Re: Symptoms | Week of 2/28

  • PSA: Naps and clingy dogs don't mix well. My cramps have gone down and left me with soreness in my abdomen.

@oaklandava my last pregnancy, I had to have sandwiches just so I could eat all the pickles. Never cared for them before, but I became obsessed and still enjoyed them after birth.

I am so ready for this insomnia to piss off. I haven’t slept well in 2 weeks, and am starting to go completely batty. At least DH works from home and can take over with DS if I need to go have a nap. But my one cup of coffee in the morning just isn’t cutting it!

  • New weird symptom that I recognise from last pregnancy:  my muscles or tendons or something loosen or stretch around my knees and my legs . It causes me to get weird strains in my kneecap area sometimes spreading to the rest of my leg for almost no reason at all.  Sometimes feels like a sharp pain when I kneel down on one of my knees .  last pregnancy  I thought it was from the added weight of the baby, but at only five weeks I think it’s just muscles spreading out and loosening and for some reason my body is doing it in my legs as well as my back and abdomen .

  • The exhaustion has officially set in today. I have been watching the clock all day waiting for bedtime and yet it is still several hours away. Thinking my kiddos may be seeing a new bedtime of 6:30 in the next couple days.

  • Afternoon nausea esp after eating
    sore boobs
    tired

was active in Dec ‘15. Expecting #2 and hoping for a boy. Didn’t have any serious symptoms with the first pregnancy so hoping the nausea doesn’t get any worse

  • @onechoctawgirl My knees are doing the same! I thought it was strange, and being a FTM I was wondering if it could have something to do with it. I barely did anything the other day, and my knees were killing like I'd been walking miles all day. I've had the pain before so I know it's the muscle that wraps around the knee.

  • It’s really reassuring to see everyone else’s symptoms! I’ve been very exhausted needing afternoon naps since the week after conception. Last week craved spinach (which I usually hate) and ate bowls of it cooked with onions and cream and put it in everything but that craving has kind of gone away. Boobs are huge, pants are tight, weird moods no nausea yet just been extra hungry most of the time. I have been doing orangetheory high intensity workouts for over a year 4-5x per week but it’s been incredibly hard to keep working out I get exhausted after 30 min and don’t have the energy to run. Morning workouts have been more successful than afternoons. Good luck everyone!
  • The symptoms are coming on faster than they did with my son!! It makes me a little nervous because I had fast symptoms with my early loss too, but no bleeding yet. I have tons of cramping (is it possible that it's muscle memory so my body is working faster at getting ready??), gas, bloating, thirsty all the time, crying at anything and everything, and kind of nauseous. Food doesn't make me sick yet, but I get like halfway through a meal and I just pass it on to my husband. Sense of smell is coming in strong...for example, this past weekend I could swear I smelled a Twizzler, so the rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about Twizzlers. DH picked some up on his way home, now I want nothing to do with them...ah let the cravings and sudden non-cravings begin!

Ahh that is such a pain! I had a serious knee injury two months after my son was born and the Dr said pregnancy causes the body to loosen up, prepping for birth and all that, so it's a common occurrence even postpartum. I should have taken better care of myself throughout pregnancy...I'm going to try harder this time around.

Leg raises, bicycles, and careful squats can help strengthen the elasticity around the kneecap. If you ever feel like they are too stretchy or you notice your kneecap can move out of place more easily, try not to pivot too much, as in standing in place and turning with your legs and knees instead of turning with your full body. It can make it tougher on the knee.

  • @racherickson90 one of the first symptoms I notice during my pregnancies is how much harder working out gets almost immediately. I’m a runner and do a lot of at home HIIT style stuff. My running pace has dropped about 30 seconds/mile and I’m winded after a few months of a HIIT workout. It amazes me how I can physically feel so different with something so small inside of me. It has to be all the work our bodies are doing.

  • My nausea has been getting stronger these last few days. It comes in waves, but it's getting much stronger and more annoying!

  • @racherickson90 @wannaflickone I forced myself to do 30 minutes on the elliptical today. I am usually good to do 45-1h on treadmill, or doing barre, but that was all I could do. I have also been sooooo exhausted. Growing a human really takes it out of you!

  • @lifesabeach85 I feel you! I forced myself to do an elliptical workout yesterday and all I could manage was 20 minutes at a much slower speed than usual.
@wannaflickone Good for you for continuing with your running! I used to run before DD, but it's been so hard to keep up with it. I burned myself out on running a bit too so I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, but I wish I did.
@FreeTheElf We went to a concert a few nights ago and the person behind me was eating Twizzlers. I smelled them the whole show and it was really distracting!

AFM- I think I'm starting to get some minor food aversions. We had leftovers of that wonderful pizza I talked about a few days ago. I tried to eat the leftovers this weekend but couldn't even look at them because it sounded so gross, so I had to throw the rest away.

When did nausea start for everyone (either this time around or any previous ones)? With my son, I was nauseous I swear immediately and then threw up through month 8. Supposedly, every pregnancy is different but just curious. I'm fingers crossed for no puking this time.

  • @oaklandava I’ve had 3 pregnancies at this point ( 1 mc, my dd and now this one) and nausea has always started right around my missed period/4 weeks. With dd I was sick pretty much every day until around the 16-20 week mark. I was miserable with that, I can’t imagine dealing with that for 8 months! You go girl.

  • @oaklandava I had zero nausea last go round. Very lucky. I’ve been slightly queasy the last week in the mornings around breakfast, but it always goes away after I eat lunch. No puking yet

  • @pink_polkadots I am HOPING that none so far means I won't have any? But I am only 5 weeks. Still, at this point last time I was miserable. I swore I'd never do it again. Here I am.

  • @pink_polkadots Last pregnancy I got nausea/MS at 8 weeks. And it also came back in the 3rd tri. This time, it’s kicking up just shy of 6 weeks.

  • Heartburn. It was such a nightmare last pregnancy and it started almost instantly with this one.
Nausea comes in little waves, nothing too extreme (yet, I know).
Waking up at night to pee. Almost every night for at least a week before I thought anything of it.
And the bloating. My god the bloating. I remember seeing people post huge bloated early bellies w/2nd pregnancies and could not believe my eyes that that was possible. Well....I don't know how but it is!

But the first and CRAZIEST sign I had and never had anything like this before in my life....I had a dream I was pregnant. Was only a few days in.  And then I had a dream my sister was pregnant like a week later. Those dreams are the only reason I even took a test at 5 weeks. I didn't think I was pregnant. Period was late but it's been so irregular since I had my 1 year old that I can't go by that anymore (hence this surprise pregnancy).

My first pregnancy, which ended at 9 weeks, I was feeling a little nauseous by 7 weeks but not full on puking or anything.
My second pregnancy with my son it was just before the 7 week mark, at my first consultation with the doctor. I didn't actually get sick until a few days later, though.
This time around I'm expecting it to hit me around the same time...I have some slight nausea already but not enough to ruin my day just yet...just small waves of nausea when I have to sit down or get some air.

Oh gosh yes. The heartburn my last pregnancy was terrible, I'm with you on that one...I've had some so far but not enough to feel like I've woken the dragon in my chest yet...but I know it's coming  :s

Isn't that crazy?! I always get the weirdest dreams when I'm pregnant...it's so strange how that happens, but so cool that it was your first sign! My husband told me he had a dream that I came to his workplace and told him I was pregnant, so along with some other symptoms I was having it prompted me to take a test. So weird!

  • Oh another thing...I’m so hot!  I have like hot flashes!  Anyone else get this feeling?
  • When I was pregnant with DD, I got several migraines with an aura. I never really got headaches besides some dull pressure, but the vision disturbances were so weird. I haven't had one since, until today! I was out of commission at work for about 30 minutes because my vision was so fuzzy and weird and I couldn't read very easily because of it. Thankfully it went away after I got up to take a walk. I guess that's my weird random pregnancy symptom.

  • Not really pregnancy symptoms but I’ve come down with some miserable virus. Is it weird that this was my first sign I was pregnant? The very beginning of each of my pregnancies I’ve come down with something nasty. I know it’s not a thing but seems like a weird coincidence.
  • @thebobloblaw my DD has graced me with a little yucky cold/virus as well. It's making my pregnancy nausea and fatigue like 50 times worse. I'm totally milking it with DH though.  :D:D

I've started feeling really awful this week so I've had a terrible time keeping up with TB! My queasiness is so much worse at night these past few days, plus I get it randomly throughout the day. It seems worse than it was with my daughter so far, but that was 4 years ago so I can't quite remember all the details.
MH went to the store tonight and picked up some saltines and ginger ale (with real ginger!) for me.  <3

  • @offtoneverland im sorry your nausea is getting the better of you! I had it terribly with my daughter 4 years ago, up until about 20 weeks. So far this time it hasn’t been as severe, but it is still kinda early so we shall see. As for my cold, it’s definitely getting better, thank you for asking. I’m just glad the fever is gone. That had me worried.

  • @offtoneverland I am feeling better, but got put on antibiotics for an ear infection. Was negative for influenza and strep thank god. Haven’t had an ear infection since I was a child so it’s kinda weird. Hope you are feeling better!
  • Cramps. Less frequent than the first few weeks though.

So much bloating. Was better the last 3 days while I was chugging a lot of water. But today was bad.

    Exhausted and moody.

Food aversion. I keep telling myself it's in my head. But that's not working haha.

CRAZY wild and active, vivid dreams. Exhausting dreams.

I'm trying to eat healthy, drink lots of water, and exercise.  But it's not helping with the symptoms. Any suggestions?

  • Ravaging hunger every 2 hours or so. I never ate this much early on with my son.

Also, the sense of smell thing hit me by surprise when I was walking through the fish market of Wegmans
  • My exhaustion has increased like ten fold the last couple of days! I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon, and am still feeling like I could go to bed. Plus, ravenous every couple of hours.

  • @babybrain2018 I know what you mean; I keep trying to tell myself the food aversions are all in my head, but they seem to be real! As for your question, I don't think anything really helps with the symptoms, unfortunately. Just take care of yourself as best you can and do whatever you need to do to get through it!

  • @offtoneverland ha dang! If only thinking it could make it true!!
Though, I should have realized it was real, when I had no desire to eat cake.
    I ALWAYS want cake....
  • Food aversions are SOOOO real. This hasn’t started yet but last time I literally couldn’t eat meat until the second trimester. And I was on vacation in Cyprus where the restaurants just bring tons and tons of food in courses (like 12) and 75% of them are meats.  I would literally bolt from the table and have to go for a walk from the queasiness.
