Definitely better then Beckam. Brooks and Benson is a toss up for me. I might prefer Benson because of the nickname options of Ben or Benny.

Wasn't fond of Brooks the first time I heard it but now I love it. It's a great boy's name, solid, will age well, not trendy.

It's not awful, but it seems more like a surname to me. It kinda grows on me the more I say it.

It doesn't really sound like a first-name to me. It makes me think of Brooks Brothers, the clothing store.
