Best Pregnancy Pillow

FTM's who have bought one already and STM's what have you used before?  I started using the one I bought 5 years ago for DS - it's the Boppy U-Shaped support pillow, but it ain't cutting it this time around.  Anyone else have one they really liked? I'm a tosser during the night too - so one that would be good for flipping sides, A LOT.   Thanks!

Re: Best Pregnancy Pillow

  • I like the Snoogle, even though it’s one sided. I move a lot at night, but I feel like it supports me in different ways, and mostly I just want a pillow between my legs, and it curves enough that I can do that. There’s no perfect solution. I just move a lot of pillows around until I’m comfortable.

  • I have a snoogle too.  It's not good for tossing and turning, but I've found that it still works okay for me.  I just move it whichever way I want it when I get up to pee 87 times/night.
  • Oh or also one to sit on on your desk chair. UGH I feel like an old person.

I wish I could just sit on an exercise ball. I have one at home, but since I share classrooms at work, that wouldn’t fly.

  • @lalala2004  I actually have an exercise ball chair at my desk as well and it's not doing anything for me, unfortunately.
  • I have a Snoogle too. I like it a lot but, I am having so much trouble sleeping lately that I toss and turn so much. I also can't seem to stay on my side so I end up tangle up in it. If I could stay in one position all night I think it would work out really well.
  • @jsnakehole  My cat sleeps on mine during the day too :)

Okay well I just bought something for my office chair.  I refuse to buy one that looks like a donut though hahahah
  • I have and like the snoogle. I use it on both sides instead of flipping it somehow haha

  • I prefer to use a pregnancy wedge under my belly and then just my regular pillows.

  • I am currently using a regular body pillow, but I have my snoogle from last time that I’ll be busting out soon (to my husband’s dismay).
For now I just wrap my legs around the body pillow and tuck the top under my belly. It’s a real pain to flip over though.
  • I love my Snoogle. I keep the long part on my left side so if I want more support I can lay on that side and hug it, and on my right side it fits nicely between my legs and around my head with enough to hug, which also lets me get out of bed to pee pretty easily.

  • I have always been a belly sleeper and the last few nights have been a struggling because I unconsciously move to my belly and wake up with a very sore lower back. I built a pillow fort essentially out of two body pillows (one on either side) to try to prevent myself from rolling off of my side, but its only semi successful. Not really sure if there is a pillow solution for this or if I need to just keep working at staying on my side!

@doctormom33 there is a way that a friend of mine figured out to actually sleep on her belly while pregnant. It involved lots of pillows. I never could figure it out though lol

  • Team Snoogle.  But then sometimes I get claustrophobic feeling and I shove everything off me and onto the floor
  • I’m a belly sleeper normally too so I think that’s what’s also killing me!
  • Last time, I tried a wedge pillow (gift from DH), but I hate feeling my tummy lifted up like that and it didn’t work well for turning over.

I have the snoogle this time. It’s nice to cuddle with while I’m awake but doesn’t do anything for my back pain and I’m tired of fighting it all night when I turn over.
  • I just ordered a cheap pregnancy pillow off of Amazon last week. It's still in it's vacuum sealed bag, so I haven't tried it yet. I looked really hard at the Snoogle, but it didn't look too useful to me being "one sided" as I tend to wallow around from one side to the other when I sleep, often ending up on my back lately. And I couldn't justify the price.

So far I don't need it really, right now I'm using small, thin throw pillow to put between my knees, but hopefully it'll work okay for what I want when I need it.
  • I just bought a Meiz u shape on amazon that wasn’t too pricey and he good reviews and a headrest type thing. That way I can avoid flip flopping it hopefully since both sides are even and long.
  • Snoogle doesnt't work for me. I have hip issues, and the snoogle was driving me nuts. I have my old lady orthodic hip pillow for between my knees and 3 other pillows snuggled around my body. Buy one at a store that has a return policy!
  • I have the big u-shaped pillow from leachco. DH calls it the pillow fort. It takes up a lot of room, but I can flip back and forth in it and always be supported. I would not recommend for anyone that doesn’t have a king size bed.

Poor DH was back in our bed for a couple months between DS moving to a twin bed and me getting pregnant. Now he’s back on the couch!

  • @lalala2004 DH sticks his hand under the pillow and will hold on to my arm “so he can at least touch me around the pillow fort” I’m surprised he hasn’t just given up and gone on the couch  :D
  • I am so glad to see this thread. I am struggling to pick one. I feel like last time there were not as many options as there are now. With DS I borrowed my friends snoogle and loved it. The U shaped ones look very enticing though. I already sleep with pillows on either side of me, but DH uses the one in the middle of the bed, which is where I really need the support.
I am thinking the snoogle plus my comfy king size pillow to fill the void on the open side might work.

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • @riverbed  my u-shape one comes Sunday so I will update with feedback! It's apparently massive but we have a King bed and I don't care hahaha  Maybe it'll make the cats vacate the bed if there's no space left!
