I finally get a burst of enthusiasm to do shit today, thank you sunshine and warmth. I finally addressed the overgrowing sourdough collection in my fridge. So I whipped up 4 batches of cracker dough, 2 plain, 1 cracked pepper, 1 everything bagel seasoning. Mmm crackers!
While I'm up to my armpits in dough, my grandmother calls me repeatedly, because I didn't answer the first time, freaking the fuck out about her toaster oven and the fact that my husband hasn't stopped by yet (he's working overtime this week).
A) If you're too blind to use a toaster oven, just to make toast, GET RID OF IT and get a normal toaster. B ) If you're too stupid to use a toaster oven, just to make toast, GET RID OF IT and get a normal toaster. C) If you're too incompetent to use a toaster oven, just to make toast, GET RID OF IT and get a normal toaster. D) If you're too damned lazy to match up the orange bump on the knob, with the orange knob on the toaster, like we have explained 5300 times, thus selecting TOAST...then GET RID OF IT and get a normal fucking toaster.
@neeraja_k I think by that point I’d be driving to Walmart, buying a $10 toaster, and switching it out for the toaster oven. Then I would drop the toaster oven off at Goodwill.
If it makes you feel any better, MIL called me about 10x in one afternoon because THE INTERNET IS BROKEN!! When I called her back, I told her to reset the router. She asked if it would turn off Netflix, which she was watching. We then had a 30 minute argument over me telling her that Netflix wouldn’t work if the internet is down, and her telling me I didn’t know what I was talking about.
My bitchfest is directed at my brain. The stroke I had has come with some lingering side effects, like losing function in my left arm. That happens to be the hand I write with. I can do everything but write and type properly, which is causing it to take sooo much longer for me to complete absolutely anything for work. It's so frustrating!! I have a prescription for occupational therapy but between the MRI appointment, nuerologist follow up, ob, MFM, and primary care appointments, I have no time. Come on brain, I need you to heal!
@meeks2020 hope more Tylenol works! I end up having to take one every few hours but these darn headaches keep coming back. Have you tried adding a magnesium supplement? That will help too.
@melprop That is exactly on my agenda next time I go to Walmart. I changed out her old tea kettle with an electric one after she melted 3 kettles on the stove top last summer. The last one even cracked her glass cook top when the water came pouring out. She turns things on, walks off, gets distracted, and forgets about it.
She doesn't deal well with change and she needs to be in a home, but that decision is not up to me.
@rocknrrollmom I'm so sorry that you're still dealing with the aftereffects. I'd have hoped the residual damage in your brain would have healed up and you'd be on the mend. Are there any occupational therapy routines you could do at home in lieu of going to a rehab center?
@rocknrrollmom aww so sorry you are still dealing with these side effects!
@jsnakehole it’s really cool that you also lived in Israel!!
my BF is with myself! I officially have lost my awesome giraffe Tula, I have looked everywhere in my house and all I found was the hood. I ugly cried all night over it. Plus my DH won’t let me buy another one because he said it was way too expensive and we already have a ergo (which doesn’t fit me right). I just don’t understand where it could have gone
@rocknrollmom I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing symptoms. Hope your brain and body recover quickly!
@melissaf22 bummer about the Tula! Can you sell the ergo and put that $ toward another Tula? Not much worse than chafing while wearing a squirming, heavy kid!
...as for me. I'm really getting overwhelmed with my dad's, uh, lady friend. She keeps messaging me and following/liking my posts on social media, texting me from his phone, etc. If I only talk to *him* two or three times a year, why do you think I want to hear from you every week? I'm already super awkward socially, and have only met her once. There's a story there, but let's say it didn't end well. At the same time I don't want to block her for the sake of keeping peace, so I've been trying to ignore her entirely or keep my responses short--both of which leave me feeling icky and socially inept. Glad there's still a good 500 miles between us at this point, I could not deal with her brand of crazy in person.
@rocknrollmommy I’m sorry to hear you are still dealing with the symptoms of your stroke. As someone who works in OT, I highly recommend the therapy, especially for your arm/hand! Is there any way you can go for an evaluation and have them give you a home exercise program?

I didn't even know that could be an option, thank you! I think once I get through this next round of big appointments, I'll schedule that and give it a shot!
@rocknrollmom - I am so sorry you're still dealing with these symptoms! I really hope that the OT helps. It's ok to be frustrated, you've been through a lot!
@melissaf22 - I'm so sorry about your tula! I really hope you find it or that DH will see the problems that an ill-fitting baby carrier will cause.
+1 to swearing a lot. But I figure that sometimes there's nothing that will express my feelings better than a well-placed f-bomb. I guess I'll try to tone it down when E starts talking...
Sorry my BF is a day late. Work got busy yesterday. WHY is it so freaking hard to find good maternity active wear? I need some pants to run in and NO, lady at Motherhood Maternity, regular cotton leggings aren't good enough. I want normal workout pants, in the appropriate size, and I don't want to spend $60 on them. All I can find are either shitty cotton leggings that are not made for exercise, expensive AF ones from Gap, or cropped activewear pants. I live in Michigan. I can't wear cropped pants outside for another month. WTF. My regular compression tights are only going to make it through maybe one more week.
@juliebird6 I know the gap and old navy ones can be expensive, but definitely watch Gap for sales! Last weekend they had 40% off everything with an extra 10% off promo code.
@melissaf22 hope you find your Tula! Any chance you could sell the Ergo to cut down on the price of a Tula? Maybe even second hand?
@juliebird6 I don't know about the Gap, but I like Old Navy activewear and I've been pleased with their maternity clothes in general. There's literally a sale online every day too.
@melbel0824 I normally love their maternity stuff too, but unfortunately, they don't have any active wear in my size right now. I've looked a few times!! Guess I might have to just bite the bullet and get the ones from the Gap.
On the topic of swearing... I was so good with my mouth around DS until about a year ago, when he went straight into the terrible twos and I couldn't keep the f bombs quiet anymore, which of course only got worse when DS turned three. He'd whisper it and totally knew it was wrong, and thankfully stopped.
BUT. Then DH had to start saying "What the!" as an expression, which he kept saying because DS thought it was funny. Well smarty pants DS last week put the two together and now will go "what the fuck" to us. Thankfully he whispers it, but he did it to DH while he was on the phone this weekend and when he said no, DS goes "only Mommy can say that"

hahahaha @elsieisamoocow sorry to laugh, but the mental image of a toddler saying that is pretty funny. I've been trying to get DH to start watching his mouth around DS, but he hasn't learned yet.
@livinthesunnylife I mean, toddlers cussing is pretty hilarious. As long as he doesn't scream it in public or at preschool or somewhere where I will be judged, I'm good And yes, I've totally gotten it on camera for posterity.

My friend taught his 3 year old that the f-bomb was a daddy-only word, so now if 3yo is out somewhere or hears someone say it he will run up and say Hey! That's a daddy word! Kids are awesome

***STUCK IN THE BOX******
Our first Sunday at our new church, L started to tell his nursery teachers all about how his favorite movie is 'F**k'. He can't do the B in Buck (ice age 3&5), so the nursery working literally thought he was watching our 'intimate, adult' time. Until I walked in with a stuffed Buck thingy.

@juliebird6 I got some from Kohl’s and they were $25 I think also target had some as well.
also update I found my Tula and of course it was in the last place in the house I would ever think it would be in. I had looked in there the day before but didn’t bother to pull everything out and when I did there it was and my boppy pillow that was also missing!
We’ve taught DS that swear words are adult words. DH swears a lot when he’s working on our 100 year old house, so that ended up being a very good thing.

DH: "[SIL] is excited to show the kids the video. "
Me: "Oh, good. I didn't swear in it did I?"
DH: "Just a little at the beginning, but I think I cut that part out, and maybe again when you saw the penis."
I'm too used to my adult kids, and I'm going to have to work on my potty mouth.
Edit: This was meant for random, not BF. Sorry.
