Re: TWW Tue-3/6
Sorry for posting and ghosting yesterday. The afternoon off from work for my appointment was nice.
I have a feeling this thread is going to be quiet today...
Month/Cycle: 11/11
Cycle Day/DPO: ?/11
Timing: best we’ve ever done
Typical LP length: 13
Testing: I’m sick of seeing BFNs so I’m just WFAF
R/R: My appointment went as I expected. He ordered an MRI. He thinks my condition is stable which is good news and bad news, but we’ll see. It means I pretty much just live with the headaches (not all that different from what I have been doing). He also errors on the side of, if my condition is stable, he would want me to try to deliver (if that ever happens) naturally instead of a scheduled c-section. I guess there is some controversy to this but I would much rather go naturally so I’m happy.
I think I’ve gotten to the point in my TTC journey where I just want to give up. I’m seriously thinking about stopping all together. I don’t think it will happen naturally for us. But I’m not ready to see an RE yet. Of course I want answers… but here’s my deal: I’ve only been at my job for 8 months. If I go in for testing and/ or treatment now that’s a lot of appointments to be taking off of work for. Also my insurance sucks and has a 20/80% policy with a 5k max that they will pay per year (I know it’s better than nothing). If we went for testing now that would eat up the 5k right away and leave us with any treatment completely out of pocket. I just really don’t know what to do. Is it better to go in for testing now even though we wouldn’t get treatment right away? At least this would give me peace of mind to know (or not know) if something was wrong. Or is it better to wait until we’re ready for treatment to get the testing done? Wouldn’t most testing need to be up to date before any treatment anyways? I’m not thinking of benching ourselves, just doing NTNP for a few months, till at least I get to a year at my job. Or maybe closer to the end of the year so I can use the 5k this year on testing, and then have a fresh 5k next year for treatment… Idk.
I know this is a super personal decision but I just needed to talk it out. I would really appreciate any advice/opinions good or bad. Feel free to PM me if you want.
CS/Q: nope
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? I’m really proud that I went back to school for a second degree. While in my physics degree I was able to do part time research for the full 2 years, present at a national conference, do an internship, present at an international conference (Thailand), and travel to the Antarctica and the South Pole for more research. I made the most out of the program and I loved it.

@meladams10 sorry, I don't know your history, but how long have you been temping? I see you have a ? for LP length. bodies are weird and can take time to regulate if you've just come off of some type of birth control. the typical statement is give it 6 months/cycles to regulate. I've O'd as early as CD8 and as late as CD19. I actually O twice in the month of January, so you're not alone in that.
@LJMoon6 sorry you're having such a tough time. you're right it is only a decision that you and your partner can make. Can you discuss with your provider what kind of time away from work would be required? I know for a SA and labs those can typically be done before/after work. if you schedule appointments early/late in the day you may not need to take entire days off. TTC is an emotional roller coaster. I hope you have a few more up days.

@Avrilmai I have been temping since January. It's been very helpful and my temps seem to be showing as they should. I stopped birth control last May, so almost a year ago. I'm so glad I came off of it early. My LP has been short, so I'm definitely interested to see my P test results since I know there's a big correlation with the 2. Did you ask your OB if Oing 2x was normal? I find it very odd. But as you said, our bodies are weird!
@LJMoon6 I agree with @hlb8179 it may be a good idea to just call the RE's office and inquire about wait times for initial appointments. It may help you to make your decision.

@catlady2015 Thanks! Sorry for your changeover day.
@kobrien827 MH had his SA done a couple months ago and we got the results the same day. We were able to look them up on the patient portal of his health chart. My OB was also the one who ordered it and I don’t think we ever got an official phone call, just an online message and letter in the mail.
@lurvleybunchococonuts Sorry about CD1.
@meladams10 Sorry about your confusing cycle. My O days can fluctuate as well. I normally O around CD 17-18 but the last few months I O’ed early, on CD13. I do tend to fluctuate quite a bit so it’s not that uncommon for me. Thank you for the words of encouragement. MH had his SA done, which came back normal, but I haven’t had any tests. I have no red flags to indicate that there’s anything wrong. I’m pretty much text book…
@hlb8179 *TW* Finishing a doctorate with a little one is very impressive! Congrats on that. What do you have a PhD in? *end TW* Thank you for the words of encouragement. I do know that it’s likely going to be a long process. It’s good to hear how long it’s taking for you, it’s encouraging me to maybe go sooner.
@avrilmai Sorry you’re still sick! Ya I guess I could call and see what kind of testing would be needed, at least get an idea of how much time I would need to have off. I work 4-10s so going in early or late would likely still conflict with my schedule. But I’m now wondering if I could go to a larger lab that’s open later at night… Thank you for the encouragement.

@LJMoon6 I'm glad I'm not alone in this weird ovulating situation. I suppose next cycle I will need to start OPKs early and maybe just HIO more often? I wish our bodies were consistent all the time. I'm glad your husband's SA came back normal! That's a big relief! My DH goes for his second SA on Monday.
Haven't posted in YEARS so I apologize if I'm doing something or saying something wrong in this post. We decided to "sort of" ttc again. I'm not charting other that CM, so now here I am maybe in the 2WW wondering if I'm having a long cycle or just really impatiently waiting for AF to start. Either way I'm looking at my chart thinking if I O'd later than the 19th I'm probably out of the running for this cycle and AF just needs to rear her ugly head. Late last night I had the slightest brown tinged spotting, and again this morning.
Month/Cycle: 1/1
Cycle Day/DPO: CD32, DPO?
Timing: Not sure.
Typical LP length: 11 days
Testing: Tested yesterday, negative.
@LJMoon6 Me personally, I think it's better to get the testing done out of the way. At most, you wait for the following year to start treatment, but any repeat testing would be no more than a couple of hormone tests and a urine pregnancy test. At least that's the way it worked at Kaiser. You can call to the places where you'd want to get treatment (I'm not sure if you have a HMO or PPO) and ask them what their policy is on repeat testing with time lapses. However, it seems to me that you want to do both now so I say go for it!
What is your current work schedule? I know for me, it was 10a-7p. I went into the clinic at 7 to get testing done and MH went in just as early to do his because he has the same schedule. Blood tests are really quick and don't take a lot of time. u/s, hsg, and saline u/s are super quick. It shouldn't take you longer than an hour. The only time it takes longer is when you go in for IUI.
For us, we got up at 6:30, got to the clinic by 7:30 to check in. MH had to wait maybe 30min-1hour to get into the collection room (it depended on if we were the first ones there or not because they only had 1 collection room). Then we went to eat breakfast and talk for an hour until they were done washing the sperm. The procedure itself took no more than 20 minutes and then I laid down for about 15. I was back to work by 10/10:30 at the latest.
Prior to the procedure, I went in once when my cycle started for a baseline u/s which never took longer than 1 hour (waiting and getting the u/s), going to the pharmacy to get the meds, another baseline u/s a few days after I was done taking the stims (stims last for 5 days) to see where my follicles were at, and this last cycle, I asked for an extra u/s on a Saturday morning so it didn't conflict with work at all.
You can inbox me anytime you want to know my experiences with testing, how long things took, etc. to get a general idea of what you might be looking at.

Thank you everyone for all the support!!! I’m having my typical moody/emotional day/s right before AF… Ugh!
@suzycupcake Thank you for putting into perspective what type of testing would need to be repeated if any. I don’t imagine going over a year between testing and treatment… but you never know. Right now my work schedule is 7-5:30 but I have over an hour commute one way. I also take the bus. So I’m gone from home about 13 hours 4 days a week…
@meladams10 I am so jealous that your OB was willing to start testing early. I went to my OB after 6 months and she pretty much laughed in my face. Even at 9 months she was very reluctant to place the order for MH’s SA. Of course I would rather know sooner rather than later if something was wrong. Idk… MH and I have talked about this too, there’s only so far we’re willing to go with treatment. So part of me is thinking well what the hell’s the point of even testing. Ugh sorry I’m a big ball of emotions today.

You are on cycle 11. I hope this is it for you but also, if not, that's a reason to go and start testing at the very least.
I know you feel emotional and this is all so overwhelming. Oooh girl, that commute. I totally understand just having had that long of a commute for two years, but that was in my car. The bus? Buses suck. It might be a good idea, depending on your circumstances, to try to work out a way to cut the commute. That may not be practical though.
So many hugs. You will figure this out. I know that you will and you will have a plan. Everything will be fine

@meladams10 Your OB really is amazing. I'm also turning 30 soon and the fact that your OB wanted to be aggressive in case you wanted more than one child really hit me. I never thought about it that way.. I always imagined having 2 or 3 children and the fact that I probably won't have any by the time I turn 30 thats tough.. It's all so complicated by the fact that DH and I don't live together. I want to ask my OB for testing too but I don't even know if the 1 year rule before testing will apply to us if we are not living together and our timing is not always perfect. In that case how long do we wait?
@catlady2015 You should see my chart. I actually didn't bother temping this month because it was messing with my anxiety, so all I have on it is AF and when we HIO'd.
@kobrien827 My DH had an SA and we got the results a week or two later at the follow up for all of our initial testing. I'm sure it would have been earlier if it wasn't for all the other testing. I hope AF doesn't show her face!

Testing: Probably going to wait for AF unless I have to test due to a possible upcoming procedure.
R/R: I didn't temp or use OPKs this month because it was giving me anxiety and I decided to just take a breath and not deal with it. So we're really just going with the flow right now.

@nasah15 I agree, the TWW is not fun! I'm not sure if all OBs typically make couples wait a full year, mine was fine with not waiting, but I do also have abnormal spotting and a short LP that I'm concerned about so we're also trying to figure that out. How many cycles have you and your DH had great timing? I would look at that as opposed to just months since ya'll don't live together.
@dreamscapes_ TTC is definitely hard on us with anxiety! I'm glad you're taking a break from all the hoopla. Who loses sleep over temperatures?! Who cries over negative ovulation tests?! ME! Sometimes breaks are needed for our sanity.
@meladams10 Absolutely! I get up at 3 or 4am anyway except on my days off, so that's when I would temp. I just couldn't keep doing it while I'm trying to get my mental state under control, you know?

Testing: I'll test on the 19th and only if AF doesn't show. Until then, I'm attempting to stay strong.
R/R: Rave- Moving to a new city got one massive step forward this week. DH applied for 7 jobs on Monday. Up until now the job ads have been in drips and drabs but for some reason the gods are smiling and everyone needs a stores/logistics coordinator. So fingers crossed he gets some interviews.
GTKY: What is your proudest accomplishment? Completing my MA despite absolutely everything going wrong that year and needing a 3 month extension, I finished and I passed. And if I can get through that year, I can handle anything (even this TTC stuff!)
@mrsduddles Fx for your DH! Job hunting is such a pain. I'm glad things are looking up for ya'll!
