Pic of the rug in person. The curtains are left over from DS2 and are getting switched out with pink ones. Decals need to go up too! Still lots to do in here!
Omgosh. I feel so completely unprepared. Making us looking bad. Lol.
@legallykate I love that Hillary quote! And honestly, I don't see why only girls should have it in their rooms.
Do you have a theme for the nursery? No, we're not really into themes... Or really decorating in general. DS sort of has a robot theme in his room, but it only consists of some tiny cross stitch robots and two giant cross stitch robots made out of pegboard. And one of his sheets has robots on it. I guess I'd like to do at least as much for new baby, but we don't know what.
Will you be room sharing with baby? What setup do you imagine for the bedroom? Yeah, I think we'll share until I go back to work after Christmas or so. We have a sidecar sleeper that we used for DS. Then new baby will move to its own room. I think we'll move DS's rocker to new baby's room, but I guess we'll need new stuff for everything else. I think I'd like to replace the rocker in DS's room with a chair and a half so we can cuddle both kids more easily.
Are you doing any additional work (like moving an older kiddo to his / her big kid room?) We do have to clear out our third bedroom to make the new nursery. I'm kind of leaving it to DH to clear out. He's a teacher, so he'll have a lot more free time once school gets out. So I'm putting it all off until then.
Any crafts / DIY you have planned? I liked the pegboard cross-stitch, and they were pretty easy, so I think I'll do something like that again. DS has my curtains from when I was a kid, so I just added a layer of blackout fabric. I have another pair, so again, I think I'll do that for new baby. My mom and I also made a quilt for DS (not robot themed). I'd like to do the same, but I have so much less time now.
No real theme - I'm not a huge fan and we didn't do one with DS either. His was more of a color based theme - navy, gray and red accents. We will probably keep the same color scheme for this one just because it's easy and I don't want to spend the $$ on things that I already have. I have a few prints from Etsy we got with DS that I will reuse. When we moved last summer, we didn't hang them up because we still had to pain his room and what not. We have crib sheets in solid colors and a few patterns that match that color scheme we will reuse, plus navy blackout curtains. We have a tall dresser and a short dresser we used as a changing table that will stay with #2, and we will get DS a new dresser.
DS was in our room in a RnP for about 6 weeks, then we moved him to his own room. That's kind of our plan with #2, but in the PnP or something else, but we will see what happens! It also depends if BFing goes better this time around - if so, he may be in our room a bit longer.
Another one for no real theme. Right now, the walls are a greige color, with grey curtains, grey crib, white dressers, grey rocker. We have a couple framed prints of sleepy baby animals that are really cute, but nothing over the top. I'm really not a fan of decals or big murals painted on the wall. I much prefer plain, classic styles. If this baby is a boy, I might change out a few of the more girly accents, but overall, it's staying the same.
I'm actually more looking forward to moving DD to her new big girl room and decorating that with her. I want to have her "help" pick things out but she'll only be like 19 months so I don't know how much help she'll really be.
@juliebird6 I'm excited for DS, too! He's already in his big boy bed, but he will be moving rooms in the next couple of months (once we pain the one he's moving to!). I'm excited to let him decide what he wants to do and what fun things he would like for his room! He's almost 3, so I'm hoping he will have some good input!
I'm loving the space themes! We are reusing ds nursery theme. The room will be painted gray, and accented in grey and yellow with the theme Giraffes. I'm obsessed with giraffes and jellyfish and once this little peanut grows up to decide on his own theme, I won't have anywhere to put my giraffes, so I am using them while I can I'd love to do a new theme, but I just can't let my giraffes go
Eta baby will sleep in a bassinet in the pnp in our room for a while, until I'm comfortable moving him to his crib in his own room. The nursery is almost done, all we need is the crib actually assembled, room painted, and clothes washed/hung up or folded
I LOVE GIRAFFES!!!!!!
DS's room was giraffes and whales because DH and I couldn't agree so we did both. We got a crib skirt and changing pad cover that was navy blue, then found both giraffe and whale crib sheets and blankets for the rocker that had navy blue. So we could switch themes each week lol!
But the giraffes won because I have a bunch of stuffed animal giraffes and my girlfriend gave us a 6 foot tall wooden giraffe. So ditto not letting the giraffes go!
@mrsbubbles-2 I think you could totally make that mobile. I’ve
made those felt flowers before and they were super easy.
@alinafed I made a letter just like that for my niece’s
first birthday party and my sister hung it up in her room. It was really easy,
just a little time consuming. But it also only cost me maybe $15 after getting
the silk flowers and the letter.
@legallykate That quote! I probably can’t get away with
having it on Hillary’s silhouette, but it’s so perfect.
Do you have a theme for the
nursery?
I don’t really have a theme in my head yet. DH mentioned he liked lavender as a
color, so maybe sheets in that color scheme and some big flowers on the wall
over the bed. I think my sister is getting a wooden cut out of her name to use
at my shower, so I’ll probably re-use that in the nursery.
Will you be room sharing with baby? What
setup do you imagine for the bedroom?
I want to get that fancy PnP with the bassinet and use that. I have a feeling
we won’t room share for long, so I don’t want to invest in a more expensive
bassinet.
Are you doing any additional work (like
moving an older kiddo to his / her big kid room?)
First we have to decide which room to make the nursery. We have three empty
bedrooms, so it’s just deciding if we want it to be the room closest to us or
the one down the hall. Then it’s moving a bed out and a crib in, plus painting.
Any crafts / DIY you have planned?
I really thought I would crochet a blanket for my baby, but I haven’t
started yet so I’m not sure that’s going to happen. Maybe once we decide on a
color scheme I’ll get inspired.
Pic of the rug in person. The curtains are left over from DS2 and are getting switched out with pink ones. Decals need to go up too! Still lots to do in here!
Omgosh. I feel so completely unprepared. Making us looking bad. Lol.
Lol I just put the rug down to take a pic for you guys. DS2 was sleeping in that room until 2 nights ago so everything but the rug and new lamp is just left over from him. I will have to slowly girl-ify it.
Do you have a theme for the nursery? We are going with a woodland/outdoor theme with foxes. I love foxes. The plan is to put a mountain mural like the above picture on one wall and leave the rest white. And now that we know baby is a girl, we’ll add in some pops of color with sunflowers and wildflowers.
Will you be room sharing with baby? What setup do you imagine for the bedroom? Baby will be in with us at first, we are hoping to get a halo bassinet (we have a really small master, so no room for a PnP). I’d like to keep her in with us for 6 months, but we’ll see how everyone sleeps. Then she’ll go to her room across the hall from ours.
Are you doing any additional work (like moving an older kiddo to his / her big kid room?) Oh yes. Right now the nursery is my office and storage room for extra equipment for the sports team I am the manager for. It is an absolute mess. We’ll have to get it all cleaned out, and figure out where all to put the extra crap, so baby can have a room.
Any crafts / DIY you have planned? I plan to DIY a flower sign of her name for above the crib and we’ll see what other inspiration I find and have to make. I’ve seen a cute pallet art fox I may try.
Do you have a theme for the nursery? Moons and stars...a combo of twinkle twinkle little star and I love you to the moon and back.
Will you be room sharing with baby? What setup do you imagine for the bedroom? We will have the baby in a bassinet in our room until 4.5 month's depending on how we all sleep.
The nursery won't be set up until the baby is born since we're finding out the gender at birth--except paint walls gray. We're doing one accent wall which will stay as is if the baby is a girl (currently it's a blush pink/light purple). If we have a boy, the one small accent wall will be light blue
Are you doing any additional work (like moving an older Right now it's our guest bedroom. We have to clear out the closet...aka junk...and paint.
We tried to conceive for 12 years and the procrss of preparing a nursery still seems surreal. I am a crafter and will be making a ton of stuff. A baby mobile, curtains, decals, and frames. I cannot wait but we are taking our time and picking stuff we both like since DH is super involved.
I ended up not loving the rug I bought for baby girl's room so I am selling it to a friend and just ordered this one, I'm so excited. My rug is on the right, on the left is other nurseries with it.
@alinafed - beautiful! But I really liked your other one too I would love to do a nice rug in the kids' rooms but it's all carpet (blech!) and I won't do rug-on-rug.
And now my updated little board of stuff I am liking / stuff I have bought for baby's room. the top is stuff i have purchased, for the bottom obviously i won't go with all those wall decor items, will have to choose a few
@alinafed we might be nursery twins: I was looking at that rug and floral letter! Those curtains are also a very similar color to the paint I want to use.
+1 for not being a fan of themes. I’m really pushing for dusty rose or mauve color, and then just having some grey accents throughout. It’s a pretty small room so we’re trying to figure out the best furniture to get that won’t take up too much space. Thankfully we put a nice closet organizer in there a while ago so there are plenty of shelves and drawers in there.

Sounds so pretty, can't wait to see it as it progresses Curious to see what paint you will end up with too! We have a very light grey so I am happy to be able to add some pink accents here and there. I am really excited now that DS2 is out of the nursery to be able to girl it up!
Looking to paint DD's big girl room a pretty yellow. This is weird I know but I'm afraid of it reminding me/ resembling urine. Way back in the day our apartment rental had a urine yellow colored paint on the bathroom walls of all places.
Has anyone successfully used yellow in their home and loved it? Her room doesn't get a ton on natural light so I have that working against me.
@brzvice in my old house in Texas our entry hallway was a light yellow color with grey accents and it was gorgeous! I loved it so much, the color made me happy.
Just catching up on all of this and you all have some great ideas!
We are team green so are working on a neutral theme--mostly grey with green accents. I've painted the walls light grey and want to make these sort of confetti curtains with different shades of green as the dots. Judge if you want, but I'm planning on having what I'm calling a "subtle" My Neighbor Totoro theme. I like these wall hangings (with different frames) am making this quilt (here it is in progress). Might do a mobile as well. Otherwise planning on keeping it pretty simple!
Do you have a theme for the nursery? Science, I want to try to incorporate different sciences around the room ie: Periodic Table(Chemistry), A fish tank(Biology), World Map(Geography), Dinosaurs(Paleontology), Starts/Constellations(Astronomy) ect. It'll be difficult to keep it from being a mess and confusing but I think I can break it down into sections.
Will you be room sharing with baby? What setup do you imagine for the bedroom? For the first little bit, I'll just have a bassinet beside our bed and anything I need for late night feedings/diaper changes within reach
Are you doing any additional work (like moving an older kiddo to his / her big kid room?) Trying to figure out which room will be the nursery (We currently have two roommates and neither one has made it clear that they plan to leave.)
Any crafts / DIY you have planned? Maybe a mobile or something, but mostly storage ideas. I'll probably have more once we set up the nursery and start trying to fill it.
We have a neutral set I adore that all3 boys cycled through. I’m not planning to get a new nursery set for baby girl - way too short lived and I do love what I have. I’ll try and find a pic. I might paint pale pink though.
Instead i I just bought her a twin quilt lol. In my defense it was a major sale at hanna, whos bedding I adore, and they have lifetime returns. I really love the red/pink/gray combo - the room she’ll be in is red right now with gray and white curtains on the closets.
I'm so jealous of all these awesome nursery ideas! We found out little one is a BOY, but I have no direction yet as to what I want his room to look like. I think the main reason is that we have our house for sale, and I don't know if we will be there or somewhere else by the time he gets here
