Just wanted to chime in ladies - as you read earlier I had to have CVS (didn't have to, it was suggested and we want to have more peace of mind) so we proceeded with it yesterday. We have had a really rough couple of days but we put our faith in God first and we have been praying for peace and healing for this baby around the clock. Yesterday, the appointment went well, we saw our sweet baby again, and we are at peace. I may not be as active on these boards over the next few weeks as I am trying to get out and be in fresh air and stay away from computers to avoid googling ... but we are feeling good and we will start getting results in soon and we will continue to learn more over the next few weeks. I am so glad to hear of so many really wonderful (perhaps scary at times! @Lcardinal04) appointments and I am going to check in and update soon. Lots of love and appreciate your prayers and support!
14+5 today, going in for 15 week appointment soon....
@marym94. Will keep you in our thoughts, and hope and pray for excellent results for you and your babe! You have a wonderful attitude and outlook on it, for sure. God has 100% got you both in the palm of His hand! ❤
As I’ve mentioned before, I had the NIPT done twice but didn’t get results back (low fetal fraction). It’s most likely chance, but sometimes chromosomal abnormalities can cause a low fetal fraction. So I’ve been freaked out. My NT scan went great, which was promising, and I just got back the older version of a blood test which gives risk estimates for trisomy 21 and 18 and my risk is pretty low! I feel relieved, and with the low risk I don’t want to do an amino unless something else comes up that is worrisome.
I have an appt monday and my sitter just informed me she is sick. I offered dh to use a backup sitter, he wants to take dd w us instead. I mean, it’s about time we tell her, and it’s just a regular appt so we’ll hear the heartbeat and chat a little. But now I’m even more nervous something might go wrong.

Unfortunately, the apt was a touch early for whatever the next labs were supposed to be, so rather than come back in four weeks (at 18+5) and then again two weeks later for the AS, my next apt is at 20+2 so we can get that all done at once. I also need to reach out about scheduling the fetal echo, and possibly an anaesthesia consult. She also said I can call now to book my hospital tour/birth class (ETA in 3rd Tri), and start looking into doulas any time! Whee!!!
The bad news is she also said basically, don't gain any more weight for the rest of the pregnancy. Which I already knew, but it sucked to hear her say it. So yah. Joy.
@BusinessWife those are really exciting things to have coming up! I’m sorry I don’t remember, can you refresh my memory about the fetal echo and needing an anesthesiologist consult?
Also, that’s not cool and maybe not realistic about no more weight gain comment. We could do an updated thread for everyone’s favorite low cal recipes if you’re looking for some inspiration though! It seems to me from past posts that you like to cook, so maybe there are are easy ways to lighten up old recipes too? Let me know if you want some ideas!
I second @nlc8424's comments. How can you not gain any weight unless you lose some weight so that all the weight gain is coming from baby, placenta, fluids, etc.? Isn't pregnancy the wrong time to be on a calorie-restricting diet?! I'm so glad you got to hear the HB.

@businesswife So glad you got to hear the heartbeat! I agree with the other ladies...what unhelpful and unrealistic advice.
Where are you doing the fetal echo? I need to figure out if that's something commonly offered or if I need to find a specialist for it? My RE recommends it for ivf pregnancies which I assume is your situation too?
@nlc8424 @adirat Yes, they are recommending the fetal echo because of our ivf. I guess they are referring me out to an MFM just for that, and the order legit says: Fetal echo screen (IVF ONLY) :# Yikes. I don't really want more tests and interventions than necessary, but I mean, if they are recommending it, I guess we will do it. :/ I just want to have a "normal" pregnancy at some point, but what can you do. It's not.
As for the anesthesia, I reeeeally don't want an epidural of at all possible, partly bc I had a spine issue when I was younger, so not only am I totally skeeved and freaked right out by it, but my spine is not totally normal there in the lower back area where they would be placing it, so if - heaven forbid we do have to do it - I can see how it would be best not to go in blind. So that's why that consult. Ick.

Had my 12 week appointment this morning. I love hearing the heartbeat, but it is a little nerve wracking when they have trouble finding it. Baby was very low and hiding...finally found at 156 bpm. I go back at 16 weeks and then for a/s at 18 weeks.
@starla. Not entirely sure, to be honest. That was the first I've heard about it, *at my first midwife appointment. (ETA not from the RE.) Apparently, recent Studies have shown that in IVF pregnancy there can be an increased risk of certain heart defects due to the fertilization / culture process, so even though it's pretty rare, they still test for it. :/
@BusinessWife obviously I am not a doctor, but I raised my eyebrows a bit at your comment about weight gain. Do your best with her advice, but I hope you're able to not stress about it. Our bodies know more than we do. I ate 95% healthy in my last pregnancy and still gained Xlbs. I needed every last pound I gained because I lost X+5lbs breastfeeding in 9 months with no working out (supply tank everytime I'd try). I HATED how much weight I'd gained since it was way more than recommended, and then suddenly I was very very thankful for it since I'm pretty certain it was fueling my supply. I know that isn't everyone's experience, but if you're doing your best, don't stress, maybe your body knows something.
Thank you so much for everyone's support and input! ❤❤❤
I decided to call and reschedule my AS for the day prior, so on Monday 4/23 I will see a third, different midwife, instead of the fat-shamey one. Poof! Lol. I also have my Fetal Echo set for 5/14, the day after Mother's Day! Looking forward to actually enjoying the next few weeks apointment-free ;)
@BusinessWife I’m glad you updated your appointment. It’s so important to be comfortable with your provider. Hopefully this newer midwife works out better for you.
