  • Last night at work we had a big fundraiser so we sent my son to my parents for the weekend. We got our carpets cleaned this morning and are going out for a big celebration dinner tonight!
@maureenmce I love novelty socks!! For me it's something about having fun socks that no one can see that makes me laugh. Though if I'm being honest everyone sees them, mostly because I show them off lol.
  • @mckcak23 Enjoy your celebration dinner! And yes, novelty socks are the best. My husband got me some X Files style alien abduction ones, and my 2 year old "bought me" some knee high socks of cats playing with yarn. They're delightful and I want more, haha.
  • Huuuuuge Pascha celebration tonight! I’m so excited...and terrified about how sleep will go with my 15-month-old. I’m planning on putting him down at his normal bedtime, then waking him up to go to church at 10:30. Then...somehow I’ll manage to put him right back to sleep, right? (I’m bringing the whole PnP ensamble.) Then he’ll wake up again for communion at like 1:30 (its nuts guys) and we’ll keep him awake during the after-party then schlep allll the stuff back to where we’re staying and put him to sleep again. We shall see. If he wakes up at his usual 6 a.m. it’s on MH. He agreed to it this morning!

Tomorrow is a noon service and then a big party at the priest’s house. I’m just loving my time here in Vegas and wish we could stay forever.

  • We're spending tonight in a hotel in my old college town. DHs parents are visiting his grandma who lives about an hour away from here, so they're all watching DS for us. This will be his first overnight without at least one of us there!  :'( We plan to visit a couple restaurants (dinner then breakfast in the morning) that we used to go to all the time, and the bar I used to bartend at. But dammit, no drinking for me!! I wanted to see if anyone could still do the rainbow shots like I did, but idk if DH will drink all 6 by himself  :D

  • Ughhhh we just found out we owe $2000 in taxes. That's gonna take a bite out of the money I had squirreled away for maternity leave and the new car we desperately need. :( *shakes fist* Stupid California! Apparently we now make *just* enough to not qualify for the child care deduction. (Which is funny, because it doesn't feel like we're making more...because we're spending it all on child care! LOL.) Oh well!
  • @PensiveCrayon That sounds like so much fun!

  • DH is oot so I’m on my own with the two rugrats. I spent the morning cutting fabric for a quilt. They did crafts and then cleaned up. I took them to a Wendy’s for lunch for cleaning up, and then we went to the library for a while. Came home. Ran on the treadmill. Made pizza dough for dinner. Cut some more fabric.

I’m so tired, y’all. We’re eating our pizzas and watching Netflix. The kids are finished and want popcorn but I don’t want to move :(

  • @maureenmce Oh no! That is a lot of $$ for an unexpected expense!
@PensiveCrayon that sounds like quite an evening/night/morning. Good luck!

AFM, Last night we went out for tacos with our BFFs. There was suspicion about my seltzer but they didn't outright ask. I'm sure they know now though, which is fine. Today i had a great yoga class this morning and then MH and I went to fill some seats at a friend's business event and hit up trader joes for the week. The rest of tonight is pizza and chill! Tomorrow I'm doing some meal prep for me and making a few freezer meals for a coworker who just had a 2nd baby, after that- chill and nap!

  • Okay and this is random but something in my basement smells like roses. I can’t figure out what it is but it’s been bugging me for days. Wtf.

  • Ugh @maureenmce that sucks! I'm sorry :(

@runrinserepeat you sew?? So do I! I've never made a quilt, but I do make clothes for DS and I!

  • @CecilB93 I’ve made some clothes for DD and Halloween costumes, too, but I love quilting. I’m making a baby blanket for my brother and SIL’s baby girl. They’re due in July and I’m so excited for them!

  • Um...my weekend is going to sound weird compared to everyone elses lol. Went diving for octopus this morning with my husband and our guys friends(we need more live bait for fishing trips). Then me and my son played in the sand while the men fished. We caught a big octopus and enough fish to make dinner so we called it a day. Now were home, and husband working in the yard and Im cleaning everything we caught. (We dont go to the store too often because its so expensive so we like to catch, fish or hunt our meat)

@runrinserepeat thats awesome! I love handmade blankets! Those are the best gifts

  • @kuailanikaleo Wow, that sounds like an amazing day! How cool!
  • Got some seeds started inside for when we get past the last frost today; tomorrow my husband's got a hockey game at a reasonable hour so we'll go watch him play. It's a nice change of pace after the past week and it's nonstop action.
  • Not much going on here. Had a birthday party to go to today for a 9yr old. Pretty uneventful, relaxing, watching Grey's Anatomy again, because I can't get into any other shows yet.

We've been working on a bunch of stuff inside all weekend since it STILL isn't quite warm enough for yard work.

Yesterday we went to the home improvement store to get supplies for some small projects around the house.  The ceiling fan in our bedroom is loose so we had to go up into the attic to troubleshoot. We have lived in this house for 2 years and today was the first time I've been up there!  Our house is a little over 100 years old so I was hoping to find some interesting stuff up there but all there was was a very old hanging light fixture and bulb, probably original to the house.

We split some of the tomato plants we started from seed and put them in bigger pots.  I have sooooo many seedlings under grow lights right now that need to go outside in the sunshine but winter  just.  won't.  quit.

I also got a mild concerned scolding from my husband for sanding and staining the wooden cabinets in our bathroom.  It's going to be really challenging for me with all of the things I'm not supposed to do now.  I have several painting/staining/refinishing projects and I feel terrible basically making my husband do them for me when I am otherwise perfectly capable of doing it myself.  SO FRUSTRATING!

  • My lunch was just olives and chocolate cake (DH's bday is tomorrow and we're celebrating today) and I KNOW that sounds disgusting but it was amaaaaazing.
  • I finally put my finger on why the strict board organization bothers me so much. I’m not PGAL. I’m not AMA. I’m not a first time mom. So I’m not really going to participate in those threads, but I’m also not going to get to know anybody here if I don’t go through and read all those.

It was so much easier when everything was in the randoms and/or people just posted whatever they wanted. Also, get off my lawn.

  • @runrinserepeat I think it’s still early yet. I think as more people pour in there will definitely be more participation in general. There’s also a lot of threads that I think everyone will wind up in, like the symptoms thread, questions thread (I think I read there would be an ask a stm?), randoms of course, ultrasounds, etc. I think the smaller groups are nice for talking about your specific issues related to that thread, but I’m with you in hoping there’s a good amount of intermingling.

  • @rosebud332 I’m sure it’ll get better, it just feels stifling compared to my experience with the bump when I first started. I can’t say I ever found the boards to be too congested with repeat questions, unless you’re on first tri or working moms or something like that.

I mean, I’ll adjust or gtfo. I get that this is just how it is here now and whining won’t change it. I just finally figured out why it was so bothersome, that’s all.

  • @runrinserepeat I think (hope!) people will start posting in randoms more! Even though I am PGAL and AMA, there's only so much time I want to spend talking about those particular things and I definitely enjoy getting to know everybody! I think like @rosebud332 says, it's still early. Hoping things get much more active.

Also, I think anyone can post GTKYs at any time or any other threads that apply to everyone. (There was a winter baby thread earlier that was outside of the scheduled ones.) Feel free to do that!! I'm bored and cleaning and happy to participate, haha.
  • Nah, I just mean like clicking into the ama, and you asked about maternity leave plans. I’m like “oh hey! I have thoughts and feels about that! ... but I don’t go here”.

Also its probably just me, but I always loved seeing things like ultrasounds and gender reveals in their own threads. People get so excited, and there’s no “reply” function here like on Facebook, so in a group thread it’s hard to keep everything straight and congratulate or engage with people in those posts beyond love tits.

Again, I recognize that this is a me problem. This isn’t meant as criticism or a call for change or something. I knew things were different when I came here. If I really don’t like it, I’ll go join babycenter or someshit lmao

  • We had a great celebration dinner last night! Then today we picked up our son from my parents house and he puked the whole way home. He is acting totally fine now but when I opened the car door it was a whole lot of nope.

We also spent some time this weekend deciding how we are going to redo our basement into a play room this summer!

Does anyone else have big projects they want to get done before baby?
  • @mckcak23 i think we may try to reno our bathroom. We fixed up our basement a few years ago and it’s so nice to have space for all the bigger toys (and my bigger toys, like my treadmill, too). Good luck!

  • @runrinserepeat Yeah, it feels a little more like a questionnaire I'm answering than a discussion forum. I feel ya.

  • @runrinserepeat I get what you're saying. I was in March 16 and even then to now is super different. We had a questions thread, ticker threads, one pinned US thread, etc, but we had one random thread the whole time, not a new one each week. I actually preferred that because with weekly randoms I feel like conversations are pretty much forced to end when the new week starts. I do also agree though that as more people join it should pick up a little more and we'll all get to know each other.

Yeah I've just been going by what all the other months seem to do now (J16 was different too) but if no one likes it I'm happy to not keep starting "official" threads or asking numbered questions in those threads. Whatever people want.
  • @mckcak23 I think we are just gonna buy  a whole new house! Haha. We’ve been working on getting things ready to sell because we’re already outgrown it, but with new baby coming we’ll hopefully be moving a little faster now.

  • Ugh, post got cut off. Anyway, as for me, we're off to a birthday dinner for my husband and I'm SO glad it's tonight because I've been feeling nauseous off and on this whole afternoon and I feel like full blown morning sickness is coming maybe as soon as tomorrow. *shudder* I'm going to eat a delicious salad while they still sound appealing. (I had a veggie aversion 1st tri with my daughter, which sucked.)
  • Imagine the Wild West days of February 2012 hahaha
I joined at m14, didn’t find a fit in j16, but came back for d18.
  • Yeah I've just been going by what all the other months seem to do now (J16 was different too) but if no one likes it I'm happy to not keep starting "official" threads or asking numbered questions in those threads. Whatever people want.
Thank you for starting so many of the threads. I think it will get easier as we get familiar with each other. I’m already starting to know a few things about people. We can all probably make an effort to post in randoms and make more small talk in that thread.
  • @Activebaby No problem! And I've only been starting so many threads because I was one of the first here and am familiar with the format from TTGP and lurking other boards. Also, not many other people seem to be starting threads yet and I'm hoping to encourage more conversation! But seriously, I have absolutely no preference when it comes to board organization or lack thereof! So if anyone wants to do things differently that's more than fine with me! And I want @runrinserepeat and @texas_t and anyone else who isn't enjoying the current structure to post differently or change things if they want. I really have no skin in the organization game, I just want to chat re: pregnancy because no one but my husband knows and that's not going to change for a while! :)
  • I had a meat aversion with my first pregnancy and history already is starting to repeat itself. My husband suggested spare ribs for dinner and the thought made me gag.  :D

  • Yes, I agree with @Activebaby about ^^.

I did feb 12, and that wound up going badly, but some of my BFFs are from there. July 2014 was... odd. We were catfished hard by this ...person for more than a year. Still, those are my people now.

Im sure it’ll all work out. Each board is different and we’ll figure it out as we go. It is nice to start seeing some of the same names (though your gif games need work  ;) )

@runrinserepeat My gif game is TERRIBLE. I literally started that Friday gif party thread so I could practice, lol.
  • @texas_t it was bananas. And so crazy when it came out. They found the actual person and actually wound up talking to her on the phone. Don’t mess with J14. They’ll hunt you down.

  • My 1st pregnancy the thought of chicken made me lose it, but I wanted all of the red meat. 2nd totally different. This one...who knows, but I wanted a hamburger today. I’m not usually huge into meat and would prefer seafood.
My baby busted his lip today and cut his hand on scissors. He is okay, but I feel so guilty (both accidents werwbme and h’s fault) I’m letting both kids sleep with me. I keep getting kicked. None of this will help me with the fact that I’m not sleeping well.
