FFFC* 3/9

Re: FFFC* 3/9

  • I just want to say that it sucks that BC options are so limited and symptom/pain inducing for women. I swear that if men could have babies there would be no issues with BC.

We can’t do condoms because I’m sensitive to the spermicide or something. Instant yeast infection. Hormonal BC works ok for me but DH has said he’s getting snipped almost immediately.

  • 100% on the vasectomy train here! Dh wanted one after our 3rd but I wouldn’t let him. He’ll do it this calendar year too since we’ll meet our deductible.

Ive had: 1 kid it took 6 cycles to get pregnant (took awhile for the nyvaring to leave my system I think), next was timing to prevent gone wrong (ovulated early) at 13m, next I had to night wean to get my cycle back to ttc at 18m - my ‘koala baby’ definitely kept my period away longer

then a minipill failure (word to the wise, it’s npt very reliable, and I was taking it religiously), then last 2 took a few cycles after my losses.

I nursed through at least part of each pregnancy.

Ive heard too many horror stories irl about iuds and I hate the side effects from hormonal
bc - lower libido which is already low to start primarily. Not looking forward to the ovulation cramps when not ttc but we’ll see how miserable I am
    i guess

  • @meeks2020 ugh, another example of a doctor ignoring a woman’s pain. I may give it a chance, but not 3.5 years! I think he’ll do a vasectomy at the year mark or so. I’m just to nervous to do something permanent. I want to make sure I have a healthy toddler by then. I guess that’s a little morbid. I’m just too nervous to have him do it right away.

  • @lalala2004 absolutely understand. The pain may not be normal for everyone but I want to tell people the issues I went through as awareness it can happen. Different things work for different people and that one did not work for us (technically it did work, I didn't get ku, but it sucked).

  • Also don't feel morbid, one of the  (several) reasons I wanted a second child is bc I know there is a risk our current one would pass before us (not saying it's a super high chance, just a chance and fear of mine) and then we wouldn't have any children.

  • I loved my Mirena, and even though DH was snipped 18 years ago I'll definitely get another one after I'm done breastfeeding just to stop my cycles. I didn't have a single period or spotting or pregnancy for the nearly 5 years I had mine in. I had it taken out when DH and I were married since it was nearly 5 years, and he had the vasectomy, but I've always wanted it back.

Wait, you got pregnant AFTER your DH got snipped?

If I’m remembering correctly, she used donor sperm. I believe it came up in our ‘actually trying vs just not preventing’ discussion a couple weeks ago.

Oh gotcha! I know DH is getting snipped after this pregnancy and I got scared reading that!

  • I'm seriously considering a breast reduction after breastfeeding. As someone with large breasts I never understand why anyone would want to make theirs larger. I guess it's a "grass is always greener" situation, but I'd love to be able to do a jumping jack without having to hold them down, or even just jog!
Well coming from someone who had larger boobs that then exploded with number 1. They may not stay very large. My boobs are now saggy and smaller then they were before kids. It sucks

If I could ever afford it, I would have them ‘hollowed’ out, made smaller like a D cup, then refilled with an implant. I think that’s the best after having nursed/pumped for 3 kids including this one. That should take care of the breast cancer worry, if I understand anything about it.

There is research that suggests the longer you nurse, the lower your risk of breast cancer. So, you have good odds after 3 :)

Yeah, I think they say 3 total years of breastfeeding lowers your risk by quite a bit. At this rate I’ll hit that with DS1 alone :grimace:

Yeah I went 2.5 with DS2 and 6 months with DS1 so I guess I'm already good, this baby will just put that over the top. Damn over achiever.
