PCOS?

My RE is considering a diagnosis of PCOS for me. 10 cysts on one side 14 on the other and one in my cervix. TTC going on 2 years.  I've never had cysts before that I know of. I have regular 28 day cycles and all normal labs. Anyone else have diagnosis of PCOS and no other signs or symptoms except the cysts?

@nurserin07 Yay I'm glad you came over here! Yes me. I have borderline pcos. My labs are normal sometimes and then sometimes not. There are a couple of issues with testosterone and dhea when I have long cycles. I also discovered that I wasn't ovulating every cycle like I thought I was because I was getting af, but I figured out that I wasn't through temping. If you've never done bbt charting, then you would have no idea probably since that would be the only way to confirm unless you got a blood test each and every cycle to confirm it.

Like you, I also have polycystic ovaries, but have never had more than 4 at a time as far as I'm aware. I do have many follicles appearing on each ovary though which I think that's what they consider to be polycystic ovaries. Cysts on ovaries and polycystic ovaries are two different things.

From the Mayo Clinic: "The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs" https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pcos/symptoms-causes/syc-20353439

Other than that, I don't have insulin resistance, no weight gain, no hair growing in abnormal places, no other signs of pcos.

As far as your cervix, growths on your cervix or uterus tend to be called polyps, not cysts.

@suzycupcake I really feel like I will end up with the same diagnosis. I hope we can find out Tuesday if I'm ovulating and next mo th if tubes are open. Then after that maybe we can get a plan of action. Thanks for the info! Glad to know I'm not in the Pcos boat alone!

@nurserin07 It is my hope that you don't end up with the same and that it will be something super simple that can easily be solved. Best wishes to you for your hsg. By the way, do what they say and take the ibuprofen beforehand. It's easy as pie. The most you will feel with the catheter going in is a slight pinch, but it's super momentary and doesn't happen all of the time. I only say it could feel that way because IUI is the same with catheter placement and it's only pinched a bit one time, but my hsg didn't pinch at all. The other thing you may or may not feel is a bit of cramping but certainly no more than mild af type of cramping when the dye is injected. So don't fret about it. It's really not a big deal at all. Please keep us posted how it goes!

Ladies no comments on pcos since I have rarely a period, I swear extra hair, always tiny till these days etc. I never had the cysts or nothing I was aware of. No meds I took ever fixed it either. But HSG I just took three ibuprofens and found doing hsg at my fertility center vs the hospital made a huggggge difference. Hospital I screamed curse words at the tech but shady grove I didn’t fee a thing! Good luck to you ladies.  If they do say it’s pcos it’s def not a death wish. Stims work wonders. We have a ton of eggs they just never drop. Let us know what they find out.

@nurserin07 I have PCOS ovaries. All my testing was normal too and my cycles are normal as well. Just a lot of follicles on my ovaries that they think cause me not to ovulate on my own. Still get positive LH surges on OPK's, but never release an egg. It's frustrating, but sounds like you may close to the same thing.

PCOS here. I am overweight, have oily skin, a sad balding patch at the front of my scalp (W swears she doesn't know what I'm talking about but I'm super self-conscious about it), and I'm anovulatory. I read It Starts With the Egg and I'm taking Myo-Inositol and NAC to help with the symptoms. Supposedly they help with egg quality. There's some decent research about both supplements that seems promising so if you haven't heard of either before you should check them out.

The Inositol makes me kind of gassy :( but otherwise, no major side effects.

I’m diagnosed with PCOS, but the only symptom I have is anovulation and weight gain. I never have cysts, or any other symptom. PCOS is a fickle thing...
