I have a standard OB appointment on Wednesday afternoon, probably just pee in a cup, take my vitals, listen to the heartbeat, chit-chat sort of visit.
I'm definitely going to ask about an ultrasound where I can video it. He's already said he doesn't care if we take pictures or videos, unlike the MFM's ultrasounds (technically). But since all of my ultrasounds from now on will be with the MFM, the chance to record anything is between slim and none. So I'd like to ask if he can order one so I can take a better video of the little one in there moving about for my in-laws. There are no elective ultrasound places around here within a 2hr drive, so that's not an option unfortunately.
Have the A/S with MFM on Thursday afternoon. I am nervous as heck but, I can't wait to see the LO and DH is finally able to come to something so I am excited he can finally see the baby. I also have a regular OB appointment on Friday. Just the standard kind.
Tomorrow morning we are having a fetal echo-cardiogram which is a standard precaution for anyone that has a shitty A/S (I'm paraphrasing a bit). Then we have our monthly OB appt immediately after. I'm eager to discuss the MCDK findings with our OB since we haven't spoken to her yet.

Follow up scan today since they couldn't see the kidneys clearly enough. Second Centering appointment tomorrow! @Secretstapler how is Centering going for you??
OB appt this afternoon. Pee, chat, Doppler, bye. But I do want to ask about the stiffness in my hands and wrists, I'm suspecting it's a carpal tunnel type thing but my Google MD is pretty limited. Plus I want to ask about my anatomy scan measurements. They really shouldn't put that info on my patient portal without a doctor's interpretation.
@laurad75 - I had the fetal echo done last pregnancy and will again for this pregnancy. It was the quietest appointment I've ever been to, the doctor told us right from the beginning that if he's not talking to us, it isn't because something is wrong, he just really needs to focus on the images. I hope it goes super quick for you guys!
Good vibes going out to everyone with scans and follow-up scans this week! Hugs too, of course
@mrsbubbles-2 Thanks for mentioning that. I can see a silent doctor freaking me out.

I have my second level u/s at 8:45 tomorrow morning an hour away from my house. DH can’t go because of work so I’m taking my mom with. Before the appt we have an appt to meet with a genetic counselor which I have no idea what the point is of that because I won’t know any more details about the baby’s condition than I know now, and Kaiser already has all my family genetic history. I’m just hoping and praying they will have more answers for me instead of just telling me 3-5 different things it “could” be, or I’m going to lose my mind.
@missybutler94 They had us meet with a genetics counselor after our A/S that showed the MCDK and she just went over all the other tests we could do (we had already done MaterniT21). This was just to rule out that the condition was not connected to any genetic issues. The unknown is just the worst. GL tomorrow and keep us posted. I will do the same. xo

I have my AS on Friday. A day away from 23 weeks which I thought was late but my old school doc is very laid back. I love him for it. I wanted to make sure SO was back from FL to be there. It’s his first baby. Doctor was like no problemo. ;-)
Ladies who have had the Lv 2 u/s or gone back after an anatomy scan to have something rechecked; will they actually tell you anything during it? Or is it another one where they make you wait days for results?

When I had my level 2 they did tell me right away that the bright spot on the heart was still there, that baby’s chances of DS went from 1/10,000 to 2/10,000 (I still remember them saying it that way and not 1/5000) but said that for peace of mind I could do the harmony test so that’s what we did! Hugs! It’s nerve wracking for sure!

The actual ultrasound technician generally isn’t allowed to tell you anything. If the doctor does the scan, they will likely tell you. Personally my doctor always visits with you same day after your scan. I’ve never had to wait days, even after a first ultrasound, so it may depend on your office.

I believe it is a more qualified technician/doctor who performs the level two though. At least that’s how it was where I had it done.
@ecwk My next Centering appointment is tomorrow, too! I'm hoping we get to know each other a bit more, so it doesn't feel so stiff. And I'm excited to see all the bumps on the FTMs who had only barely popped 4 weeks ago. Good luck at your appointment!
Good luck with all of your scans this week, ladies! Hoping everyone gets good news and fun peeks at the little ones.
I don't have any appointments this week, which is a blessing for me. My anatomy scan is next week. I did meet with the neurologist last week to discuss the follow up MRI I had the week prior (I'm the one who had the brain bleed and was in the hospital late February). Super long update to follow here-
He said the blood is definitely reabsorbing and the area is getting smaller from the comparison of the two mris. Definitely good news there although I could already tell because my symptoms (dizziness, unsteady walking, loss of function in my arm) are all a million times better than they were a few weeks ago. It will take months for the blood to completely reabsorb and symptoms to completely dissipate. I still can't turn my head from side to side quickly or lay on my right side. And I'm too unsteady to carry DD for very long or very far, which is a bummer for me. Once you have a stroke, you are automatically at risk for another one and with blood volume doubling while pg, that puts me at an even greater risk. So, I'm pretty much terrified of it happening again all the time. I've had a continuous headache since it all started at the end of February and Tylenol never fully knocks it out. Ugh. Also, can't do any additional testing or treatment while pg because it all contains radiation. Good news, the type of stroke I had is really the best kind I could have hoped for, as it was a very slow bleed instead of an aneurysm that could cause more serious damage. There is a good chance that if it doesn't happen again, I may not need surgery at all.
Labor and delivery is a whole different issue. MFM recommended vaginal delivery because he was worried about fluid balance in the brain since you lose so much blood during c section. Neuro seems to be more worried about pushing and that causing another stroke. He wants me to try straining and see if that makes the headaches worse. I did some squats and my head feels like garbage but maybe that will get better as more blood reabsorbs. Game plan with him is to get another MRI in July and then follow up with him before baby comes. Sounds like it's going to be a last minute decision on how I deliver. Really, really hoping for vaginal but also scared at what that may cause.
Phew! Sorry that was so long and I'm hapoy to have you guys for support
@rocknrrollmom that all has to be extremely overwhelming!! You are in my prayers!! Like you said hopefully once more blood absorbs straining won’t be as much of an issue and you can have a vaginal delivery!
I am so sorry you’ve been through so trauma this pregnancy! I’ll be hoping things continue to improve!
I’m sorry you’re going through that @rocknrollmom that is overwhelming for sure but we are here for you! Keeping you in my prayers for all positive updates from here on out!! Hugs!!
@rocknrollmom I’ve been hoping for an update. I’m glad it seems to be getting better on its own. I can’t imagine how overwhelming all of this might be. Thinking of you.
@rocknrollmom - I'm so happy that the blood is reabsorbing and that your symptoms are improving! All the hugs and fingers crossed that you can have the delivery you want!
@rocknrrollmom I’m so sorry you went through that! I’m glad to hear things are improving and I hope your doctors can come to an agreement on what is the safest delivery for you and baby. Sending lots of hugs!
@rocknrollmom I hope you can have the birth you want, but more importantly I hope you are healthy and safe whatever birth you have! I hope you get some clearer answers next time.
@rocknrollmom I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this. Pregnancy itself is scary enough. FX your doctors come up with a plan that makes you feel safe and comfortable
DS born 04/22/15, Pregnant again 03/01/17 however loss due to PPROM at 20+6 weeks now TTC rainbow
@rocknrollmom I am so sorry you have to go through this. But, I am glad things seem to be fixing themselves. I hope your are headed for a full recovery and that you can have the kind of birth you would like safely!
@rocknrrollmom So glad to hear that you are improving! I am keeping everything crossed for you that your remaining symptoms go away quickly and that you have a healthy and safe delivery, no matter the method.
@missybutler94 For
all my scans the tech does the initial scans and photos and then the doctor
comes in to take a 2nd look and if needed (like at my A/S) talk to
us about anything worth discussing. I
didn’t have to wait for results. At my A/S it wasn’t my doctor but one of the
docs from the high-risk team.
AFM: I'm happy to share that today's echocardiogram went very well and baby looked great. It's such a relief that he isn't showing any further concerns beyond the MCDK. Next week we should have the results of the amnio and we will do our 2nd scan and hopefully all those results will be nice and boring. FX!
