit by picking what they like. I didn't have to return much and actually really enjoyed getting clothes I didn't pick out. If the brand is Carter's I've heard exchanging/ returning these items is pretty easy because Carter's brand us sold at so many different stores and they don't usually give you a problem no matter where it was originally purchased from.

  • @doctormom33 that’s quite the marathon of a day, I’m glad you have today to recover.

DH is throwing up, so I guess this is his annual stomach bug. Why does it always hit around this time? Last year DS got it first and then DH, so now I’m hoping DS is spared. I would be worried about myself, but after two years in a row of not catching it, I’m starting to think I’m immune. I guess someone has to take care of everybody.

  • I don't judge people for having a lot of items on their registry.  I judge them for their registry being mainly more expensive items.  @neeraja_k.   That goes for all registries, weddings, etc!
  • I have fewer than 30 items on my registry because I only wanted to list what I actually want and will use. I'm sure people will go off list, but that's ok. I didn't want to flood the registry with filler crap, because I was afraid that would take focus from the things I actually need. I'm sure I'll get plenty of clothes and blankets without having to register for them, and if not I can always buy those myself later.

  • I have probably around 150 items altogether on my registries, but we both have big families and a large number of friends who want to buy gifts. We figure we'll see what we can get off of the registries and then figure out what we really want to purchase ourselves. I tried to put a wide variety of prices/things since a lot of our friends will be relying on the registries to know what to buy- we're the first of our friend group to have a baby.
