I went yesterday and the baby section was almost wiped out at mine so I got some bottles and an updated rock n play. We weren’t doing a registry though since we have like 95% of the stuff from DS and I told my family no sprinkle lol
@juliebird6 I agree. The Erie BRU was nearly cleaned out when I was there weeks ago, and the sales weren’t great. Anything that I would’ve considered buying was 10-20% off. When I compared their sale prices to Amazon & Target’s regular prices, they were virtually the same. Not worth it IMO.
Now that we know TRU in Erie is also closing, I’ll take DS there when we get my car inspected this week. He has some Christmas money saved up, and this will be the last time he sees that many Legos in one place. I don’t plan to buy anything though.
A lot of the toys at our TRU are 30% off, I got DS1 a skateboard for hella cheap today.
The Legos and Duplos were a whopping 5% But I was planning on buying them, anyway. Just went there for the better selection. I really am going to miss that.
We went to BRU today. Our location is only a mile from home, and has its last day on Saturday. It's one of the locations that was on the original list of closures.
It was pretty sad. All of the furniture was gone, along with all the strollers and carseats. All the clothes were only 40% off, but the starting prices were so high, they still seemed expensive. Plus, I don't know the sex of my baby yet, and there was nothing even close to neutral outside of the preemie section. Toys we're up to 70% off, but the selection was bizarre. Useful things like diapers and toiletries were only 10% off. So we bought nothing. I thought about getting a shopping cart, they were only 30 cents (25 cents if you buy 40 or more!).
After, we went to Carter's, where they are having a really good sale and not going out of business. All the same clothes with a much better selection for 50% off. Plus clearance was an extra 40% off the clearance price. So I bought a bunch of stuff off the clearance rack that are neutral and for cold weather and for 6 or 9 months. I'm pretty excited, they're all super cute.
And I'm pretty pleased that I gave no more money to BRU. I flipped through the racks and just kept thinking, "yep, this is why you're going out of business."

It’s completely store location dependent as to sale timing. My location closed a few weeks ago.
Agree with others who said discounts stunk. Prior to the foreclosure ‘sales,’ there were always numerous clothes sections that were 40-60% off and occasional 75% off clearance price sales. The foreclosure sales never got that good. I couldn’t figure out why people were grabbing up their Carter’s clothes like hot cakes at 10-20% off when they could just go to the Carters store for 50-60% off on the same day.
@proudparent2b - that always confused me! Like Carters has a sale about every 30 minutes, I don't buy Carters brand stuff anywhere but the store or online. So weird.
Our BRU is closed already. We have a BRU and TRU next door within literal walking distance from my house. I hope some good stuff takes up that real estate...
