Just left my 16 week appointment. Unproductive. Waiting for my Makena injection prescription to be delivered to start taking those every week until 36 weeks I think and scheduled my anatomy scan. How am I almost halfway!?!?!
@megnwingate Hey love! It's the 19th. Do you mind updating the title? Don't take a full week away from us! Haha.
I have my 16week appointment tomorrow. I'm not really sure what they'll be checking. I'm assuming we'll listen to the heartbeat and go over the food diary they had me keep. I'm fully expecting a lecture on how I should be eating more since my highest calorie day was yesterday at a whopping 1700cals.
Reg ob appt today! 13 weeks. Dh always comes to my appts and our babysitter fell theu, so dd is coming now as well. Here’s hoping it’s smooth and uneventful!
I’m thinking when we hear the heartbeat we’ll tell dd what this whole thing is really about... right now she thinks its for my tummy cause it’s always upset.

16 week appt tomorrow. I was just telling DH that I was stressing because we haven't purchased any furniture/gear yet for the baby... and he was like we aren't even close to half way. We are. We have 4 more weeks to go then we will be half way. I don't want to be putting everything together right before I deliver. Anyways, I'll likely get more blood drawn at the appt and get my anatomy scan set. I'm still on the fence about finding out. So, I guess I have four more weeks to think it out.
Just had my 15/16 week check up with my back up doc (planning on home birth with midwife, but I like a back up!) and I totally loved him. He was very chill and said things like "these are your options, but it's up to you if you want any particular test/etc" so we're considering whether we want to move forward with progesterone injections to try to stave off another preemie. I'll do some research (I have friends who have done it, so I'd like to hear their experiences).
I have to bring DS, and this appt ran into the beginning of nap, but I brought snacks and his DVD player, and he was a trooper and went down great as soon as we got home (hooray for DVD keeping him up on the ride home).
Great day, I feel great and much better now about what happens if everything doesn't go perfectly and I risk out of home birth.

@smsaulino is this your first? Regarding setting up the nursery and buying baby stuff, we’re starting a big home renovation project which will take about 3 months, so the nursery if going to be full of displaced furniture until likeky the end of June. We’re like “that gives us 2 months to set up the nursery, that’s plenty!” LOL. And we’ll likely have the baby in the nursery from the day we bring it home; DD never spent a single night in our bedroom at our old house. But it’s an option if for any reason the renovation goes way over time!
I have to do a glucose tolerance test due diabetes this week. Was supposed to have done it already, around 13 weeks, but I had the stomach virus and put it off. I had gestational diabetes with my first, so they want to be on top of it this time.
@smsaulino I think a lot of people wait until after the anatomy scan and determining the sex. We don’t need a ton with this one, but I’ve got everything picked out already except the car seat. I’m a little superstitious though, so I won’t buy anything until after the viability point.
I can’t wait until my appointment on Friday (17 weeks)! It’s over a month after my last appointment so definitely the longest stretch this pregnancy. I’m hoping my OB can determine the sex this time, and we’ll schedule my anatomy scan for 1-3 weeks later. My mom said she and DD are coming with but I told her she is wrong and will have to wait to find out if it’s a boy or girl with everyone else...
@pourmeamocktail I did progesterone injections from 20-34 weeks (supposed to be 16-36 weeks) with #2 and I went full term with her. I’m doing them again this pregnancy, actually supposed to start Wednesday
@knitknitread even though my first second trimester appt is tomorrow, I know I've gained a little weight. In each of my first trimester appointments, I was down three pounds at each and my OB wasn't worried at all.
I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow which starts the routine 2 week appointments with detailed ultrasounds from now on. MFM said we will be able to know the sex at this appointment which I’m really eager to find out. Edit to add tomorrow

@smsaulino It wasn't that my doctor was worried. It just sort of sucked to know I got to eat and I still lost weight. It annoyed me more than it should have and it's probably just because I was having such an emotionally crappy day yesterday.
Y'all! Todays appointment made me feel super awkward and I still feel some kind of way about it. This is lengthy so i am sorry!! It started fine...I am 13+1 so I met with the nurse and went over the different screenings and decided on the NIPT because it is more detailed and my out of pocket would not be any more than the first trimester screening (how it was explained by nurse). So, went to ultrasound and the NT measure normal (will post pic in u/s thread). Weighed...no weight gain woo hoo (I am a little over so I am trying to only gain 25). Then...I get to the room and they start to draw my blood. Thr Dr comes in during thr blood draw and says...."why are we drawing NIPT?!?!". Ummm.....? So, the girl drawing my blood says she doesn't know qnd she is just taking blood and I speak up and say that the nurse had explained the different screenings and that is what we decided on. The Dr proceeded to get very flustered and say "I have to step out a minute....I can't deal". So when the Dr came back in she went on to tell me that I have no indications or history to do NIPT and should have only gotten the screening. I apologized and she told me it wasn't my fault and she was fine the rest of the visit and just saod it had been a bad day....but it just made me feel terrible and that I had done something wrong! I love my Dr and have never seen her act this way do it truly shocked me. Sorry about the long post but....damn! Now I am just waiting on results which they said take about 5-7 business days.
@asunshinek That would shake me up too! Glad that wasn't your first experience with the Dr!
We had our 16 week appointment at the birthing center today. H was able to come We heard the heart beat and LO moving around a lot. They were not concerned about my calorie intake which was great news to me! They'll just be keeping an eye on it to be sure I'm gaining properly. I've been told my weight gain goal is between 29 and 34 more pounds.
@Asunshinek I’m sorry it was a little nerve wracking for you. Sometimes a provider has in their mind what they think/expect should be happening and just like anyone else they get a little flustered when things aren’t going the way they expect. That is not to say they would be bad under pressure, just today was a rough day. There can be a lot of in office politics and sometimes a nurse does tiny little things that get under the providers skin and then the provider unfortunately blows with a patient. Just know her frustration was not with you, but with other circumstances and probably many more than just your blood draw. Ultimately, it is your decision what tests you have done. The provider definitely should not have acted that way to you, but I think they already knew that based on telling you it had been a rough day.
@SkilledSailor glad your appointment went well! Love to hear that heartbeat and movement.
NT scan today. Baby boy was super stubborn and would not roll over so I got really beat up with the wand as the tech was trying to get him to move. Managed to get the measurements we need and everything looks good My uterus freaking hurts though from all the aggressive wanding. Baby boy is measuring a little ahead, I'm 12 +5 and he's measuring 13+1, but the tech days they weren't going to change my due date or anything.
Had my 16 weeker today and it went great. My doctor went over several different stuff with me from the k antigen to my pelvic kidney and she wasn't worried about anything. Heartbeat was so clear, stayed at 141-153. It made me want to find out what little love is in 4 weeks. I'd gained 8 lbs in a month and Dr wasn't worried about this.
Had a checkup at 15+2 today and all is well! My doctor is on vacation this week so I met another doctor in the practice and while talking, realized that both of her parents work at my organization and I know both of them... She was a very nice doctor, but hoping she is not on call when I deliver Scheduled my a/s for 4/18!

**Triger Warning - Pregnancy Complications**
unfortunately my husband wasn’t able to be at the appointment so when the doctor came in she asked if we could have my husband on the phone. That should have been the indicator for me that we weren’t getting good news but I didn’t catch on. It turns out that Baby A is substantiallu smaller than Baby B (who’s on track) by 37% which equates to about 11 days. Apparently that difference is quite alarming at 20% is where they start getting concerned and we are decently above that. Baby A also has some flow problems in the umbilical cord, restricting nutrients. The issue is called sIGUR and we now have to drive 5 hours to Seattle tomorrow to make a Friday appointment with a specialist for the condition. Worst case scenario we loose the whole pregnancy. Best case, baby A continues to grow on their own growth curve and I deliver both babies really early depending on how long they can hold our (26-30weeks). I will likely be monitored multiple times a week and will be out on hospital bed rest once I’m near viability if I’m lucky enough to make it that far. My husband and I are extremely worried and overwhelmed. I somehow seem to be handleing it better than my husband currently. Friday will be very informative and we are hopeful for good outcomes. I’m not eating 175g+ of protein a day to also provide mass amounts of nutrients per specialists recommendation. Good thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. This pregnancy journey is going to be a long and emotional one from here on out.

Oh wow @xxkberxx. I'm so sorry your appointment came with such decidedly mixed results. Hopefully tomorrow's appointment will provide some more answers. It's amazing how we sometimes handle and process things in different ways and in different timing from our partners. It's definitely a shock, but I know you will face tomorrow bravely, and your H will come around to processing things in his own way, too. Will be sending you lots of good vibes and courage each step of the way! ❤
Sending lots of positive thoughts your way @xxkberxx. I hope you get all the information and help you need to get through this as safely as possible, will be thinking of you and your H ❤.
*big hugs* @xxkberxx That is a lot to take in. Take care of yourself and little family the best you can tonight. I’ll be thinking of you. If you’re up to it after the appointment, I’m sure we would all like to hear an update.
@xxkberxx I hope you get lots of good and hopefully reassuring guidance from the specialist on Friday. I'll be keeping you and your babies in my thoughts. Hugs.
@xxkberxx I am sorry this appointment came with so much heavy news. Hopefully the specialist will be able to provide good information and recommendations. Please take care of yourself through this and remember this group is here to support in whatever ways we can.
@xxkberxx Oof... this is a lot to process. I hope, because they caught it early, that they can figure out how to give both babies the best possible chance. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I'll be thinking of you and hoping for good news. So many creapy internet hugs!
