@borgie05 I may have to if this continues! Lol, but our weather has been a roller coaster lately - Snow on Easter, 25-35 all week, 64 yesterday, and potential snow again this weekend...so I'm gonna bet the heat was off yesterday because it had been warm a couple weeks ago!
@PensiveCrayon I've never been a stomach sleeper, but when I was PG with DS I wanted to sleep on my stomach!! It helps to have a body pillow, lay it beside you and hike one leg over top and essentially hug it. At least that's what helped me out a lot!
I know most people are exhausted in first tri, hell with DS I was asleep all the time besides work and dinner. Anyone experiencing insomnia?? Granted my sleep hasn't been great in over 2 years, but I've been having trouble staying asleep at night. I didn't think this was a thing until late 2nd-third tri!
@CecilB93 yes. So tired all the time but then I go to bed and I wake up at night and can’t get back to sleep. It’s drivinf me insane. I’m also always cold and I keep a blanket scarf at work!
And yes to pillow @PensiveCrayon!! I am a huge fan of the snoogle. It saved me last pregnancy.

I just came on here to complain about this! I am tired and usually can fall asleep pretty easily, but I wake up around 2 or 3 am and am up for hours. Sometimes I can't get back to sleep at all. Tonight is an all time low. I went to bed at 10, woke up at 1 and here it is 6 am and I haven't been able to get back to sleep. I've had sleeping issues before, but this is intense! Does anyone have advice beyond the practice good sleep hygiene stuff? I've tried a snack, meditation, reading for a while... nothing seems to help.
@kadeephd@kristah2 after a quick google search it looks like chamomile tea is considered safe. I thought I remembered drinking some last PG, but had to double check! May be worth a try!
@cecilB93 I am afraid to drink anything before sleeping since I seem to have to pee at abnormal rates already! It may be better to fall asleep and wake up in an hour than not fall asleep at all though. I'm at least glad to know I am not the only one!
Ugh, yes to the insomnia. I was falling asleep watching a show at 9 pm and then I was up several times throughout the night and then up for the day at 5 am because I couldn't sleep anymore. I have a feeling I'm going to be dragging today.

I drank chamomile tea last night. I was still up a few times. I definitely feel some insomnia, but part of it is also my kids awake and 1)screaming for me or 2) running to my bed. The tea tasted good though.
I have insomnia regardless of pregnancy. At least now I’m falling asleep at like 8:00, so I feel more rested?
Serious turning point for me was when my therapist told me to stop worrying about it. I know I can function on little sleep. At worst, I’ll be sort of tired. It’s not the calamity I used to make it out to be. That’s actually helped me calm down and fall back asleep, or just chill out when I’m awake because oh well.
@runrinserepeat I just know with my last one I had serious pregnancy brain. I had a job interview at 5 months along and couldn't think of words to answer "what are three words your friend/boss would use to describe you". I know I don't function well on little sleep, so I'd like to avoid pregnancy brain before people know at least! And lack of sleep won't be helpful! Lol
Yes to waking up in the middle of the night! What the heck!? It's torture! I woke up at 2:45 last night and again at 4:45, and 5:15. So dumb. Also, I was pretty certain my uterus detached from my body when I rolled over in bed this morning. Freaking RLP.
@CecilB93 I'll just say that focusing on the worst case scenario and the what ifs don't really help in the middle of the night, while acknowledging that you're awake, and you'll still make it through tomorrow (even if you're slow or dragging) seems to quiet the brain and make it easier to fall asleep, at least for me. I know of course that I won't function as well with less sleep, but at least the way my anxiety works, focusing on the worst thing that could happen only lets my brain spiral and it can keep me awake much longer.
Psh y’all I am the queen of the Snoogle! But still it doesn’t come close to glorious stomach sleeping. But it IS pretty comfy. The only problem is traveling because it’s so ginormous...but without it, ow.

I’m such a rage monster right now. My husband makes me angry, my three year old makes me angry, drivers on the road really annoy me. I hate myself because I’m usually really cheerful. And complaining feels sooooo good.
I am 5w 1d and am extremely dizzy (even when seated), freezing, and have some lovely heartburn.... I'm traveling out of the country in 2 weeks and hoping (probably ignorantly) that it won't get too much worse.
@borgie05 I’ve been having hot flashes and the worst night sweats. It’s awful!
+1 for constipation and insomnia, too.
Really why came to this thread is because I've been havin some cramping today and it’s freaking me the f out. I’ve been told some cramping is normal, but I’m just so paranoid, I don’t remember having cramping with my last 2.
@westcoastfoodie Is the cramping intense like takes your breath away pain? Or more mild? My OB said to call her if it's so sharp it takes my breath away, but otherwise it's completely normal, especially as a STM.

@Activebaby Yeah, my OB said with second (and beyond) pregnancies, your body kicks into high gear faster, so sometimes there can be cramping because the uterus is rapidly expanding. She said not to worry unless it was seriously painful (and/or accompanied by red spotting or bleeding.)
@maureenmce that’s interesting about the uterus kicking into gear faster, hopefully that’s it. It was a couple pretty strong stabs of pain, but I don’t know that it’s take-my-breath-away bad. And it’s just here and there, with no spotting or anything. I’m going to drink more water and lay low. I know worrying doesn’t help anything either!
Hi all! So, I think I am experiencing some varicose veins and I'm wondering if that's normal so early on? In 5 weeks and 6 days. I know pregnancy can cause it...Last night, a vein in my calf was buldging when I stood on it and my calf felt kind of burny and itchy, but it felt like the itch was beneath the skin. I couldn't sleep because of it, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how to help with the pain?
Same! Other than a wicked case of heartburn after a chocolate egg, I feel nothing but anxiety!!! I just want to vomit once, feel pregnant and then go back to feeling fine
@GoyaBean913 omg yes the heartburn!! I don't remember ever having heartburn until probably late second tri with DS, like ever in my life until then. Today it was so bad I couldn't stop burping and thought I was gonna throw up a time or two. I had no MS with DS so really hoping to not have to worry about puking at work this time either!
FX I can sleep tonight, DH and I are driving 3 hours tomorrow for a night away in my old college town. I drive since I get motion sickness (pregnant or not...) so I need to not be tired.
@maureenmce in my first pregnancy we were trying but my periods were irregular so it was a luck of the draw type of thing. All this to say that I didn't even have the slightest clue I was pregnancy until half way through my 6th week. I know for a fact my boobs did not hurt this Much! And that first moment when I'm taking my bra off... o.m.g.
