yolk sack and no baby :(

I had my first sonogram yesterday. According to my lmp (January 12th) I should be 8 weeks tomorrow. My doctor said the sonogram showed a strong yolk sac but no baby or fetal pole. He said maybe my dates are off and is having me come back in 9 days for another sonogram. I'm devastated. I had nearly miscarriage in September and I don't know if I can go through another one. My questions are did you have a full or empty bladder during your sonogram? And also I ovulated on CD 19 and I have longer cycles (31/32 days). Would this cause me to be earlier than I assumed? I got my bf on February 9th. I'm looking for any glimmer of hope ladies. Also, my doctor said my HCG (from last week) was 21,000. I also have had no bleeding or pain. I have had a lot of pregnancy symptoms-nausea, always hungry, sore breasts, very tired.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a full bladder during my ultrasound. 21,000 sounds like a nice high HCG level. Fingers crossed your 9 day apt shows good news !

Sorry you’re going through this. Your bladder being full or empty matters depending on which type of ultrasound they do. For abdominal early on you’d want a full bladder, but for a transvaginal, it can be empty. I’ve only had transvaginal ultrasounds this early and I’ve had an empty bladder. Hope things look better at the next scan and your dates are off.

So sorry you are going through this! If you ovulated later (day 19) you could definitely be a week or so off your LMP estimated due date. Prayers you get better news at your next appt!

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I had two ultrasounds that showed an empty sac this pregnancy. They had me come back every week and at 7.3 weeks and we saw baby. My ultrasounds were transvaginal with an empty bladder. They also adjusted my due date to be a week later, which I just really can’t wrap my brain around. I wish you well. Sending you positive thoughts. I had three consecutive losses last year also showing yolk sac but no baby. My hcg levels were always high in the 60k. I completely emphatize. Hoping for off dates. My period and ovulation is always dead on at 26-27 day periods so I knew. No matter how often it happens, it never gets easier. Just stay positive. Your long cycles could make you off.

AMAZING news! As it turns out, I did just ovulate late. Today I had another sono and there was my little bean with a strong heartbeat. I have never ugly cried so hard. I feel so grateful!
