EDD: any // Still pregnant any # of weeks // Wk of until babies are all here

I said I might not start a future thread like this last week, but then I was hoping I'd have a newborn to take care of by now.  :/

Since there are so few of us left on this board still pregnant I wanted to make a thread just for Feb 18 moms of any due date that are still pregnant and want a weekly update thread.

What is your due date?

How are you feeling?

Any signs of labor?

Any questions, worries, rants, or raves?

GTKY: Do you have a date set where you have to be induced? And what are you doing to distract yourself right now from being too impatient?

Re: EDD: any // Still pregnant any # of weeks // Wk of until babies are all here

  • What is your due date?
    Today, February 25
    How are you feeling?
Um...just 40 weeks pregnant. Nothing worse than it has been. Some heartburn, braxton hicks, hip pain, sore in the nether regions, etc.
    Any signs of labor?
I did lose my mucus plug Monday, so almost a week ago. And was checked Monday to be 2.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Not literally signs of labor, but signs of getting closer.
Any questions, worries, rants, or raves?
Ramble: IDK, just trying everything to get baby here sooner. This week I've made and taken the midwife brew 3 times: nothing! And it's supposed to be super effective if you're late in pregnancy and ready. Also been drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating dates, tried acupressure, been using my pump to stimulate my nipples, had sex, been using the yoga ball, going on walks, etc. Doula says just try to relax and expect him late. Then you can be happy if he's early. She is fine with me doing stuff to try to bring labor as long as it doesn't frustrate me. I am not stressed out about it, I just wish he would've planned to be earlier.
GTKY: Do you have a date set where you have to be induced? And what are you doing to distract yourself right now from being too impatient?
I don't have a date. OB is fine if I go to 41 weeks, so that's March 4th. She said she just doesn't want me to go past 42 weeks so they'd probably set a date between March 5-11 if he doesn't come sooner. Trying not to be impatient isn't working so well  :D . I went to the art museum yesterday. Just trying to get out and go for walks (I work from home), trying to keep working and not be too distracted with baby related stuff, planning to meet with friends and my mom here and there. DH and I decided if we keep giving this baby plans to interrupt he's more likely to come. If we keep the calendar clear, he'll never come.

  • What is your due date?
Feb 20th, so 5 days overdue.
    How are you feeling?
At my wits end. Let me start by saying I really thought I was going to go early. Big mistake! Wish I never had that in my head, haha. So I've been going nuts for weeks. I think I tore an abdominal muscle so that's super painful, not to mention all the normal end of 3rd trimester stuff like round ligament pain, groin pain, aching all over from the weight of this child, heartburn, hormonal mood swings!
    Any signs of labor?
So many, which makes it all more frustrating! Cramping, radiating lower back pain, braxton hicks.
Any questions, worries, rants, or raves?
I'm to be induced Tuesday night if she doesn't arrive on her own. I really didn't want to be induced since I'm trying to deliver natural, and being induced will most likely make the labor more intense and painful. Not to mention it can take a long time so that's more time in the hospital. More money, more time away from my senior doggie, more time away from my home business, and if it takes a few days for the induction to work, my dad will be away by then for 10 days on business so won't get to meet his granddaughter right away. I know none of this is the end of the world and in the end I'm going to be so happy and fortunate to have baby girl in my arms, but it's just a lot to handle right now.

  • What is your due date?

    2/27. So, tomorrow

    How are you feeling?

Like my due date is tomorrow

    Any signs of labor?

Nothing more than what I’ve already been experiencing for a couple weeks. Cramping, BH, groin pain. The groin pain has continued to increase in severity and frequency. It seriously feels like someone just hits me with a taser out of nowhere. No changes to my cervix since 38 weeks. Only 1cm, 30% effaced.

Any questions, worries, rants, or raves?

I really do not want to be induced

GTKY: Do you have a date set where you have to be induced? And what are you doing to distract yourself right now from being too impatient?

Nothing yet, but I have my usual OB appt on Thursday and I’ll be postdates by then so I’m sure it will be discussed.  Honestly, I’m not that impatient yet. I’m definitely anxious and ready,  but I’m not going crazy. Yet. Every night I’m finding it harder to fall asleep because I just think about how it’s another day gone by that I’m still pregnant. On the bright side, my house has never been cleaner.

  • Oh, and even with all this free time of waiting around, I STILL haven’t done my shower thank you notes  :s

I feel the total same way! This is my first baby and I want a non-medicated, no interventions birth and hired a doula to help me get that experience in a hospital setting. I'm afraid if I end up having to have a medical induction, contractions will come on to fast and strong and make a domino effect of interventions. Part of the reason I want this is the typical reason women want natural births - to feel the experience and natural hormones, to bond with the baby unmedicated, to move while laboring, to be in control of their body, etc. and honestly half the reason is because the healthcare in the US so damn expensive and insurance is shitty and unpredictable I'm afraid of having to pay thousands for extra drugs and procedures and specialists such as an anesthesiologist. So I totally understand and I am rooting for you. I hope your labor starts naturally soon, or that the induction doesn't ruin your hopes for your birth. Yes we both know the most important thing at the end is healthy baby and mom but there is nothing wrong with wanting a specific experience too.

And ditto @kristinl492, I hope we both don't have to be induced either!
  • @alice0218 Yessss, exactly! And now my induction is in the morning instead of the evening so Baby Girl has tonight to get this show on the road. I'm hoping that once they ripen my cervix that my body will kick in naturally and I won't need the pitocin. I'll try to remember to update you all here with my experience, though hopefully you'll have had your babies naturally by then :-) Best of luck to you all! Tomorrow I become a mama!! Or the next day, or the next day. Let's hope this induction isn't a long labor!

  • I'm still here!!
    i was due 2/26 (yesterday)
my only prayer is that baby come on his/her own soon. I was induced at 42 weeks with my daughter and it was a terrible experience. Super long labor and over 3 hours of on and off pushing
I have my non stress test today and a weekly check as well. May ask the to strip my membranes today.
    Just treking along!!

  • I’m adding to my rant for the week: I have a couple of family members who have literally been texting me every day since I got close to the due date (and now past it) wanting an update. Wtf?? One, the state of my cervix is none of your business. Two, they’re gonna be in for a rude awakening when they find out I’m not telling anyone except for our parents that I’m in labor. They’ll get a text with a pic when baby arrives. I just don’t want to be bothered while I’m in labor with my first child. Come on, little one, mama’s tired of being pregnant and dealing with this nonsense! I’m ready to move on to the world of unsolicited parenting advice already  :D

  • @kristinl492 i have a few people asking for an update every day too. It wasn’t annoying until recently just because they are pretty close to me, but now it’s just repetitive since it’s going so long. I feel like telling them to have their own damn baby already! Lol.

i just had an OB appointment so i wanted to update. She scheduled me for induction Sunday night which is 41 weeks. I asked if i could have between weeks 41& 42 to give him a chance to start on his own. She agreed but if he doesn’t start labor then i will be induced the following Sunday night, the 11th, at 42 weeks. That’s fine with me because there are risks if you go too long too. But i also have to get a Non stress test next week Monday and Thursday if he hasn’t made an appearance. So we compromised. I really hope he comes though! Every day i hope it’s the day. I am still at 50% effaced, but his head is stationed at -2, and I’m about 3.5-4 cm dilated.

Any of you having updates on progress or appointments?
  • @alice0218 3-4 cm is pretty good! I’ve been stuck at 1 cm since 38 weeks  :( I had my OB appt today and my cervix is only 30% effaced. I know everyone progresses differently and you can start labor at 0 cm, but it’s definitely disheartening to realize my cervix has been slacking these last few weeks.

I was scheduled for an induction at 42 weeks on the 12th. That sounds so far away! I’m really hoping my body kicks into gear before then because an induction freaks me out. I’m also not a fan of being so far past my due date with the potential complications. I’ll have an NST at my 41 appt next Thursday.

  • I am currently 40 weeks and 5 days, soon to be six. Waiting around is getting more and more difficult, and I actually think I'll be less ready when the day comes, if that makes any sense. Like I'll forget all the things I learned in the classes- I just have more time to sit around and worry about induction and possible Csection.

Definitely getting texts, phone calls, and even fb messages asking about the baby. Luckily my MIL only texts my husband and my mom has been pretty patient (she also went overdue with her first).

Beginning to think due dates are a sick joke. They should give you a window or something. This exact date nonsense just doesn't make sense. Okay - there's my rant:)

On another note, sorry if I didn't follow protocol. I never did introductions or anything like that. I've always been a lurker. But, these last few weeks I have found the community (esp the birth stories and announcements) really helpful. I'll be sure to share mine when the time finally comes. In the meantime, this is Erin in San Jose, expecting baby Audrey any day now.

  • East coast has a nasty storm today, I’m so desperate for labor to start I’m even putting stock in the hope of the drop in barometric pressure doing something. My mom put the idea in my head and I told her she was crazy but I feel like I’m going crazy, so why not?

Who still has a baby on board? Talk about whatever you want. I think we should just keep this as the general  "still pregnant" thread since we are so few now.

I am 41 weeks today. Tomorrow I have a non-stress test. I wish he'd just come today. I wish that every day. I keep telling him, if he just comes on his own now it's going to be easier and healthier for both of us (as opposed to not starting labor and getting induced at 42 weeks). I've been still trying to take walks and also sometimes lie in bed with a candle and lavender oil in the dark and listen to these guided relaxations on YouTube for labor or pregnancy. Just to get really relaxed and try to call up oxytocin. I've tried soooooo many "natural induction" methods and nothing has worked even after trying multiple times so I'm now believing nothing is actually going to start labor but labor and for anyone who had any of those things work, they were about to start labor spontaneously anyway. At least I've tried everything.

@love-mom-life How did the non-stress test go? Do they ever actually find "stress" with those? I've never had one but I'm supposed to have one tomorrow. I'll be 41 + 1. I wish you have a less stressful labor this time and don't need induction!

@erinwedu I don't think anyone who's left cares if you followed protocol. Most have migrated to facebook anyway. I think due dates are relative. It is annoying though that people set so much expectations on them (including I guess myself before I guess). I subscribe to a bunch of pregnancy related emails and this week most of them are telling me about my baby at 1 week old. It's not one week old, it's 41 weeks pregnant! >:) As if that's unheard of. It is so annoying how so much emphasis is placed on that date when you're right, it's really anytime between 38 and 42 weeks.

@kristinl492 How did the storm go? Anything happening? Also, I just want to say, you are right people start labor at 0 cm and also hang around without going into labor for weeks/days while dilated 5 cm. So try not to be too hard on your cervix!

@Knottie95329557 Are you still pregnant too or any news?

Here is some food for thought: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-on-inducing-labor-for-going-past-your-due-date/

It's just about studies about how much the due date actually matters or doesn't matter. It makes me feel better anyway seeing statistics of many moms going past 40 or even 41 weeks and makes me feel more normal. Especially when everyone keeps asking!
  • I heard a fact today that on average a FTM gives birth at 40w5d. That was today for me, I am not part of that average lol. Started the morning off with some cramping and abdominal aches that I was hoping would lead to something but alas, another night in bed with the heating pad on my lower back, watching Mad Men.

Lately I’ve been googling “labor stories” just to read about how everyone’s different labor starts and when it started. It’s comforting to read about all the people who go post-dates. Reminds me that yes, this baby will eventually get out!

  • 41 weeks today for me. Anyone still with me? Today I’m coping by online shopping for baby. I’m really not stressed, I’ve reached that point of peace where I know he will come when he comes. It’s mostly just combating the boredom now.
Funnily enough, I do NOT want baby to come today. It’s a close family members birthday and I want him to have his own day.
  • I’m still here!!
    41&1 or 2

    kristinl492
  • You name it, I’ve tried it to get baby to come!
    sex
    chiropractor
    walking
    resting
    bouncing on a yoga ball
    squats
    pineapple
    dates
    castor oil
    baths
    wine
etc! Baby must be cozy in there

  • Another big storm for the East coast, another cozy day of staying warm inside my uterus for this baby
  • I just wanted to pop in to say i ended up being induced Monday and baby was born early on Tuesday. Tuesday was 41 + 2. I’ll give a detailed birth story after we’re home from the hospital and rested more. Everything is fine and he is amazing and perfect (such a chunk, 9#2oz, and so fuzzy!) but just as i was afraid of, pitocin was upped too fast, contractions ended up going strong with no break to get a cleansing breath so i decided to get an epidural at about 6 cm since i couldn’t really use breathing anyway. It was miserable but everything went super in general. I would try for natural birth again next time and just know that if i end up being induced i will just lay those plans aside.

its funny, in my birth plan it even says that i need to control the rate at which pitocin is increased in the case of induction, but while she was super sweet, the nurse put it up faster than was manageable and even when we backed it off, the contractions still never spaced out. So if anyone is facing the same situation (induction but trying natural labor), my advice is go slow slow slow with increasing the dose and speak up and wait enough in between increments to see the difference. If it goes too hard you may not be able to back off.

Congratulations!! I’m facing a potential induction on Monday if baby doesn’t kick it into gear, so thank you for the advice! I’ve been dreaming of a natural labor but have pretty much accepted That I’ll be getting the epidural if I have the induction. Enjoy your LO!!
